The person who first commented/reviewed apparently didn't care to understand the things the bank does. DAILY spending limits are $1500(but you can call and have it raised within reason, like big purchases such as buying a dirt bike, or something like that. Mind you that's only a daily limit. How many people are going to spend more than that every day). They have a fraud alert system to keep fraudulent purchases under wraps. To keep that from happening just call into a branch and let them know you'll be travelling and from what dates and places you'll be travelling so it doesn't trigger the fraud system. Also use your card at least once every month because the cards do become shut down if you don't use them often enough(maybe every 6 months but it's better to at least every month even if it's for like a pack of gum or something).
But the free checking is totally free(besides paper statement fees but if you get online banking and select e-statements it becomes totally free), they provide free notary republic to anyone even non-account holders, and they provide a fantastic local community feel compared to most national banks in the area. I've enjoyed my time with them so far and if you just ask questions and try to understand the workings of it unlike Melissa D. then it'll make more sense. A wonderful bank. If you haven't given them I try I suggest popping by and opening an account there, there are many account types they can help you with. read more
