Beyond grabbing a loaf, we got a sandwich (the braised pork shoulder) and it was good but I felt like there was something missing! Maybe a crunch or something acidic or salty? The bread was also starting to disintegrate because the meat was wet which made it quite messy. Overall it was a decent sandwich tho!

Also ordered braised pork shoulder sandwich which needed a little more sauce imo but I'm just a saucy girlie, overall still thoroughly enjoyed. Ordered the Flat Salvaje for coffee and liked it! Also the chocolate croissant which topped off the meal so nicely.

Ice cream Spanish is fairly straightforward. At Helados Italia I was suddenly transformed into one of those situations like Jack Nicholson in Five Easy Pieces. I wanted one scoop of pistachio ice cream in a cup, not a cone. Sounds simple but apparently the rules at Helados Italia do not allow it. You can get one scoop in a small cone. Or you can get a cup filled to the brim with ice cream -- about 0.25 l, way more than I wanted. But you cannot get one scoop in a cup. I'll spare you all the details but I may have written a new chapter in the voluminous book of Americans making a scene in a foreign country as I explained that I want one scoop -- una bolita, una bucha -- in a cup and the very frustrated young woman told me that was against the rules. I ended getting ice cream in a cone which ran all over my hand as I ate it. Ugh. That said, the pistachio ice cream at Helados Italia was fabulous.

Our guide had recommended Freddo, but we ended up loving Lucciano much more. I'd even say it's better than some of the gelato I've had in Italy. Yes, I said it! On my first visit, I got a small with Coco Rock and Dubai Chocolate, and it was absolutely divine. I enjoyed it so much that I upgraded to a medium on my second visit. Unfortunately, with our limited Spanish, I think there was a mix-up and I only got one scoop of Dubai Chocolate instead of two, so that was a bit of a bummer. If I ever make it back to Buenos Aires, I might just get a whole tub of the Dubai Chocolate flavor. Also, their ice pops are so adorable, they're almost too cute to eat!

There were a lot of people here looking for some of these exotic flavors. It was very convenient to have this shop right accros the street from our hotel. That worked out well! My only challenge was communicating exactly what I wanted in English. The service was fine and I like their model of paying for what you want then ordering the flavors you want. While it is easy to say "Chocolate" or "Vanilla," size and method of delivery was a little more difficult. But, in the end all worked out and we left happy and REALLY enjoyed the gelato. Many people were here to buy cones, cups and event larger sizes to bring home. Clearly Lucciano's has a strong following. KUDOs to the team at Lucciano's
