This restaurant is a hidden gem on the 3rd floor of Terminal 1. They have "rooftop" seating…read more(actually covered with a huge skylight) and balcony overlooking a portion of the terminal. Or you may dine inside at cozy tables with cloth napkins. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with colorful traditional Mexican art. I felt like I walked into a different world far away from the bustle of the airport.
The extensive menu has everything from traditional Mexican delights (antojitos), tacos, to soups and salads, beef, chicken, seafood, and even delicacies like crickets or escamoles for the adventurous. I chose a tlalpeño soup and a the Chile relleno. They were delicious!
They have a full bar for those who want it, but I chose one of their refreshing aguas frescas. They also offer soft drinks or bottled water and coffee. I was too full for a dessert, though they looked amazing.
Prices run high for Mexican standards: between 200 to 500 pesos an entree. But considering the excellent table service, enchanting decor, the quality and presentation of the food it is worth it. I've paid more in the USA for far less.
The servers are attentive and friendly, dressed with unique traditional Mexican accessories. When we asked one to take our picture, he offered us sombreros to wear for the picture. Sure, why not?
The restrooms were clean as was everything I saw.
I have been through this airport numerous times but never had seen them before. I will certainly return when I get the chance.
