Ever since I joined the temple has definitely been very warm and welcoming. Rabbi Apothaker married my brother. For my brother it was very convenient to take lessons with Apothaker because they skyped before the actual ceremony here in Columbus. The ceremony was beautiful. Onto my ceremony, I loved it! Rabbi Benjy did a phenomenal job with both my husband and I. He even got the audience very engaged. They all loved him I heard! My husband and I started off with lessons like my brother but we actually met our rabbi in person, which I prefer because I like seeing people in person. I like to be engaged with the person who is marrying my husband and I and he did just that. The temple as a whole is just wonderful. They bring the Meshuga Notes (like a Jewish music group) to services on Friday's so that it is upbeat. They also have Marc Russo to engage with the kids with music lessons. As well as Angelo on the guitar. It's just a very nice atmosphere. I recently went to a ceremony this past weekend where they honored both the Israeli and American veteran's and I was very thankful they put it together. They obviously spent a lot of time and effort putting it together and making sure the choir had their music prepared. I appreciated everything they did to honor both my dad and brother as veteran's of the IDF (Israeli Defense Force). I am honored to be a member of this temple and would recommend it to any reform Jew's in the community.

While in Columbus, I had the pleasure of attending this church. St. Catherine's is beautiful. I…read morewalked in from the front door. The alter is in center with seats surrounding it. I liked the seats near the front door best. After the service, I walked around and took in more of the church. There is a lot of natural light. Most importantly, for me, was the reception I received while sitting in one of the pews. I was greeted with welcoming smiles, handshakes and warm greetings.

There is actually a Catholic Church within walking distance of my apt, but I choose to drive the 15 mins to St. Catharine's instead. From what I have heard, many others in the parish make similar drives to get to Mass on Sundays. What is at the heart (or "who" I should say) of St Catharine's is definitely our beloved pastor, Father Dury. I actually started going to St Catharine's 5 years ago and he became the new pastor closely thereafter. Fr Dury is a young pastor filled with energy, zeal, wit, and unending passion for the Lord. You can feel the Holy Spirit in him many times when he talks. I absolutely love his homilies. I can truly relate to them and he always throws a few funny jokes in there (he loves sports analogies & Chipotle!). My favorite thing about Fr Dury is how he is changed the church with various programs and involvement within the community. St Catharine's new motto is "Connect. Grow. Serve." I love that saying because I personally have made so many great connections with other individuals within the church. I feel myself growing in my faith. I've also attended (as a participant and part of the formation team) various church programs that are sponsored by Fr Dury. We have so many different programs- whether you're still unsure of your faith and are just curious to learn more, or if you are solid in your faith but want to grow and connect with others within the church. The options at St Catharine's are endless! I look forward to playing a bigger part in some of these programs as we head into 2018. I truly love my church and am proud of the work we do to serve the Lord. I hope we make Him proud! If you are reading this and would ever like to attend Mass with me, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'd love to invite anyone I can to my wonderful church!
