Dr. Resnick was fine as far as biology of the foot, but not helpful or attentive as far as insurance. I had gone to the fine Dr. Hilary Alpert of Healthcare Associates for years, and being a diabetic with neuropathy, was approved for orthotics for years, as long as I waited at least a year between requests. When Dr. Alpert was about to leave Healthcare, she wrote a prescription but referred me to Dr. Resnick or Dr. Raymond Walls (an orthopedist) for implementation. In anticipation, I called my insurance co. and got pre-approval with a representative name and a code number. Dr. Resnick was adamant (had to always have the "last word") that they shouldn't be approved in less than 5 years and that if I wanted her to order them, I had to leave a deposit of $400 in case her call to insurance "might" result in non-approval. Of course, I declined (actually, w/o insurance they cost only about $200), and went to Dr. Walls, who, experienced in diabetic foot care, agreed that they would be approved immediately, as they were, especially since they had been three times within the last five years. Indeed, I have beautiful new orthotics thanks to Dr. Walls and Romeo, the orthopedic co. representative, with a ZERO copay. Bottom line: Dr. Resnick did give a good foot exam, but wouldn't give an inch, as they say, on insurance.
