Cicciuzzu is simply a legend. For all us kids in the 80's this name is deeply connected with the sweet memories of Sicilian summers spent at the beach. Cucciuzzu, the owner, used to come from the sea with his boat on hot days, selling ice cream to all of us dying for refreshment.
Later on Cucciuzzu opened two land-based ice cream cafés and he started making ice cream history. He invented the concept of "gelato imbottito", literally "stuffed ice cream", a blend of different flavours mixed with bits of sponge cake. To dye for.
Cucciuzzu sadly passed away a couple of years ago, but the business is continued by his family with equal success. And I cross fingers that they will go on for the next million years.
