I hired Kristin Piteo in late 2019 and scheduled my wedding for November 2020, but I had to move everything 3 weeks prior due to a new Covid curfew imposed by the state of Ohio. My new wedding date was scheduled for May 2021. Kristin informed me that she was unavailable to personally shoot my wedding and would send another photographer in her place, but I would have to pay an additional $324 (on top of the $3,600 + tax already paid) due to her "2021 price increase". She would not refund anything already paid, either, thus forcing us to continue with the contract rather than seek a new photographer since the budgeted funds were already spent. Kristin assured me that the new photographer was of equal caliber and experience as her and I trusted her expertise. It was quickly apparent on my wedding day that the main photographer was not very experienced, evidenced by how few photos she took and her lack of confidence and direction. I have no photos of the groomsmen getting ready, because the 2nd photographer was late arriving to the house. It took a long time to receive my final edited photos, and I got them after the album for a wedding that occurred a couple of weeks after mine were posted to her website. I was immediately disappointed with the quality and quantity of the photos. Kristin tried to blame it on the fact that I didn't download the high res files, but this did not explain why several pictures had mistakes such as eyes closed, etc. It was obvious that Kristin knew the quality was poor when she refused to post any on her company's Instagram page claiming she doesn't post other photographers work, even though this was the work of "Kristin Piteo Photography" per the contract we both signed. When I pushed further, she offered a $500 refund and new filters and also claimed that our wedding party was drunk and difficult to work with, per the photographer she sent in her place. This is impossible considering my church is very conservative and would have refused to marry us. I was so offended and upset by these comments and refusal to take ownership that I never responded. Now I can't look at my pictures without getting upset and can't put any on my wall. I am so happy for the couples whose wedding pictures done by Kristin Piteo Photography came out stunning and artistic, but am heartbroken that mine are so bad, even though I paid the same fees. This review is not about tarnishing anyone's brand or image. It is an honest retelling of my experience. While Kristin claims to treat every wedding with the utmost care and professionalism, mine felt very much like an afterthought and a burden. I understand that vendors need to make a living and I am more than willing to pay a fair price for good work, but we also worked hard for every dollar in our budget, so we felt like we were being taken advantage of when we received neither a partial refund to hire a different photographer, nor an end product that was commensurate with what we paid for. I also felt like there was a lack of sensitivity for what I was going through as a Covid bride, whereas other vendors were far more accommodating and understanding. Of course I would much rather be looking at beautiful wedding photos than to be posting this bad review.

Kristin Piteo's contract states "There shall be NO refund of retainer after signing of agreement due...If the event is cancelled within six months of the date, the client shall pay the balance of the contract...Once a balance is paid, it is NON-REFUNDABLE". All of our wedding vendors except for Kristin fully refunded us due to the uncertain times of Covid-19 despite their contracts stating otherwise. Kristin proceeds to agree to scheduling a shoot with us since she would not refund the $936 deposit, we were extremely excited and grateful since her contract does not state any exchanges of services for deposits. After many months of trying to schedule with her, she was never able to give us a date that she was available despite emailing her on various occasions. My experience with Kristin is that she isn't willing to satisfy paying clients and I wish we would have had a good experience based on her reviews.

Booking Cleveland Photo Group for my wedding continues to be my biggest regret. More details on why…read morebefore, but first, just google "raw vs. jpeg wedding" and know that they shoot in jpeg. Our ceremony was outdoors and we took family shots in the same location immediately after. They are all unusable. I tried to work with Cleveland Photo Group on edits and they couldn't deliver anything better. I finally realized I needed to hire someone else, but because the photos were shot in jpeg, they cannot be saved. I've consulted with several other photographers and editors at this point, and they've all been in agreement that the photos were shot incorrectly and can't be saved due to shooting in jpeg. Communication with Cleveland Photo Group was poor leading up to the wedding and after the fact with getting photos. Several people remarked to me how rushed the photographer felt during the day, and it shows in the photos. Many key moments and styles we had specifically asked for in advance were completely missed. We had to remind them to take individual photos of us, and he specifically had me leave my bouquet out of the pictures. He rushed me when getting changed to get a photo of my mom buttoning my dress, only to take a photo with my bra showing and only my mom's hands - no indication it is even her. Our "first look" can't even be recognized as a first look. Thankfully, we did get a couple nice photos. But, certainly not what we paid for and we didn't get many things I would expect from a reputable professional wedding photographer, such as tips on posing to look good or fixing my train in a single shot so that is shows nicely. I completely get that can't happen every picture, but the photographer was aware that I was wearing my deceased grandmother's dress and having a picture of it was very important, and he failed to deliver. As mentioned above, we chose our ceremony for the backdrop, with sky and lake, and it looks like a blank white screen in every photo. When we tried to work with them to fix it, we literally got the response "white girl in a white dress" was hard with the background. Though the team originally came off as kind and personable, I felt ignored and belittled in my dealings with the photographer leading up to and after the wedding. The main photographer grew more condescending as time when on, clearly putting no effort into shots he seemed to feel were beneath him, such as the first look and our table dash. So many key moments from a once-in-a-lifetime day were missed, and their team hasn't taken any accountability. If you're looking for anything other than a half-hearted, rushed capturing of your day that will leave you with regret, I suggest you look elsewhere.

But I feel it's important to share our experience so other couples can go into their planning process informed. We hired Platinum Photography with the expectation -- and contractual agreement -- that we would receive retouched digital images, a custom wooden USB, and a physical 8x10 album. Unfortunately, the process from start to finish was filled with delays, broken promises, and poor communication. What followed was a frustrating string of extended deadlines, vague updates, and inconsistent messaging. The USB was only ordered months after the wedding -- after we followed up repeatedly -- and the album was denied, then later reluctantly agreed to after I pushed back and quoted the actual contract. The editing was also incomplete, with clear inconsistencies in the photos we received, and promises made about corrections (such as under-eye editing) were not fulfilled until pointed out directly. At one point, I was even offered a partial refund on the condition that I remove my review and forfeit the remaining items -- an incredibly unprofessional request. I was also wrongly accused of breaching the contract for making light personal edits to a few photos, despite the contract allowing for personal use (albums, scrapbooks, gifts, etc.). It's not that the photographer was rude or mean -- they were always polite. But it felt like a constant bait-and-switch, with excuse after excuse and very little accountability. As a busy mom of two, I simply didn't have the time or energy to chase down what should have been handled with care and professionalism. After months of back and forth, the album and USB are finally in progress, but I would never recommend this experience to another bride. Your wedding memories deserve more than constant follow-up, shifting stories, and delayed promises. Do your research, get everything in writing, and don't be afraid to advocate for yourself.
