If you have seen the other travelling shows of Cirque, this will not thrill you. There is barely any Cirque feel to it. Sure there are the roaming clowns pre-show and the pseudo-audience that will later be a part of the show, but that gets so old once you've seen quite a few shows. The ticket prices could have come in a little lower if they will not put out their signature tent and quaint feel. Some of the performers are a tad shaky but that's understandable with the amount of contortionism and gymnastics they do. A good solid clap for the juggler and the trampoline jumpers. The stunts are somewhat of a low risk compared to their other shows. The choreography seemed spaced out wide. The music seemed too canned. I'm over it. And I'm waiting for the next real thing. Totally agree with Sonja - a bit of a let down from Kooza. If you can get Tix for around $50.00, there is value there. At face value of 80-100, you might have buyers remorse. If you have never been to Cirque I am sure you will enjoy Dralion, but keep in mind that this show doesn't meet their usual incredible standard. The RG venue is hollow, lethargic and distant for this show. It needed a lot more draping and the light Tech's blew it with a few of the positions of the lower spots that will shine right in your eyes. A lot of fill in between the featured acts come off as campy and irrelevant. The aerial acts are pretty, intense and exciting. All in all if your a Cirque virgin you will probably be satisfied without the benefit of perspective. If you are a Cirque loyalist, you might wonder as I did if they are rushing these productions to market at the expense of creativity and freshness. read more

Ron almost mirrors my thoughts. Where are the death defying stunts done in Kooza, where they're 1 wrong step away from being paralyzed? Don't get me wrong, I don't want anyone to get hurt, but I don't want to fall asleep either. There were a couple of cool acts, (juggler, trampoline wall, and jump-rope) but this felt much more like just a dancing show than the previous Cirque experience I had. There was beauty and grace, but not the adrenal excitement I had at Kooza. This felt more like I was at a ballet, and I didn't fully understand how the acts and dancing fit into the story. Kooza told a very clear story and was easy to follow. This just seemed like people in colored costumes dancing and doing a mild trick every now and then. From what I read before hand, I knew it was supposed to be telling a story of the elements blending and acheiving balance, but there wasn't much more than that. I thought I would prefer the rose garden over the cirque tent, but I was wrong. I much prefer a closer view of the costumes and makeup, and the intimacy that they are able to bring into the show in the smaller setting. There was more audience interaction, and each crazy stunt, they would pressure the audience to scream and clap louder. I'm glad they didn't do that at Dralion, because there is not much to clap louder for. read more

I love every show that I get to see. The performers were amazing as usual along with the costumes and the music. This story of the four elements showed power and grace with every routine. The traveling shows are not as grand as the shows with a home base but outstanding all the same. This show is a must see for those that have never seen a Cirque show and for those that travel to see them all. Yes, this is a great show for children. It will keep them gazing in amazing for the entirety. read more

Diverse performers dressed in extravagantly colorful costumes strutting the runway, I mean stage...(smile) it must be Cirque Du Soleil, they are in town only for a little while so you betta catch them now! If you're searching for the blue and yellow tent(Chapiteau) @ Atlantic Station, it's not there, they've moved inside Philips arena. Cirque continues to amuse and amaze me with their world class and heart pounding acts. So if you are a thrill seeker, Cirque's got you covered, with death defying, jaw dropping, breathtaking acts. To accompany all the thrills and chills, ethereal, tribal music, an outstanding live orchestra complimented by angelic, operatic vocalists...Impeccable!!! Cirque Du Soleil Dralion is best described as a visual feast. LIke any other Cirque Du Soleil there is alot of astonishing, amazing performances in this show. Your eyes are guaranteed to go everywhere and you might even need moments to take it all in. This show in particular was based on celebration of life and the four elements: air, water, fire and earth. The show has an East meets West theme = Dragon (East) + Lion (West) = Dralion. The costumes were wonderful, the music was powerful, and the performers were stunning. The woman who was spinning with a silver hoop dangling in the air was captivating. The acrobats jumping through tiny silver circles had me at the edge of my chair. I almost confused the juggler for having superpowers because I never seen somebody juggle and keep balls rolling on their neck. It was crazy. The show was very cultured and I really enjoyed the energy the Fire element bought when they were dancing. The clowns were jumping around all over the stage. The show was also entertaining, I enjoyed watching the upbeat lions balancing on balls along with the pokemon looking character prancing around. The one thing that seemed difficult to comprehend is why in the middle of a performance a lady singing opera music will appear floating in the middle of the stage. Although this was a great show with alot going on I just really hope the ushers are nicer next year coming around. I accidentely bought my camera without knowing you cannot bring one in and one usher scolded me like I was a little girl. He was like no, no ,no.no you can't can't can't can't. His service did not match up to the show especially considering how expensive the tickets are. read more

After seeing Kooza in 2010, I had high hopes (and expectations) for Dralion, Cirque's newest endeavor currently showing at the Rose Garden in Portland. While Dralion featured Cirque's trademark array of fantastical costumes and set design, the overall performance seemed to fall a bit short. In the course of the three hour show, there were several incredible acts - from aerialists to the most amazing juggler the world may ever see to acrobats balancing and contorting their bodies in nearly impossible ways - however the production seemed disjointed and lacked the flow seen in Kooza. The three comedic "hosts" of the show had too many segments of their own that dragged on for too long and stilted the excitement and flow from the amazing acts before them. Conversely, Kooza's "hosts' were funny, entertaining for all levels, and their skits were much shorter - allowing more time for the excitment that makes Cirque, well, Cirque. For the most part, the music was fantastic and started from a blend of ethnic rhythms magically paired with the familiar feel of rock and roll - but then devolved towards the end to a near tantric hum of an overzealous monotonal opera singer. Dralion's juggler, trampolinists, acrobats, aerialists and performers were breathtaking - but be prepared for this show to have much more dance and comedic skits than in prior Cirque shows. For a period of time, TravelZoo is offering Dralion discounted tickets - so it might be worth a look. read more

I took my 7 year old daughter to see Dralion in Stockton over the weekend and what a disappoinment it was. Although, my daughter was laughing at the clowns and she was impressed with the juggler and the long hair guy with the iron ball. I've seen 3 Cirque du Soleil shows in Las Vegas - KA, O and Mystere and all three had standing O at the end of the show. No one stood up for Dralion. All the performers worked hard, but the lack of direclton and storyline do not live up to the hype. A very disappointed Cirque du Soleil. The 2 stars are for the performers who kept on making mistakes, but never gave up and kept on trying. read more

I went to see Dralion at the Stockton Arena last night and was extremely dissapointed. This was my first Cirque du Soleil show in person (watched some on tv) and I was not impressed. There were a few decent performances that featured old school circus tricks (trampoline, juggling, jumprope), but nothing compared to what I would expect or what I have seen on tv. Unfortunatly the show was 40% tedious, annoying, intolerable french clowns, 20% bad dancing, 20% celtic style singing, and 20% acrobatics. I thoguht Cirque was suppossed to be full of dealth defying stunts? Well, not so with Dralion. I would recomedn saving your moeny adn going to a show like Alegria OR kOOZA. read more

This is the third Cirque du Soleil show I've seen. The others were fantastic, but Dralion really disappointed. The costumes and performances were not at all up to par. Some acts were fabulous, but they didn't have the magic I've seen in their other shows. Not as many varied performances. Ovo was really spectacular. Dralion didn't come close. read more
