It also has performances at affordable prices. I was reminiscing about Portage Place. This mall in downtown Winnipeg isn't doing well for a number of reasons, including losing Eaton's and The Bay, which were fixtures. However, I was thrilled to hear that Prairie Theatre Exchange (PTE) is still alive and kicking on the third floor of this mall. When I first moved to Winnipeg, I took in a couple of performance at this theatre. Performer were talented, local folks. Tickets were affordable. It was a nice introduction to the arts in the city. I remember my friend being in an improvisation class at PTE. A woman, who graduated Glendon College, York University when I did, had also moved to Winnipeg and was in his class. What were the odds?! This class had a performance night. I worked at Air Canada Building across the street. I was working either the afternoon or evening shift. I asked if I could take my lunch roughly when his performance was about to start. My team in network operations were super accommodating. I didn't think that it would last long, but could be contacted by cell phone in case there were network issues. Staff were friendly. I sat in the audience and saw my friend do improv with his class. He was great and I had a fun time. I was here for maybe an hour. I was proud of my friend and his class. It took guts to do improv in front of an audience. The theatre doesn't do performances in the summer, which is why I never got to take in a show when I was on vacation in Winnipeg last July. My brief visit to the city in late December wasn't enough to do much, either. I hope that I can take in a show again soon when I revisit the city for a longer period. This theatre has student pricing, which is great. Regular admission doesn't break the bank. You can get a decent seat within the first five rows in front of the stage for under $50 these days. Portage Place has underground parking. It's heated in the wintertime because, well, it's Winnipeg. I don't think that I have ever parked at this mall. I either took the bus downtown or parked in an outdoor parking lot for work behind the Air Canada Building. I'm happy that PTE is still there. Pretty good cinema in the city, located at the St. Vital Centre…read more Amenities are standard, but this SilverCity has UltraAVX, full recliners, and D-BOX technology. All create a movie watching experience here that I believe is one of the best in the city. I recently watched F1: The Movie with UltraAVX, and it was a really good experience. I can see the increased sound quality and picture quality compared to the standard movie watching experience. Definitely a movie theatre that I'd recommend if you're in the south end.

They are attached to a mall. You have options to grab a bite to each before or after taking in a movie. You aren't limited to eating at the mall if nothing interests you, as there are eateries around both malls. Both theatres have plenty of parking. I was at St Vital Centre to meet up with a couple of friends. I had shopped for a bit after we parted ways and saw that Despicable Me 4 was playing at this SilverCity. I said yes to seeing it here. I was last at St Vital Centre in 2016. I last saw a movie at this SilverCity within the mall in 2011. Wow! The theatre is located next to Indigo. Both businesses have separate entrances from the mall. This SilverCity has ten theatres. There's lots of seating in each theatre, with plenty of legroom, which is important to me. The seats also recline. It's a nice feature. This theatre has an Xscape entertainment centre. It's essentially one large arcade with a ton of games. Seeing Doodle Jump was awesome! I played that game religiously when I had an iPhone. I downloaded this game on my Google Pixel phone after seeing this game here. I bought my ticket through the app. I wasn't hungry, but I did want to get a drink. I hit the concession stand to get a small Diet Coke. This SilverCity doesn't have fancy pop machines to fill your own cup with pop. I did get friendly customer service from a cheerful woman. I got my Scene card scanned to earn points. I headed to theatre 10. I grabbed a pair of 3D glasses. They were comfortable to wearing during this entire flick. I loved this movie. I love the Minions. It was enjoyable for the kids that were present and the adults. There weren't any meltdowns by any humans. Yay! I used the washroom afterwards. It was clean and in decent shape. It was nice breaking my more-than-a-decade streak by finally seeing a movie here. I had a great time. It's still a cool place to see a movie. (314)

Went here recently for a comedy show; this was my first time at this venue. Lots of staff keeping…read morean eye on security, tending bar, etc. Parking on-street in the neighborhood was limited but we came early and didn't have a problem finding a spot. Security kept us outside until the doors officially opened. Luckily the weather wasn't too bad. The event was fun, the venue was clean and neat. I was surprised it was folding seats rather than permanent seats but I guess that lets the venue be flexible. They had a full slate of events on their schedule, that is good news as we need more venues in Winnipeg. Noise from the club next door was a little noticeable at times, but not so much that it was a problem. I'd definitely go to more events here.

There's about 3 couches in the concert zone. They are thankfully comfy! Anywhere in the concert zone has a good view of the stage. It's very intimate and stress free. The floors are nice. The walls remind me of a movie theater wall. Minimalist. People at shows who drink beer can just drop their empty beer cans on site and after the show a staff member will clean everything up. It's great to collect Scene points. My movie, drink, and popcorn were all free. I redeemed 1000 points for the movie, and the same number of points for the munchies. I'd come back here again. It was a SilverCity Famous Players at Polo Park. I loved coming here because it was a standalone movie theatre on Polo Park property, across from The Bay (rest in department store peace), with shaded parking and huge movie screens. The shaded parking was key. It kept you cooler walking between the two buildings when it was hot outside. It helped keep you less frozen and damp during the wintertime. I returned last week to see the latest Mission Impossible flick. I've watched every single one in the series, so why break this streak now? This movie was playing at Scotiabank Theatre only. It was perfect to relive memories here. It's got 3D IMAX and D-BOX seating. You can also go cheaper with a regular seat, which is equally as good with comfy seating and lots of legroom. A Tuesday matinee is the best bang for your buck if you can do it. I paid for my ticket through the Cineplex app. It was easy to present my QR code when I got to the theatre. I had already eaten a breakfast sandwich before walking through the doors. I needed a drink and hit the concession stand. I got the nicest woman behind the counter. She was super nice and friendly. I got a regular Diet Coke. I got my Scene+ barcode scanned and used an e-gift card to pay for it. She also gave me a balance printout. Nice! The drink was cold and hit the spot. It was great. I liked being back here. The downside was the kid behind me kicking the back of my seat. I looked back a few times. The parents did nothing. Luckily, it was intermittent, but still annoying. The length of the movie was almost three hours. My bladder and I were so close sitting through the whole movie. It nudged me to use the women's washroom, which wasn't far away from the theatre that I was in. I left with half an hour to spare. The women's washroom was clean. No complaints. I returned to my row, but sat away from the kicking boy. It was so much better. I should have shifted over. I enjoyed the flick. I left at the right time to use the washroom. I didn't miss much. We got to use the dressing rooms, they set up all the chairs for us, and they let us have the run of the place for pictures (accept the stage). We had an issue with our party venue and almost couldn't get into it because the weekend manager died and the Pantages staff was ready to rally together and throw us a reception. They were so wonderful I can't even begin to touch on it. If you are looking for a fantastic alternative venue for any sort of event I recommend this place!! I visited in the middle of winter last year and it was fantastic. They've turned the old docking shelter for trains next to the station right into a rich tapestry of Winnipeg's past as a central shipping hub for North America. Rates are low--especially for students--and the sheer volume of detailed displays, preserved vehicles and train equipment, and interesting information is well worth the price of admission. There are multiple preserved trains cabs that you can explore inside of, my experience inside them brought me back to being a kid in the Children's Museum back before it was renovated. If you go in the winter, bring a coat! The interior is far too large and too old of a building to keep it heated, so it gets chilly!

They add some sunshine for the cold & dark Winnipeg fall-spring season. The Mtc is very decent size theater which is located downtown. One issue is parking which can be quite costly. I joined the annual subscriber program with a friend about 5 years ago. During the last two years another friend of mine has also joined in with us. I have the cheapest seats in the subscriber program. It is affordable & even though it is the cheapest seats you can comfortably and perfectly view the preformance. The subscriber program is a great way to see all preformances at a bit of a cheaper cost; instead of buying indivdual tickets. The subscriber program allows you to change dates if you are unable to attend without a fee. Also you get a discount on purchasing extra tickets if you want to bring a friend/family member. I find I use this option alot. I like to buy tickets as birthday or christmas gifts for friends or family. It makes for a great night out! The season runs from Oct to May with about 6 preformances. The preformances vary each season. The themes for preformances also vary from serious, classic, fantasy, new formed plays, musicals, holiday themed, dramas & comedies. The sets, costumes and visual effects during the preformances are always exceptional. You can truly see the effort, detail, passion & dedication. The actors and actresses are very talented and bring each preformance to light. The ushers and staff at MTC are always friendly and helpful. There is a small canteen to purchase alcohol and some snacks. MTC awakened my soul & brought love for live theater. It has brought many memories with my family and friends. I recommend to check out the shows online and head out to see one!

The six plays throughout the year are often varied and wonderfully done. For us there is about one play a year that is difficult to stay for the second act; however the other five more than make up for it. Each year there is at least one play that goes on our all-time favourite list and you can see the staff work hard on variety and quality. The sets are wonderfully done and the behind the scenes tour is outstanding. A true gem in our city!
