This was stop number one on our Sunday Ramsgate pub crawl. This was also where we kicked off the day by laying a solid foundation of Sunday Roast. For only £8.95 one had a choice of beef, lamb, pork, chicken or vegan nut roast. This was a very good value, and was a lot of food for the money.
I went beef, and as rare as they could (which was on the high side of medium-rare). The beef itself was good, if not exceptional. It came with a a nice gravy. This also covered the largish Yorkshire pudding, a tasty roast potato, and a surprisingly enjoyable ball of stuffing with strong notes of sage. The veg was carrots, peas in the pod, and broccoli. They were nicely not overcooked. Perhaps my favorite thing in the plate was a largish serving of cheesy cauliflower.
I washed all this down with a very traditional pint of ale. The service was very good. Our server, Andy, was quite tolerant of the many questions and demands of our eight person group. read more
