We finally gave Chuy's Tex Mex a try and overall, it was a good experience. We ordered the beef fajitas, creamy green chile enchiladas, and the appetizer plate, which offered a nice variety of bites. The appetizer plate had a few standouts--especially the Panchos, which were like individual nachos loaded with toppings on each chip. The chicken flautas were crispy and flavorful, and the little chicken quesadilla-taco hybrids were fun and satisfying. The beef fajitas came sizzling hot with grilled peppers and onions and were well-seasoned. The creamy green chile enchiladas had a nice texture and the sauce was rich and mild, perfect if you're not into spicy food. Speaking of spice, the salsa was very tomato-forward--more like a bowl of diced tomatoes with a hint of seasoning than a traditional salsa. Good flavor, but we were hoping for a bit more heat. The handmade tortillas were a nice touch--more like soft, slightly doughy pitas than classic tortillas, but they held up well, especially with the fajitas. Portion sizes were just right for the price point, and everything felt reasonably priced for a sit-down Tex Mex spot. The service was great--friendly, attentive, and fast. While we enjoyed the meal overall, nothing really stood out as particularly unique or crave-worthy. There are other Tex Mex spots we prefer in the area, so we probably won't return. Still, we'd recommend giving it a try if you haven't. Most people will find something to enjoy, and it's definitely worth a visit to see if it hits your taste preferences. We ordered on line and picked up our new order. When we got home it was missing the jalapeno ranch dressing ($13). We tried calling back to and we're placed on indefinite hold. I drove back to Chuy's and was able to get in touch on the way. They said they were sorry and would get me the missing item. I got to the restraint and stood around waiting for someone to talk to. When someone finally asked what I needed they went back and got the Jalapeno Ranch. Came back and handed it to me with dressing running down the side. For the dinner we wanted, it still satisfied what we were looking for. We helped ourselves to the complimentary chips and salsa and ordered the tortilla soup and beef fajitas. The pico de gallo salsa was really sour and a bit too salty. The tortilla soup was also on the sour and salty side which made it below average. I generally appreciate sourness, but only when it's done right. The beef fajitas were good and had a good ratio of meat to veggies. Our server, Hailey, was enthusiastic, helpful, and attentive. We tend to come during the lunch hour or early, so I cannot speak to how crowded the restaurant make it during peak times and hours. Like any restaurant, sometimes they may be shortstaffed, so keep that in mind When reviewing and saying your service was slow. Sometimes such things are beyond the control of the restaurant. At other times, obviously, service may be poor due to a server for attitude or some other problem. I just hate seeing reviews which dis a restaurant because they had a long wait or the kitchen was slow. Admittedly, I am from Texas and I love Tex-Mex food. I didn't think it would be an elevated or infusion type Mexican restaurant so although it's not a 5 star restaurant, I am giving it 5 stars for what it was. They make most of their dishes vegetarian too if you ask even though it's not listed on the menu specifically. I tried the chile rellenos with the veggie enchilada (instead of chicken) combo. I chose the deluxe verde sauce on the rellenos which was very tasty and the enchilada defaulted to ranchero sauce so kept that. So when I saw no one has been yelping on Chuy's that should have been a clue. We used to love Chuy's in Orlando and we miss the good old days of freshly made tortillas and deep fried chile rellenos. Post COVID the menu has never rebounded. We were in a pinch and decided we would try the Chuy's which would be our third time since it opened. Needless to say this trip wasn't the charm. The chips and the sides of their sauces still were good and our server was awesome. The prices for a beer have skyrocketed as most things lately. We went with two cold beers and decided on the taco enchilada combo platter served with rice and beans. The taco was good but the cheese enchilada hardly had any cheese which was unfortunate. The rice was a bit bland but the beans had a lot of flavor. The side of hatch chile sauce was pretty good served warm and had a great heat level. I love Chuy's salsa- it the best in town in my opinion! I tried something different I got the chicken fajita quesadilla and it was scrumptious. The cheese was perfect, the chicken was well cooked. If you craving a quesadilla I highly recommend coming here! My other 1/2 had the crispy beef tacos and he said he didn't like them too much. I tasted them and they tasted fine- definitely could of used some more flavor in the meat. If you are looking for a good tax-mex place to eat Chuy's is an excellent choice! GF and I both ordered fajita chicken quesadillas, and between the two plates, there were four strings of burnt-to-a-crisp onions and/or peppers (so small and burnt we couldn't tell). Place is a shell of what it used to be. Mostly have issues with staff, whether it's the overly emotional panicked hostess, or the completely unprofessional staff. If you come to Chuy's within the last hour-and-a-half before they close, the hostess will ask if you want to eat at the bar and then act upset if you instead request to have a table in the restaurant. You will then be seated at a table next to the door to the kitchen, where you will then be able to hear the cacophony of the kitchen radio playing on top of the music piped into the main dining area. The staff will be rushing to clean the tables and dining area in order to go home, and your server will be annoyed whenever you need something. I've had this experience on a few occasions now. If you are going to eat here, be sure to avoid the last couple hours they are open -- the hostess and waitstaff don't want you to come in at that time. Had lunch here for my husband's birthday. Food was amazing!! That ranch dip is hard to recreate so it will keep you coming back. I ordered the ground beef taco salad which was unexpectedly "deconstructed". I have never had one like this before and it was huge and delicious. The margarita flavors here are some of the most unique and best in town. Our server was simply the best! She looked at our IDs when we ordered margaritas and noticed that it was my husband's birthday when neither of us had mentioned it. She went out of her way to make sure his lunch was special. Stay away from this place! The chips are dangerous! You can't stop eating them especially with the green chili Ranch dressing! I tell myself every time I'm not going to overeat those chips but I do! They are so light and crispy and salty and utterly delicious. Although I've been here several times I always order the cobb salad and it's so filling and never disappoints. I like sitting in the bar area because it's a little quieter, unless I can sit outside which is Heavenly because you can see the mountain range and Pikes Peak. I went to Chuy's because the restaurant was giving 10% of food purchased to the humane society last night (you had to say something to your server). I LOVE places that support the humane society! Why the lower rating and what's this about the nachos? I ordered nachos for $10.59 (at the bar to eat on the patio) and a water. I was asked if I wanted to add meat (AKA Panchos). Nope that's $3 more! I was asked if I wanted to add guacamole or sour cream. I asked if it cost extra since the menu doesn't list a charge. I was told $1. I asked if it was $1 for each or $1 for both guac and sour cream. I was told $1 for both ... so I got guac and sour cream. The food came relatively quickly. The nachos were about 7 chips of large size with toppings. I didn't get complimentary chips, salsa, and creamy jalapeño. I didn't get utensils ... or napkins ... or water. It was messy. No one came to check on me ... or make eye contact. So, what is $10.59 + $1? It's $14. That's about $2/chip ... I could have gotten meat AND guacamole $13.09 by getting the Panchos! The bartender said "Oops. I guess the prices changed recently. That's what it is now." I asked for water as I was paying my bill. The water glass was sticky and chipped. I asked for another glass. The bartender handled 2 other orders before getting me a replacement water. I spoke to the manager and thanked her for supporting the humane society. I also shared that the prices I paid were much higher than I was told. She told me that at least it goes toward increasing the total for the humane society.
