Service requested was a prenuptial review of an agreement drafted by another lawyer close to home…read more The original agreement was drafted and fully executed with all communications for $1500 by another lawyer. The agreement had very minor adjustments needed as we have no children, and I simply needed it reviewed by independent council. While the document did change from a prenuptial agreement to a marriage The lawyer at Patterson law was professional, and did a good job explaining each step of the process. However, they charged over $3300 to review the same document that other lawyers have stated should have cost between 500-1500$ based on the simplicity of reviewing a basic agreement. I would caution against using Patterson law if you're looking for value, as you can likely find equally competent and professional lawyers for about half of the price else where. Summary: Most importantly, look else where for better value from a lawyer.

Unfortunately, there was a lot of drama, animosity and distrust amongst our family, including towards the executor. I won't get into the details of that. But, look: I'm sure we're not the first and won't be the last family to have disputes over an estate. Patterson law made several sloppy mistakes in names and dates and, most importantly, insisted that beneficiaries sign a form saying that we received all expected payouts from the estate, before we actually received anything. I wrote to the lawyer. He never responded. His paralegal responded that this is "standard practice". I am sure you can understand that, in a situation where there is already a lot of tension and distrust, this added a lot of fuel to the fire! Note that as executor of an estate, you can hire any lawyers you want. You don't have to stick with the lawyers who helped write the will.
