We have been taking our dogs to Cedar Dale for about 15 years. We always had a great experience…read moreand felt our babies were in good hands. It has recently changed hands and being managed by a new owner. It definitely has a different vibe which I guess I'm just not yet used to. The former owners, Peter and Bruce, were really in tune with our neurosis with leaving our dogs for extended periods. If we had concerns, they were promptly addressed and our minds were quickly put at ease. They had a long time, loyal staff that were really amazing and always made us feel totally comfortable. I think it's just going to take time for me to adjust to the new set up. The new owner seems wonderful and has an active Facebook page which provides pictures of what the dogs are doing on a regular basis. They have special dinners for the dogs on major holidays and make these homemade wonderful frozen treats that our dog goes nuts over. They have installed turf in all the play areas so the dogs come home with muddy paws, which I'm sure was very costly to have installed. Very nice upgrade. Our dog really enjoys her stay here. She loves the socialization and I appreciate that they mix it up where she gets to play with the big dogs and the little dogs. (She's only 40 lbs and usually prefers puppies and and little dogs). I hope Cedar Dale continues in the tradition of providing excellent service to their clients. It's clear that they love the animals and are engendering a warm, nurturing environment. I would encourage the staff to continue to work on communication skills. Communicating with a customer who is thousands of miles away while their pet is being boarded can be a challenge. Take the time to exude confidence that you've got everything under control and maybe follow up with a quick e-mail, especially if it's a long term boarder who is far away. I appreciate the Facebook page, it's a great way to convey to long term boarders that their pups are safe and happy!

After her first stay, a worker at pickup assured us that they work with each dog to figure out what she needs and that they could accommodate her. After her second stay, no concerns were reported to us. On her third stay, we received no calls or updates all day. At pickup we were told only that she had jumped a 6 ft fence into another fenced yard and that she is not allowed to return. We were given no details about what time it happened, how long she was out, or what was done with her afterward. If we had been called, we would have picked her up and kept her comfortable at home instead of leaving her confined for the rest of the day. If your dog is a climber or jumper, ask very specific questions about fence height, covered areas, and supervision before booking, and ask how and when they will contact you if something goes wrong. The staff were friendly during our earlier visits, but the lack of communication and follow-through on this visit was very disappointing, and we won't be returning.

These animals were well taken care of and were in good health. Their prices are very good compared to the local Petsmart. I purchased a bearded dragon from PetPals six years ago and I am still purchasing large crickets to feed him from PetPals, 12 crickets for a dollar (8.3 cents each). Compared to PetSmarts 14 cents for a single large cricket. I highly recommend visiting PetPals.

The professionalism, kindness, and compassion shown by the entire staff were truly extraordinary. I cannot emphasize that enough. Every person we encountered was patient, understanding, and gentle. They took the time to explain each step of the process, ensuring that we felt informed, comfortable, and supported during an incredibly difficult experience. I was already deeply touched by the care and compassion shown to both Gizmo and our family. However, when we received the heartfelt card signed by the staff, complete with Gizmo's paw prints, I was moved to tears with gratitude. What may seem like a small gesture to some meant more to us than words can express. You helped make one of the hardest days of our lives a little more bearable, and that is something we will never forget. Please keep doing what you do. Your compassion makes a difference, and I am forever grateful for the kindness you showed our sweet Gizmo and our family.

Took our dog to be spayed. 3 days later, while sitting on the floor, her sutures failed and she had…read moreblood all over the floor beneath her. The office was closed so we were told to drive to the Janesville emergency vet. Over the course of the 30 minute drive all of our dog's "insides" came out of the incision. She was literally gutted alive while our 6 year old daughter was in the vehicle. We ultimately lost our dog that evening- an event the emergency vet states is "rare". The dr that performed the surgery called the next day, and asked my wife if we stepped on our dog while basically stating he did nothing wrong. The entire incident was tragic and awful but we believed it was a "fluke"- something that was rare but could happen, we guessed- and we left it alone- we just wanted to emotionally heal and focus on ensuring our daughter was ok after everything. Fast forward several months later- another owner has the exact same thing happen to her dog after being sprayed by the SAME Dr at this clinic. 3 days after being spayed, while laying on the couch- her sutures failed also- and the rest of their story, unfortunately, is the same as ours. We tried to speak with the "Head Vet" at the clinic with regards to our concerns- he refuses to call back. He spoke with the owner of the 2nd dog this happened to and essentially told them "good luck proving we did anything wrong." Their stance is that because this dr has done many surgeries he couldn't possibly have made mistakes. They will not even consider there is a problem, much less even call us back to discuss our concerns. Go somewhere else- please- this was the most horrific thing we have ever experienced. We know it has happened to at least 2 dogs- We do not currently know if there are others out there as well thinking it was something "rare" and not saying anything. We've pulled all of our pets from this clinic. At this point we will be seeking further assistance in this matter but for the immediate time- please, go elsewhere.
