I took the Fearless Falling class, held between 3:00 to 4:00 on Wednesdays and I learned so much. The senior lunch on Wednesdays and Fridays is only $4; you may choose to dine in or takeaway. Near the dining hall sits a huge cabinet filled with puzzles ranging from 300 to 1,000 pieces. Their generous policy is that you may bring puzzles or take as many puzzles as you like. The pool tables are always in use by smiling gentlemen and ladies. There is a quilt drop-in a couple of days a week. I'm impressed with how upbeat and cheery everyone is and I'm glad the city has created such a welcoming space for its seniors.

I have spinal stenosis and I was there with my special-needs son, and he acted as if we would not be able to use any of the fitness equipment due to our physicality. Again, I am horrified at the blatant ablest nature of this man. I didn't catch his name, but he had a shirt that said something Fitness on it. I assume he is involved with the fitness program.

I have to get my soda from a soda machine because the RPAC in the basement near the lockers only takes payments from students and facility who are members of the RPAC, but they have huge space for working out, taking fitness classes, and another pool that has 8 lanes (25 yards) that has a movable floor and waterslide area for families. The Dublin rec center gives you a free in-body test when you buy fitness passes which is a very…read morenice little perk but it's almost impossible to schedule it. I tried calling both the people (T & H, for short) who administer the test to schedule it and neither one called me back. I also texted one of them (H) and never heard back. So I called the rec center and they gave me the email for H. I emailed him and he replied and we scheduled it. Then, two hours before the time we had scheduled, he emailed me and said he would be teaching a class at that time and could I do it myself? I had never paid attention to the set-up of the procedure so I said no. So he said he would get someone to cover for him and he'd be there at our scheduled time. I got there early and waited about 15 minutes before I went to the front desk to tell them I needed help with the scheduled test. The person followed me back to the in-body room and pointed to a man and said "That's H". So he was out in the hallway having a conversation and I was waiting (at that point nearly 20 minutes) for him. He came in and gave me the test. Some version of this happens every 3 months when I buy new passes and have to run the gauntlet to get my free test and it is extremely frustrating.

Although I don't participate much anymore, I have enjoyed my experience and would encourage others…read moreto try it out. I don't drive anymore, so I limit my travel from home. The senior center has always been friendly and a great place to relax and talk with others. I had participated in their senior citizen's board and found that they responded quickly to any suggestions.

The building is rather odd with a poorly thought out design. The basketball court is at the south…read morearea, swimming pool at the north, and athletic equipment in an L shaped area at the center. Bodybuilders using weights are at the smaller part of the L shape in the south-west area of the building. The walls of the basketball court do not go all the way up to the ceiling so yelling, screaming, and thumping noises easily propagate throughout the building as do clanking sounds from the weight lifting area. Walls, floors, and the interior of the roof of this huge open space are all hard surfaces which exacerbate the noise problem. There are several TV's on the south wall but no remote control(s) to channel select. Speakers abound throughout the building often with annoying music that is more often than not in the foreground rather than background. This only serves to add to the ambient noise level. There are other oddities as well such as no place at the entrance to hang winter coats, rain coats, boots, umbrellas, etc. There are however, small lockable cubicles near the entrance where a rolled up jacket or other small items can be stowed. If you have large bulky winter items, it would be best to shed them and leave them in your car. The locker rooms are also lacking where lockers are just half-height and stacked one above the other. Having just one toilet and one urinal, this is grossly inadequate for the scores of members and staff using the building. And strangely, paper towel dispensers are numerous for wiping down the machines however none are to be found in the restrooms. Oddly, included under the hand blower is a trash container for paper towels that do not exist. When the blower runs, the plastic liner blows out into your face. Lastly, whoever designed the parking area was totally clueless. There is not enough space between the double rows of parking slots making getting in and out of spaces tight and difficult. Care must be taken as to not back into one of the other parked cars. Other than the oddities outlined, it's a welcomed addition to the community.

A big play area in the lobby, so Kid K and her friends hung out there some. There's also a pool and a workout center on the main floor, plus a track and basketball court upstairs. And more exercise areas, for all I know- it's a big building. Staff were friendly and helpful. The gallery up on the 5th floor has a nice balcony with seating. The whole place is shiny and new and comfortable, with many amenities. There's a small cafe in the lobby, and it sounds like another on maybe the 4th floor? If I were a UA resident I'd be here often. They allow non-residents to use the pool for a fee, and I'm sure other areas too. Many areas are available to rent for meetings or parties, and they have classes in various activities.

Linda, the secretary, who mans the front desk/reception area, always has a smile on. She's polite, friendly, and always tries to help you out (directions, local neighborhood questions, etc). This center is perfect size, too. There's a library room with comfy chairs to relax and read the day away. Walk past the library, and the space opens up to a large room/space for pretty much anything. Quilters come in here every Monday. Each lady takes up half of the large folding tables. There's room for ladies to spread out their patterns (how far along they've gotten). This is a treat: Other ladies are able to peruse by, give suggestions, and just plain gawk at the outstanding piece of work! Others groups meet here and have plenty of room for luncheons, meetings, etc. Off the main room is a limited kitchen. If you bring food, there's plenty of storage space. The building is always kept clean and orderly. There's plenty of space to move around. Around back, there is a huge lot for additional parking. The lot is shared with The Corvette Museum, but there's usually always squares to slide into. Plenty of local shops and restaurants within a 5 minute walk! Back to the reason you come, Gwen! The fellow quilting ladies are fantastic! Always there for you when you're looking for an opinion, or even if you have a technical question: Esthetically pleasing? How should I go about binding? I became a member of Temple Beth Shalom (TBS) during the time of marriage because the rabbi we…read moreused, Rabbi Benjy is affiliated with this synagogue. Ever since I joined the temple has definitely been very warm and welcoming. Rabbi Apothaker married my brother. For my brother it was very convenient to take lessons with Apothaker because they skyped before the actual ceremony here in Columbus. The ceremony was beautiful. Onto my ceremony, I loved it! Rabbi Benjy did a phenomenal job with both my husband and I. He even got the audience very engaged. They all loved him I heard! My husband and I started off with lessons like my brother but we actually met our rabbi in person, which I prefer because I like seeing people in person. I like to be engaged with the person who is marrying my husband and I and he did just that. The temple as a whole is just wonderful. They bring the Meshuga Notes (like a Jewish music group) to services on Friday's so that it is upbeat. They also have Marc Russo to engage with the kids with music lessons. As well as Angelo on the guitar. It's just a very nice atmosphere. I recently went to a ceremony this past weekend where they honored both the Israeli and American veteran's and I was very thankful they put it together. They obviously spent a lot of time and effort putting it together and making sure the choir had their music prepared. I appreciated everything they did to honor both my dad and brother as veteran's of the IDF (Israeli Defense Force). I am honored to be a member of this temple and would recommend it to any reform Jew's in the community.
