After visiting this pub and having a staff member be rude, I contacted their customer service department over this matter.
This was on the 4th September, 2014. It's now been 30 days and I have not received a reply or an apology, very poor service for a JD Wetherspoons.
My email to their customer service regarding the said issue.
I'm writing to inform you that I had a negative experience at your location in Church house, Wath upon Dearne on August the. I can provide proof of my visit if you wish, and the person who handled my initial order was named Luke.
First of all, I recognize that you, the reader of this letter, are not responsible for my bad experience, but I am still upset about the situation.
I went to order some Cocktails Pitchers, when I got to the bar a young gentlemen asked what I would like and I said I would like to order 2 of the Cocktails Pitchers, Luke then advised me that they do not have any pitcher jugs that are clean at this point in time, he then started to politely advise me that he would get some clean. He said to me, give me 5 minutes and I will have some for you, now before I could respond or even say a word.
Out of nowhere another staff member jumped in and rudely saying we is busy, if you don't want to wait order something else (in a tone that sounded annoyed with what I had ordered), I have no idea why Elaine jumped in on a conversation that had nothing to do her. Also Luke had the matter in hand as I could see the bar was busy and his reasons for not being able to do the Cocktails made perfect sense to me.
The young gentlemen apologised for her behaviour, as I pointed out that I had already been told why I couldn't get the Pitchers at the moment in time, but when I asked what her name was, she just ignored me and started to be rude with another customer!
I didn't need to ask any of the staff her name as 3 customers had no problem telling me who she was while stood at the bar, and how she is always rude to customers. One customer told me if you order something and it requires any effort on her part, she will make excuses or just go off and serve someone else!
When I went up after 5 minutes for the Pitchers, I was served by the Manager I think (Beryl) who served me quick and efficiently, Once I was sat down I could see whenever Elaine serving customers would rarely go up to be served.
If this is the level of service you want provide to customers by employing staff like Elaine, well I can say I won't be coming back. I would have thought staff like that would be either out back so they can't be that rude to customers or not employed at all.
In addition to all this I was over from Manchester to see my partner for the weekend, which ruined my Friday evening, as I could not get my head round how someone like that was allowed to serve people? it was also extremely inappropriate. I was so annoyed by the situation and shocked at her attitude that I left without having any more drinks.
I feel very disappointed with this interaction, as I usually enjoy my experiences at your bar/restaurant. To fix this situation, I think a coupon for a free meal of my choice. But most importantly, I think an apology from Elaine is also appropriate.
Not just to me but to the young gentlemen (Luke) who served me, as it put him in a very awkward position to say the least.
Please contact me at ********* or email me back at *********. I would like this situation to be resolved so I can continue to be a loyal JD Wetherspoons customer.
