Just recently they revamped their store and became half of what they used to be, with an Eyelash/beauty place on the other side. They used to carry a lot of non-perishable food items, basically serving as a lower quality Shoppers Drug Mart. I don't mind the smallness of it, but it's weird how it's still a sketchy-old-grungy environment. That being said, I still go here for all the late night ice cream cravings, buying scratch cards, and picking up any last minute needs. Service is eh, but it's okay for a convenience store. In and out.

It is a small cafe that serves coffee, snacks, and quick bites. The father-daughter duo who runs the store were always welcoming, friendly and personable. They also seem to know regular customers' orders by heart ;) I usually order a medium coffee which is $1.50 tax included. You can choose the regular coffee blend or roasted hazelnut blend. The hazelnut one is my favourite, and it smells so heavenly ^^ For lunch, I usually get a freshly made sandwich for $4 tax included. The portion is huge (for me!), you can add sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and other toppings at no additional cost. My coworker and I usually enjoy the egg salad sandwich, tuna salad sandwich, and chicken salad sandwich :) Secret menu item (well, not so secret anymore!) Beef patty ($1.50 tax in.) is not on the menu but you can certainly order it. I always have random beef patty craving moments lol. You can also have it stuffed apparently! My coworker was telling me how delicious a stuffed beef patty was lol. You can stuff it with the usual - sliced tomatoes, cucumber, plus other favourite toppings. I shall order that another time ^^ Not sure how much it cost but I'm sure it can't be too far off. This cafe also serves a specialty Indian hot dish everyday. I often hear them offer butter chicken served with rice for lunch (I think around $6 or $6.50... can't rmb exactly). Huge portions with great affordable prices. They have great sandwiches and breakfast items made to order. My favourite thing was the bibimbop which is a Korean dish made with rice and a mix of vegetables served in a sizzling stone pot. Pretty nice stuff for a typical work week lunch. They owners are very nice and friendly, prices are super affordable making this a great work lunch spot!

It smelled like a sewage back-up that exploded and went all over the store. It was utterly unbearable in there and I could not wait to get out. I hope they do something about that - IT is NOT SAFE for customers to be breathing in that air. Also, there was CAUTION tape around the bathroom, but still they should have closed it down - it was really, really terrible.

Today, while running a few errands, I saw this Circle K along 16th Avenue, on the south side, west of Bayview Avenue. I remembered my digital coupon and took a right into this Esso gas station with Circle K. There aren't a whole lot of parking spots in front of this store. There's an accessible parking spot to the left of the store's entrance. There's another one to the right, along with two other regular parking spots. I nabbed the last one by backing into it. Alternatively, by the vacuums and car wash, there are a few parking spots. The car wash is touchless with undercarriage spray heads. I walked in and looked at the beverages. I found a decent variety of AriZona drinks and chose the watermelon. There are Frosters and Polar Pop machines. The chips and candy sections were decent, too. I had the nicest man at the counter. I scanned my coupon and the drink was mine. He wished me a great evening and told me to take care. I reciprocated and left with my free drink. It was great dropping by this store. I needed to get my passport renewed. It had been almost a decade since I last got passport photos…read more Back then, I got mine at Costco. They were cheap and good quality. During the pandemic, Costco decided to shut down its photo centre permanently. Bummer. Where should I go? I did a search of a passport photo place that was open after 6 pm on a Saturday. I came across Grace Convenience on McCowan Road, a block south of Finch Avenue East. This store is in a small plaza. I had no problem backing into an available parking spot. There was a man outside smoking. I would soon find out that he owned the store and would end up taking my passport photo. I walked into the store and asked if he did passport photos. He did. It was $14.99 for two hardcopy photos. You can only pay by cash or debit. He has a small section for taking photos. I sat on a stool with a white background and he guided me through the process. He was concerned about my bangs. I said that all my passport photos had bangs in them (I've had them all my life, except for when I was born) and they were never an issue. He nodded. I looked at the first couple of photos. I politely asked if I could get another one taken. Third time was the charm. I looked less like a criminal wanted for some horrible break-and-enter offence. He spent time printing my photos, stamping the back of them, and signing them. He then safely placed them in an envelope and let me know that I didn't need any guarantors to renew my passport. He was thorough and helpful, which I appreciated. While he was preparing my photos, I looked at the cold beverages. I saw a kiwi strawberry AriZona drink that I had never had. Getting my photos done made me thirsty, so I got this drink. At this point, there were three other male customers behind me at the counter. I paid for my photos and drink with a debit card. I tapped and was done. I thanked this man for his help. I walked out of the store and headed to my car. My kiwi strawberry drink was so good. I loved the flavours and it was cold. It hit the spot. My passport photos turned out nicely. A couple of days later, I applied for my passport renewal. I now have my new passport. I like that I wore a green shirt to this photo shoot. It added a cheerful pop of colour to a rather mundane document. If you need a quality passport photo fast, come here. He probably took no longer than ten minutes to have my passport photos ready. I'm pleased with the results. I would come here again in another ten years and hope that it's still around! (118)
