Sound is WAY too loud and not balanced. So I would recommend other theatres if you can but there are many movies that only run here. So I would go to this theatre as a kind of last resort. It's like a typical PVR theatre found in India. Not bad.

So, for those who want your seats to move, or bells and whistles, you aren't going to get that here. I enjoyed watching a matinee at this theatre. It was my first time visiting. I was watching a movie with one other woman. I was perfectly comfortable munching on popcorn and drinking Diet Coke. The flick was great. I had a drink holder. No complains there. It's great to collect Scene points. My movie, drink, and popcorn were all free. I redeemed 1000 points for the movie, and the same number of points for the munchies. I'd come back here again. It seems to show movies that were released a while ago, which suits me fine. (174)

I had already seen the first one, so it made sense to go with its follow-up to it. I took in a matinee. I splurged on seeing the 3D version of this movie. I learned that I could use my Scene points to pay for the difference between my Cineclub ticket and the upgrade to 3D. Nice! There was lots of parking in front of the theatre. I backed into a spot that was across from the main entrance. I then walked in. It felt like a cozy, casual place to meet up with someone to have a quick bite to eat and play some games. You can without committing to a movie. I needed something to munch on. The Bites side (left when you walk in) of the concessions has hot foods. On the right are your usual concessions for popcorn, candy, and more. I went for Bites. I got a hot dog and made it a combo, which consists of fries with a side ketchup, and a regular fountain drink. This combo was extremely cheap at $12 when you compare it to what you get at any Cineplex in the greater Toronto area. The hot dog and nachos combo with a drink in Ontario is at least $16. I waited for a bit for my order. I got my food in a takeaway box and a cup for my drink. I thanked the man and left to fill my cup with a drink. I like these fancy machines. I got Coke zero lime pop with some ice. It tasted yummy and refreshing. You get paper straws and lids in this area. The Xscape section was cool. I liked the huge arcade game where you can play Pac-Man and Space Invaders. I love 80's arcade games, so seeing them made my day. You can also hit the photo booth and take pictures, play pearl fisher to win prizes, and more. It was great. I found theatre 2 and my seat, placed my food and drink down, and hit the women's washroom that was close by. It was extremely clean and inviting. I headed back to the theatre. I like that the table swings forward. All seats recline with a touch of a button. It was nice, comfortable, and roomy. I felt VIP without breaking the bank. My food was yummy. The hot dog with fries hit the spot. They were hot and delicious. I liked the side of ketchup. It was a nice touch. The 3D glasses worked nicely. I loved the movie. The screen quality was excellent, as was the sound. I was comfortable and happy in an air-conditioned theatre. I loved taking in a movie here. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I had an excellent experience. (267)

All create a movie watching experience here that I believe is one of the best in the city. I recently watched F1: The Movie with UltraAVX, and it was a really good experience. I can see the increased sound quality and picture quality compared to the standard movie watching experience. Definitely a movie theatre that I'd recommend if you're in the south end.

They are attached to a mall. You have options to grab a bite to each before or after taking in a movie. You aren't limited to eating at the mall if nothing interests you, as there are eateries around both malls. Both theatres have plenty of parking. I was at St Vital Centre to meet up with a couple of friends. I had shopped for a bit after we parted ways and saw that Despicable Me 4 was playing at this SilverCity. I said yes to seeing it here. I was last at St Vital Centre in 2016. I last saw a movie at this SilverCity within the mall in 2011. Wow! The theatre is located next to Indigo. Both businesses have separate entrances from the mall. This SilverCity has ten theatres. There's lots of seating in each theatre, with plenty of legroom, which is important to me. The seats also recline. It's a nice feature. This theatre has an Xscape entertainment centre. It's essentially one large arcade with a ton of games. Seeing Doodle Jump was awesome! I played that game religiously when I had an iPhone. I downloaded this game on my Google Pixel phone after seeing this game here. I bought my ticket through the app. I wasn't hungry, but I did want to get a drink. I hit the concession stand to get a small Diet Coke. This SilverCity doesn't have fancy pop machines to fill your own cup with pop. I did get friendly customer service from a cheerful woman. I got my Scene card scanned to earn points. I headed to theatre 10. I grabbed a pair of 3D glasses. They were comfortable to wearing during this entire flick. I loved this movie. I love the Minions. It was enjoyable for the kids that were present and the adults. There weren't any meltdowns by any humans. Yay! I used the washroom afterwards. It was clean and in decent shape. It was nice breaking my more-than-a-decade streak by finally seeing a movie here. I had a great time. It's still a cool place to see a movie. (314)

It was a SilverCity Famous Players at Polo Park. I loved coming here because it was a standalone movie theatre on Polo Park property, across from The Bay (rest in department store peace), with shaded parking and huge movie screens. The shaded parking was key. It kept you cooler walking between the two buildings when it was hot outside. It helped keep you less frozen and damp during the wintertime. I returned last week to see the latest Mission Impossible flick. I've watched every single one in the series, so why break this streak now? This movie was playing at Scotiabank Theatre only. It was perfect to relive memories here. It's got 3D IMAX and D-BOX seating. You can also go cheaper with a regular seat, which is equally as good with comfy seating and lots of legroom. A Tuesday matinee is the best bang for your buck if you can do it. I paid for my ticket through the Cineplex app. It was easy to present my QR code when I got to the theatre. I had already eaten a breakfast sandwich before walking through the doors. I needed a drink and hit the concession stand. I got the nicest woman behind the counter. She was super nice and friendly. I got a regular Diet Coke. I got my Scene+ barcode scanned and used an e-gift card to pay for it. She also gave me a balance printout. Nice! The drink was cold and hit the spot. It was great. I liked being back here. The downside was the kid behind me kicking the back of my seat. I looked back a few times. The parents did nothing. Luckily, it was intermittent, but still annoying. The length of the movie was almost three hours. My bladder and I were so close sitting through the whole movie. It nudged me to use the women's washroom, which wasn't far away from the theatre that I was in. I left with half an hour to spare. The women's washroom was clean. No complaints. I returned to my row, but sat away from the kicking boy. It was so much better. I should have shifted over. I enjoyed the flick. I left at the right time to use the washroom. I didn't miss much. I'm so glad that I caught a couple of movies while I was in town. It was nice to return here. It hasn't changed, other than branding. (281)

I was surprised it was folding seats rather than permanent seats but I guess that lets the venue be flexible. They had a full slate of events on their schedule, that is good news as we need more venues in Winnipeg. One of them was to visit this Cineplex Odeon McGillivray Cinemas and VIP. It completed my visiting every Cineplex location in Winnipeg. This Cineplex location is the only one offering VIP experiences. I like the idea of dining while taking in a movie. The downside is that it's super expensive at any Cineplex VIP location, including this one. I took in F1: The Movie on my birthday. I chose going to the 4 pm show, which was perfect for me to have lunch and dinner before and after this flick. This Cineplex opened well after I had moved back to the greater Toronto area. It was nice to finally check it out. There was plenty of parking when I arrived. I parked fairly close to the entrance and walked in. I like that there's a ramp when you enter the building. It makes those who require a wheelchair enter and leave it more smoothly. There are also hand railings for those who need some sturdy help. Stairs can be difficult, so it was nice to not see them. I made a left and was at the concession stands. I had already had lunch, but needed a drink. I got a regular Diet Coke. The man at the concession stand was friendly and great. He scanned my Scene+ barcode on my phone, and then my e-gift card barcode to pay for my drink. Done and done! I found auditorium 8, which was next door to the VIP theatres. Sadly, the F1 poster wasn't there. I couldn't take my usual photo of it. What's cool about auditorium 8 is that you descend down to your seat. I chose row F. Everyone else was higher up, likely because they like being further up from the screen. I like being closer to it. At this theatre, it felt like I had the entire theatre to myself because no one sat around me. It was heaven! There was lots of leg room. I appreciated the drink holder. The screen was bright and crisp. The sound was amazing. The stairway was lit when the rest of the movie theatre was dark. F1 had a duration of 2.5 hours. I was so into this movie that it didn't feel like it was that long. My bladder also held up nicely. Yay! I used the washroom before I left. It's the same style of washrooms that you get at any Cineplex VIP. I like that you don't need to push a door to enter the women's washroom. You simply walk in and find a stall. The women's washroom was impeccably clean. It was bright and inviting. Full marks! I had a wonderful experience here. I'd definitely return to take in another movie when I'm in Winnipeg. (286)

Fried pickles with ranch: this was a wonderful appetizer. They used big quarter pieces of pickles and fried them lightly in batter. The dish wasn't oily at all. The ranch dip was a perfect compliment to the dill taste. The seats were nothing like I've ever sat in for a movie. It was like sitting on your own personalized couch. I'm 5'10 and my legs were sprawled out without touching the seat in front of me during the movie. I was even able to curl up and almost sit cross-legged in these seats. The tables placed on either arm rest was spacious enough for me to put everything on. They give each patron 2 cup holders too! It also has performances at affordable prices. I was reminiscing about Portage Place. This mall in downtown Winnipeg isn't doing well for a number of reasons, including losing Eaton's and The Bay, which were fixtures. However, I was thrilled to hear that Prairie Theatre Exchange (PTE) is still alive and kicking on the third floor of this mall. When I first moved to Winnipeg, I took in a couple of performance at this theatre. Performer were talented, local folks. Tickets were affordable. It was a nice introduction to the arts in the city. I remember my friend being in an improvisation class at PTE. A woman, who graduated Glendon College, York University when I did, had also moved to Winnipeg and was in his class. What were the odds?! This class had a performance night. I worked at Air Canada Building across the street. I was working either the afternoon or evening shift. I asked if I could take my lunch roughly when his performance was about to start. My team in network operations were super accommodating. I didn't think that it would last long, but could be contacted by cell phone in case there were network issues. Staff were friendly. I sat in the audience and saw my friend do improv with his class. He was great and I had a fun time. I was here for maybe an hour. I was proud of my friend and his class. It took guts to do improv in front of an audience. The theatre doesn't do performances in the summer, which is why I never got to take in a show when I was on vacation in Winnipeg last July. My brief visit to the city in late December wasn't enough to do much, either. I hope that I can take in a show again soon when I revisit the city for a longer period. This theatre has student pricing, which is great. Regular admission doesn't break the bank. You can get a decent seat within the first five rows in front of the stage for under $50 these days. Portage Place has underground parking. It's heated in the wintertime because, well, it's Winnipeg. I don't think that I have ever parked at this mall. I either took the bus downtown or parked in an outdoor parking lot for work behind the Air Canada Building. I'm happy that PTE is still there. I look forward to returning to take in a show one of these days. (129)

The subscriber program allows you to change dates if you are unable to attend without a fee. Also you get a discount on purchasing extra tickets if you want to bring a friend/family member. I find I use this option alot. I like to buy tickets as birthday or christmas gifts for friends or family. It makes for a great night out! The season runs from Oct to May with about 6 preformances. The preformances vary each season. The themes for preformances also vary from serious, classic, fantasy, new formed plays, musicals, holiday themed, dramas & comedies. The sets, costumes and visual effects during the preformances are always exceptional. You can truly see the effort, detail, passion & dedication. The actors and actresses are very talented and bring each preformance to light. The ushers and staff at MTC are always friendly and helpful.
