No frills just good Italian cuisine. I highly recommend the lasagna and bolognese though we have never had a bad meal. Take out is also a good option. The prices are unbelievably reasonable and the family that owns it will become a part of your family if you go regularly. Maria's is an institution on the westend and has been there for more than 20 years.

Three of us had the special which was a taglialini with white truffles. Outstanding and a reasonable price. We all requested the small portion and it was the perfect appetizer size. The salmon melted in my mouth and had a wonderful salt taste. It came with a medley of fresh vegetables: a few carrots, a broccoli and cauliflower head, and a few potatoes and some string beans. The Veal Milanese had mixed reviews. My Italian friend from Milan thought it was not perfect, a little oily. He gave us the history of the dish as we ate. But my Argentinian friend thought the scallopine was good and loved it. My Mexican friend had the veal scallopine and he thought the portion was too big but he thought it was excellent. There was a perfect amount of mushrooms in the perfectly caramel colored sauce. He did not finish it. Upbeat Italian music at a reasonable volume, lighting perfect to see each other and menu. Service good- there when we needed him. When we chose the wine, he recommended another which was an excellent suggestion. Festive Christmas decorations. Exposed brick wall We were given a complimentary grappa and lemoncello at the end.

I was actually hope someone taking us to a nice family style German restaurant. However, my initiation couldn't have be more wrong. When we first walked in, I was taken back because the place seemed really nice. And its nice to see a cool looking Italian restaurant in a small German town. We quickly grabbed a table, sat down and started looking at their menu. Since they only have menus in German, I was able to pick something with the help with my co worker. Can't remember exactly what I had since I was too embarrassed to take a picture of my dish in front of the entire office staff, but from my memory I thought it was pretty good. The service from what I remember was pretty good. I didn't order any alcohol beverage to drink, but they filled my water constantly. Over all, not a bad place for lunch. They do have a outside patio dinning area, however, I doubt anyone would want to have their lunch outside where the temperature was in the low 40s.
