This place has such a homey vibe and you feel welcome right away. The staff greeted my boyfriend and I and walked us through all of the beer and food offerings. I wish I was hungry because their food sounded incredible! We tried several of their beers and really enjoyed them. They offer lots of different styles and you can order a flight of four, which is great. My favorite was the Pumpkin Ale. They also have several different local wines available. We'll definitely be back to try their food and more of their beers!

Been here three times and the beer is seriously great! One of the very few microbreweries that makes pilsners. This last time we went (Feb '24) they had TWO Pilsner styles and both were fantastic. Decor is a little sparse- They have this awesome bar with a big mirror woodwork, etc (that I hear they salvaged from another place) and it's empty. Normally there would be bottles and glasses but this place only has a beer license- still, it's sparse. We have not tried the food, yet. Will update when we do! Cheers!

Beer here is excellent. Always good but heavily weighted with IPA's, NEIPA's, and sours- I can't…read moreunderstand why they or anyone would have more sours than they have lagers and pilsners. Yuck. But their single lager and single pilsner are always good/consistent. And they have one meddle/award that they are proudly showing off, and they should but guess what kind of beer it is? A Pilsner. Take the hint you don't need 17 easy to make no effort IPAs that all taste the same. Food seems like an afterthought here. It's consistently average. They make a decent pizza here, but it's always soggy. The outside crust typically is perfect, often with a light char which is nice, but underneath the cheese and sauce, which they to put too much of on and undercook it, you wind up with a soggy slice of pizza that tastes OK. I also had their poutine recently. I can live with the vegetarian turkey gravy, which tasted pretty good, cheese curds were OK but what's going on with these fries? Soggy, brown. Are they brown because they're fry oil is disgusting? Are they just cooking the crap out of these things. I can't imagine that's the case because they're not crispy at all and taste awful. Waiting and bar staff seem to be wonderful people- they're attentive, food comes out relatively quickly. Service is not rushed. Atmosphere in this place is pretty good though I would like to have the music turned up a little bit louder so it's just not background noise and so you can actually hear the lyrics or discern what song is being played. Music done right can be part of the experience. Right now it's just a soft rumble in the background and it just becomes an annoyance. There's literally been extensive research on music in your restaurant and bar and how loud it's supposed to be and the music selection. Why places like this pay absolutely no attention to that research is beyond me. MUSIC IS IMPORTANT! Treat it that way please. Ultimately, even though the food is averaged to below average, and I can't hear the music, we continue to come back here because of the beer . Imagine if they put the same effort into their menu...

Various table games are available to take to your table. nice touch to keep kids occupied. Ordering food and drinks for outside tables isn't the best system as you have to go to bar to make order. They had one person back there and she was overwhelmed making drinks and taking orders. Must be an easier system to implement for making food orders. We had a party of 8 so was very difficult keeping track and going back and forth. Maybe during busy times a waitress would be best and non peak hours ordering at bar would be fine. Dog cup of meat is a nice addition on menu. Dog was happy! Beer was excellent. Good variety and fair pricing. Frosted beer glasses would be even better. Food was average bar food at best. Burger patty was thin and flavorless. Pork on sandwich was extremely dry but sauce on it helped. Poutine fries were good and gravy was great but no curds to be found just melted cheese. Should be called disco fries not poutine fries. Biggest minus we encountered was the awful stench in the parking lot and on the patio occasionally depending on the wind. I mean come on ! This has to be addressed !!! Can't eat and drink in sewer stench. People covering their noses in parking lot on the way in is not ideal :) Get a pro and fix this asap ! If you're going to open the first brewery in a town that has been dry for almost 100 years (in case…read moreyou were wondering why Argyle Brewing is one town over...) you'd better do it right. And this place does it more than right. Opening in November shortly after the ordinance allowing alcohol sales in the town, Highlander brews excellent beers served in a lovely setting. Billing themselves as a "farm to pint" brewery, Highlander is situated on a beautiful, sprawling farm, where they grow their own hops and barley (used in their own products as well as to produce malt for themselves and to sell to other local brewers). While they have a cool indoor taproom, the current Covid restrictions naturally mean that outdoor seating with food options are the current setting, which only allows you to enjoy their excellent beer with a lovely outdoor view. I tried the Fir Baby, a hazy ale with that might be a great option for people who dislike the overpowering hophead IPAs--the beer featured the unique touch of fir tips from farm Christmas trees in lieu of/to supplement traditional hops, creating an interesting flavor profile. The other beer I tried was simply excellent, a Brown Maple Ale. Now I love brown ales and I love maple syrup, but offerings like this always make me a little nervous, as I fear they inevitably turn out too sweet. Not this, which had a wonderful beer flavor with just that slight maple hint at the end--according to the brewer, the maple is added in fermentation and not after. At any rate, it was subtle and wonderfully done. My friend tried the Blonde Ale and the Strawberry Rhubarb Blonde and enjoyed them both. Diverse beer offerings (a couple of IPAs on the menu as well), all reasonably priced and most in the 5-6.5% ABV range. Would have liked to try a stout, but they said they usually feature those more in the winter than the summer, which is understandable. The food truck was a nice touch--if it's not just a Covid tack-on, I think it would be a great idea to keep. Having a few options (such as the tasty mozzarella sticks) to try with the beer was a nice touch, and probably kept us there a bit longer. Staff was friendly--our server Nicole was great and knowledgeable about the beers, and as mentioned, one of the owners, Jeff, swung by to ask how we were enjoying everything and discuss the beers and ingredients with us. Also as mentioned, a very lovely setting to enjoy a beer. A bit tough to get to/off the main road, but the trip--and the beer--is certainly worth it.

Between the four of us, we tried a flight of ciders and the seasonal mule that the bar made; the mule was a hit and so were the 1911 ciders. The Brooklyn ciders were more wine-like in flavor profile, so we didn't finish those. As for food, we tried the spicy cheese curds (can confirm that spicy is an understatement there!), the brisket nachos, two burgers, and the fried pickles. Everyone really enjoyed their food, and the overall atmosphere of this place was nice and relaxing; I could easily see this being a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike.
