Doctors highly professional, ask the right questions, listen to your response and give excellent advice. They are quick to refer to relevant specialist where appropriate. Clinic staff are also well trained, polite and professional. You may have to wait a bit beyond your appointment time but remember it may be you that the Dr. spends a bit more time with too. There are times they are extremely busy but they always try to get you an appointment as soon as possible or a home visit if you are incapacitated and can't make it to the surgery.

Most doctors have a very poor manner in dealing with patients, acting as if our presence was an inconvenience, rushing through each appointment with solemn faces. We would be heavily chastised and even refused appointments for being no more than 3 minutes late, and yet were usually expected to wait at least 10 minutes after appointment time to actually be seen, which happens yes, but the attitude towards such minor lateness shows they value their own time much more than ours as patients. The best doctors we both dealt with were always locums, who would show the gulf in service with both bedside manner and time given. Receptionists, with the exception of one that we encountered were all severely rude, hugely poor in dealing with the public in person, and would always make you feel unwanted or like a waste of time. Again only seemed to value their own time. Would make you feel stupid for asking questions. Got to the point we actually put off going to the doctor because of the atmosphere and treatment we would receive, when we should feel happy and free to visit our doctor with any health concerns. Genuinely seems as if everyone has given up, doesn't care, and just does their job because it's their job - 'careerists'. No level of empathy or understanding to be found anywhere. The positive difference was obvious in almost every way once we switched doctors. Do not recommend if you want a doctor that cares.

This is the latest one, and probably one of my favourites. Obviously they look after me and provide me with all kinds of important medical care, but this place gets three things right that so many others have failed on. Firstly, making an appointment. As wonderful as the NHS is, there will always have to be concessions made in trying to provide care for everyone. I've known first hand the frustrations local practices feel in trying to provide adequate care for their patients while dealing with strict staff and budget constraints. The mark of a good surgery to me is how well the staff deal with these frustrations. The doctors, nurses and receptionists of the Buckingham Terrace Medical Practice deal with this admirably, and whilst I'm sometimes faced with delays when trying to fit an appointment around my working life, they always go the extra mile to make sure I'm seen and sorted in as quick a time as possible. Secondly, they do a great job at monitoring patients, and if I get too lax or too busy with my life, they always provide a prompt and friendly reminder that I really should go see my doctor. Knowing I'm being looked after in such a fashion is a huge weight off my mind. Finally, the website is an excellent resource, with all the information you could need about the practice and it's various clinics, and a helpful staff on hand should you have further queries. Ordering repeat prescriptions via the website is also a lovely touch in an increasingly time sensitive world.

It seems I lucked out! In a medical practice, there are a few things I look for; polite, friendly staff, ease of making appointments, availability of appointments and good one-to-one patient care. They get all of these right. With an ongoing health issue, I've been to the doctor more in the last seven months than I have in the previous ten years. So the fact that the staff are friendly and flexible, the GPs do their best to forge a relationship with their patients, it's a few minutes walk from my flat and they offer handy things like repeat prescriptions online and text reminders of appointments, Buckingham Terrace offers everything you'd want in a modern, patient-focused practice. I only have good things to say!

After a punctual arrival to the same day admission I was met with kind and welcoming nurses who took my name and got me seated. After a short wait I was met by the anaesthesiologist to go over the operation and then the surgeon. Both were well informed and kept me as ease. After a brief stint in the pre op room I was taken down to the bed I'd be knocked out on for a couple hours. I was wheeled calmly to the room, injected with some awfully cold fluids and work up two hours later feeling like a dog who just returned from the vets. Sore and feeling sorry for myself, I was met with dinner and drinks and just the most lovely team of dedicated nurses. minus leaving like I was walking 9 months pregnant and a little unsure if I can reproduce or not, I was well looked after and well fed. Only room for improvement is making the fluid pumped into me room temperature, maybe heat it up in the microwave before or leave it on the radiator. Cheers, Tim.

Whilst it still has a very clinical feel to it - as a hospital should - it's considerably less oppressive for people who aren't big fans of the hospital environment. The ground floor hosts the day surgery, information desk and other public areas such as the cafe and toilets. The majority of the clinics are on the upper floors and are accessible by lift or stairs. The staff on the information desk are always friendly and very quick to answer any queries, which is comforting in this sort of environment. Stobhill also houses the local Minor Injuries and Out Of Hours clinics, which are accessed from a separate entrance round the side of the building. One of the big issues regarding Stobhill is the lack of parking. There are three car parks - one at the main entrance, one across the road and one slightly further down the hill - and they are pretty much always jam packed any time after 10am. I'd usually recommend arriving in plenty of time in order to get a space!

Parking beside these smaller buildings can be a problem as there isn't much space. The main hospital building is modern and swish with a reasonably trendy but not very well stocked coffee bar on the bottom floor. Hairmyres Train station, which is about a five minute walk from the main building, serves trains to Glasgow every half hour.

There's some huge advantages to this practice, but a few downfalls that bring my rating of it down…read more They have a drop in system as well as booking of appointments, that is so hugely convenient when you've been struck by illness suddenly that it is worth joining the practice just for that. In busy flu season when it s impossible to get an appointment for days on end in other practices, you are guarranteed to get one here. The problem is that you have to wait, and the waiting time depends solely on how large the queue is. I've waited from as little as 15 mins to a whopping 2 and a half hours - but this is still preferrable to waiting a week for an appointment when you don't get sick leave. The receptionist is friendly and understanding, if a little brisk, and does her job well. The doctors on the other hand... well, there's a very nice and child-friendly one; kind and chatty and reassuring. And then there's a very brisk, business like, and honestly, a little rough one. He is very nice once you get talking to him, so I imagine his approach was due to his extremely busy day, but it was still a little unnerving when he swiped a cotton pad around my throat violently enough to make me gag, and roughly tugged at my ears... I'm not a cadaver!! Still, the system alone is the saving grace and as far as I know is the only one in the area.

The woman who served me seemed reluctant to end her conversation with a visiting friend and after ringing up my purchases and taking my money immediately went back to her conversation. Sorry, my dear, but when I buy something I expect it to be put in a bag, especially if I'm buying multiple items, and when I buy breakables I expect them to be wrapped. I do not expect to have to tell you this. When I made the observation she muttered something under her breath and summoned another volunteer to wrap and bag my purchases so she could keep on chatting. I found this incredibly rude and would have told her so if I'd been able to get a word in. The lady who did help me was polite and wrapped my breakables well, but a second member of staff should not be summoned to perform such a basic task. If you serve me, if you take my money, you damn well finish the job yourself. Had the conversation been pressing I might have understood, but it is not necessary to neglect a customer to gossip about how a mutual friend's husband is having an affair and how said friend is clueless. It's certainly not nice to talk about how a child, present in the store and scratching their scalp, has lice. There is a word for such behaviour - obnoxious. Great prices, but shoddy service. I won't be going back, but if you value bargains over service it is a place to go.
