After being on the road for what felt like forever and entering a very bumpy stretch of road I…read moreneeded to find a spot for relief. I initially was heading for another place off this exit, but when nature calls you find a nearest place. Right off the exit makes for it to be a quick and easy stop. The lot was ample and had a done of parking spaces for all sized vehicles. I parked on the side of the building that did not contain the pumps. It was roomier and felt like easier to enter the store from this side. I went inside to use the facilities and check to see if there was anything on the shelves I might want. After browsing I decided to not grab anything and headed outside to stretch my legs. I figured since my intended stop wasn't much further up the road I could hold off on grabbing anything.

At that time I was young, and youthful, and trim, and bouncy, and hopeful, and not yet tainted by the scorn of age and years of life disappointment. So of course I remember Country Fair fondly. :-D We recently stopped at Country Fair on a family road-trip for lunch, and I can confirm, it isn't just nostalgia clouding my positive review. This place is still a solid stop. We grabbed some prepared foods, and a couple made-to-order subs. For five or six bucks a sub, it's similar to but still better quality than Subway. Subway toppings all taste the same, like they're all chopped with the same knife. Country Fair toppings are more fresh. Plus they have Miracle Whip! That's a HUGE PLUS in my book. Another stellar aspect of this road stop is the coffee options. There were at least five different brews ready to go, plus a cappuccino machine, a gourmet hot chocolate and latte machine, and a HUGE creamer display! On top of the bountiful creamer flavor options, there was a whole rack of flavor syrups to pump into your coffee concoction, too. I'd say about 95% of the time I drink coffee black, but here I couldn't help but making myself a Peep-flavored coffee. It was delicious, well worth the splurge. We ate in, and the table area was clean, comfortable and more than adequate. The bathrooms were fine too. And the radio was pumpin' out 90s-hit-after-hit, seriously like they had a dope playlist ready just for me. I don't pass through Springville nearly as often as I used to, but when we do, Country Fair is a must-stop for this fam'. Maybe a Miracle Whip sub and crazy creamer coffee will be my Mother's Day pick this year?? :-)

Crosby's has definitely helped me change my negative and admittedly unfair disposition toward the latter. Is their takeout the best food on the planet? No, and it's not meant to be. But it's pretty darn tasty, and it's also reasonably priced. Boston, NY is a small, semi-rural town with a population of roughly 8,000. When it comes to ordering takeout, one's options are generally limited to two local pizzerias, Crosby's, or driving to another town. There's also a Tim Hortons and a 7-11. During the summer, there's George's. Usually, my first choice is to make the 15-minute drive elsewhere. Once in a great while, I'll order from a local pizzeria, but only when I want something other than pizza, because I'm not crazy for the pizza from either of the two places in town (especially price-wise). Crosby's pizza was recommended to me by several locals since I moved back to Boston in early 2018, but I didn't try it until June of this year. One night, I craved pizza but didn't want to drive far, cook, or overspend. Crosby's has a Tuesday and Thursday deal - two large one-topping pizzas for $15.99 until midnight. My dad had also heard that their pizza is good, so we took advantage of the deal. We ordered one pepperoni pizza and another with banana peppers and onions. Even with the extra toppings, the price was very reasonable. The food took longer than what I would consider a "normal" amount of time to be made, but I'm guessing they're busy on nights when they run this special. Our order wasn't ready when I arrived, so I waited. I didn't have anything pressing going on, so it wasn't a big deal. While there, I perused the booze section. I don't drink beer, so I can't comment on those prices, but I like fruity, "girly" beverages. To my delight, Crosby's carries mixed-flavor 8-packs of Mike's Harder (8% alcohol) for only $13.99, which is the best deal I've found in town (7-11 sells two standard-sized cans for $3.79, which isn't bad, and Tops carries one flavor in large cans for some ungodly amount I'm unwilling to pay). Like with my takeout, I typically drive out of town to stock up on adult beverages, but the inventory at Crosby's has helped make those trips less frequent. For what we paid, my dad and I enjoyed the food and would order it again in the future. I was satisfied enough with the pizza to say I'm also willing to try other items from the Crosby's menu if the occasion ever calls for it. The pizza tasted surprisingly fresh compared to what I expected. I'll say this much: in ratio of quality to price, I feel my money is better spent at Crosby's than at either pizzeria in town. The employees at my local Crosby's provide exceptional service. They're pleasant and polite. Although I only ordered pizza once, I've gone into Crosby's several times to buy more Mike's Harder, and the people who work there are consistently nice!
