Pickerel Lake Lodge - This will piss a guy off.

I'd love this place if I was still drinking and didn't have a newborn in tow…read more Room smelled like cigarettes. Condo 9. Missing smoke detectors. Lamps didn't work, but no big deal. What pisses a guy off is a coffee pot that didn't work either! Haha This place just didn't work for our little family, but in my party days I would have loved the bar and happenin' atmosphere. It would make up for the rip off prices and gross room. I just wanted other families with babies to know this; my wife was pissed! These condos are NOT nice. We booked lat minute on the 4th of July with nowhere to stay in the area. I love this place for what it is. White trash 5 start joint, I say that proud of my own white trashiness.

Oh Pickerel Lake Lodge! Where to begin. I've been coming here since a little girl and used to…read moreabsolutely LOVE the nights when we'd hop in the boat and head down to the Lodge for dinner! They serve up great Midwest fare - cheese curds, frybread, steak, burgers, etc. As the only restaurant on Pickerel Lake, this is where we came when our parents didn't feel like cooking supper. Fast forward 15 years and I (along with every child who grew up coming to the lake) could not WAIT until my 21st birthday so that I could officially discover what the Lodge nightlife had to offer. Welp, on weekends, this place is poppin' with locals and visitors alike. They have fun music, a full bar, and great camaraderie. It is definitely all that you want and more when heading to a divey lake bar. Their outside patio has a lovely view of the lake from the south end. Happy hour views? Check! During the weekdays, though, it is pretty quiet! They also have hotel rooms and cabins for rent. This is AMAZING since there really aren't many other rentals on the Pickerel Lake. The hotel and cabins have lake access where you can swim, drop your boat, etc. There are also fire pits on the beach to roast some s'mores. If you want a fun lake getaway and don't have a cabin on this lake, The Lodge is a great place to stay! Nothing super fancy, but all that you need to have a fun week at the lake with loved ones. Last but certainly not least, this is where everyone comes to get gas for their boats, jet skis, etc. All in all, you gotta love the Lodge!

Am wondering where City Slicker Colin stayed at? I have stayed at the Hi Way Motel in Clark on 8+…read moredifferent occassions, both as a couple and with our children. It is a family owned motel, and find that Dennis and Elaine (owners/managers) are very friendly & welcoming. We have stayed in several different rooms, rooms with one bed and rooms with 2 and in the double kitchen room. EACH and EVERY time we have found the rooms to be EXTREMELY clean (I am very picky on room cleanliness and have found this motel to have rooms CLEANER than most of the Ramada's, Holiday Inns and other chain motels..this makes me happy; not cry). The beds are very comfortable and appear to be new; the bedding is clean, in excellent shape; LOVE the extra touches like the oversized large sized hiqh quality bath towels (not those small little white towels you find in the chain motels); grills are outside for guests to use in the shaded picnic area (nice to go to the local grocery & get some food & grill & relax outside). Hunters & fishermen do stay here, although we have not stayed for that, but there is a separate building they have that has a cleaning area & freezer-again an added benefit that you don't find at a chain motel. And the price is a LOT less than a chain motel and at the Hi WAy we always get a clean, comfortable room and are greeted by friendly, polite hosts who will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and try to help you in any way that you can.

I disagree, it was warm and comfortable. My needs and my requests during my stay were attended to…read more I just wish they would send the yellow tshirt from the wall of gift shop to the boy named "ok" Doing a great job, keep it up!
