I ride Citilink all the time. For me, it is the best way to get around in Fort Wayne. Plus, I am at an age where I can get an unlimited 31 day pass for $22. I grew up in Philly, and lived there until 1988. I didn't need a car when I lived there. I always took public transportation to work. I have been living in Fort Wayne for 15 years. I have also used public transportation in other large cities in the US. Without going into all the details about the dirt, smells, loud music, profanity of the riders, and the general ill-will and lack of courtesy of bus drivers in major US cities, Fort Wayne residents have absolutely nothing to complain about regarding Citilink. Imagine. A bus driver who actually greets you, answers questions, and waits until you are fully seated before hitting the accelerator. In Philly, as soon as you have 2 feet on the bottom step of the bus, that driver is outta there. Better know how to keep your balance, or you have a problem. With the addition of the Route Shout app, riding Citilink is easier than ever. It's loaded with info about routes, including the ETA of your bus at any given stop. As your bus gets closer, the more exact the arrival time becomes. You can create favorite stops on various lines, too. The app is user friendly and reliable. In bad weather, it's invaluable. The only improvement I would like to see, is service later than 5PM on Saturday, and all day Sunday. I'm hoping that as downtown revitalization increases and riverfront redevelopment draws near, the city will see the importance of a great public transportation system, especially for work commuters. As of today May 4th 2026 at around 12:00 p.m. the number three City Link bus pass my legally blind husband as he was waving them down he was wholeheartedly waving these people down and they just passed him this bus system is crap how can you guys actually sit here and act like this it was a few months back we're one of their City Link drivers drop my husband off legally blind husband off in the middle of town at Lutheran downtown telling him he needed to find his own way home because it was seven something at night and there were no more buses leaving the station so he was going to leave him there and he had to find his own way home these bus systems are crap they're a joke I know I didnt any punctuation in this and I really don't care I'm so angry I'm talking to text and not even thinking about punctuations right now this is ridiculous that my husband has to go through this each and every time he gets on the bus this is common with this bus system the number three the number seven the number eight because that was the number eight that dropped him off at Lutheran downtown just because he didn't want to go back to the downtown Depot and drop my husband off where he was supposed to drop my husband off at read more

Quality of life - it is a simple statement, but what does it mean? Generally for me, it is city living, a short commute to work, close proximity to food, entertainment and limiting my carbon footprint. Public transportation is part of that equation. As a newly native Fort wayne resident, riding Metro is a given since it is an inexpensive way to get around the city. I would take my car out for a spin every once in a while, though! I know that with any government run system there are things that can be improved, but in the overall picture Citi-lnk works for me. I normally drive to work, but when the weather is bad I hop on the bus for the 20-minute ride to work. I like that I don't have to worry about gas, paying for parking or raise my blood pressure by yelling at stupid drivers on the road. By riding the bus I can just sit back, relax, read a book, listen to some tunes on the iPod or have a conversation with my fellow passengers. It is awesome that some employers foot for the bill! I could tell you some awesome stories about riding the bus, but I'll save that for later. For those of you who are unfamiliar with riding the bus in Allen County, here are the basics: When traveling to: *Downtown Fort Wayne - Pay when you board. *Leaving Downtown Fort Wayne - Pay when you board. Exception to that - When you take a cross-town bus that doesn't go downtown - Pay as you enter. OBVIOUSLY, some of you folks have never taken public transportation down in the San Francisco area. In San Francisco, if your bus shows up an hour late and there are only 7 bums reeking of piss and vomit, and 10 angry Chinese women ready to pummel you if you so much as THINK about sitting near them, you are having a good day. If your bus driver doesn't yell at you in some strange language and abruptly start the bus before the doors are even closed, then, dare I say it - but you are having a GREAT DAY. I'm shocked and awed by bus-riding etiquette in the Fort. The bus drivers patiently answer any stupid questions, and SMILE. The people on the bus offer woman their seats when they see a lone young lady carrying many packages. Let me tell you what happened on the #9 bound for the Glenbrook mall...It was raining and the bus was filled with old dudes carrying around carts full of newspapers. There was a guy across from me with a giant chunk bitten out of his ear. I wanted to vomit. I had a suitcase with me, and was sitting in between two old dudes. The rest of the bus was full. A man in a wheelchair boarded the bus, and being the only person in the front that wasn't disabled or elderly, I had to move. I trudged toward the back, unhappy and not knowing where in the f**k I was going. As I stood there, contemplating life, a male that looked like a reject from the Trenchcoat Mafia stood up and said. "Miss, why don't you take my seat? You're obviously carrying a lot of things, and you shouldn't have to stand." REALLY? When I got off the bus and paid, the driver took the time to thank me for my cooperation and understanding and she told me she hopped I had a great afternoon. Things like this happen (or I see weird gestures of kindness) when I ride the bus. It's of course imperfect and flawed much like any regional transit system. But it's quite nice. Yeah. Shut up, natives. Your buses don't totally smell like pee, are mostly on time, and the seats aren't hard as rocks. If there was a way to give zero stars, I would have. This is the only public transportation in the city, and the drivers take advantage of that. They are rude and dismissive. They will literally see you run up to the bus and drive away while looking straight in your face. If you are thinking that you'll call and get some sort of helpful response, think again. No matter how horrible drivers' behavior, dispatch will "take a report" which goes absolutely nowhere. Meanwhile, you're late or completely miss out on what it was that you needed to do. If you have no choice but to take Citilink, I recommend you leave at least 10 minutes before their trip planner says you should. read more

Citilink - Transportation Near Me - Fort Wayne, Indiana

Citilink has to be one of the worst mass transit systems I have ever used. Fort Wayne is a confusing city to navigate by car and I thought I would try the city bus. This is just as confusing. I was let off at a bus stop near my destination this morning and went back to that same stop after my appointment. I waited an hour and no bus ever came back to that stop. There was a phone number posted but currently I don't have a phone. I had to walk 2 miles to find another bus stop (I have to walk with a cane). When I finally got back to the Citilink station to catch a connecting bus, I ended up on the wrong bus because apparently they have two of each route number which go to different destinations. Why would you have two #3, etc buses? Could they make it anymore confusing? I just looked up how to get to the main public library from where I am staying and I have to walk several miles to get a bus that takes me less than one mile. I have used buses and trains in quite a few other countries and it was easier than Fort Wayne, even though in many instances I did not even speak the language. I suppose that if you've been using this bus system for a while it's easier, but I just started taking the bus and sometimes I have as much as a 4 hour round trip for a 15 minute medical appointment. I have lived in Chicago and Indy prior to moving to Fort Wayne, and I can't put into words how much worse the Citilink service is than any public transportation I've used before. The buses routinely run 15-30 minutes behind, if they come at all. More than once, I've waiting on a bus that was already running 20 minutes behind, while the driver exited the bus and went into a building. I would never recommend if you need to be somewhere in time. I am currently standing at a stop for a bus that was supposed to get here at 2:06 pm, and it's currently 2:28 pm and 90 degrees out. read more

Citilink printed free all day ride passes in a local Funbook fundraiser. When our elementary students collected purchased coupons from our school parents and tried to redeem them for a service project~ Citilink refuses to honor them. Assistant manager Betsy Kachmar states these coupons are for potential riders with means "not to be distributed to poor people." Betsy continued to share her extremely negative bias toward poor and homeless people and her agenda to keep low income riders off the buses. There are no restrictions on the coupons indicated that you must be of a certain income level or a homeowner to redeem the coupons. . Despite multiple conversations with Citilink Director Ken Houseman, Ken refuses to honor the legitimately purchased coupons due to "the intent was face to face marketing opportunity" for people of means not for the coupons to be distributed to the poor. Boooooo to the Citilink company that states "we are private company and not part of the city." Booooo to Citilink for not honoring legitimately purchased coupons. As a frequent public transportation rider in many large cities I find Citilink a disgrace to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Instead of sending the bus ride tickets Betsy insteads sends a large marketing package of paperclips and other marketing material which I threw in the recycling.
