IPC is a warm, progressive, and inclusive congregation…read more The sermons are challenging and thought provoking without judgement or condescension. The congregation is encouraged to approach the Bible with their intellect and affirm their faith through fellowship. The music is neither contemporary nor traditional, but powerful and inspiring. I especially enjoy the frequent use of marimba. My family is happy to have found such a fantastic home.

Blues Vespers is the award-winning venue for the best local--and sometimes national--blues anywhere. It's the invention of blues nut Pastor Dave Brown, who always reads some inspiring and thoughtful poetry during the concerts--just enough to make you think, and feel grateful for love and life and blues. Especially blues. Blues Vespers is free to everyone, but generous donations during the pass-the-plate keep the musicians fed and warm. Come to Tacoma: you will love it.

At Urban Grace, everyone was very warm, caring welcoming to me - even though I was a stranger. They immediately invited me to a few social events and really opened themselves up to me. One year later, I am surrounded by some fantastic, warm, funny and wonderful friends every time I go there. I am very pleased with the way this worked out and how God's grace is really flowing through the Urban Grace community. I highly recommend Urban Grace church if you are looking for a great place, filled with people who care; who are living and breathing God's love and grace to others.

The service was confusing. People of the congregation were not friendly even during "Passing of Peace", they only passed peace with their friends. Do not wear church Sunday clothing but everyday wear, even the Pastor wears causal clothing, I was truly overdressed. I might attend Bible Study, to give it another try. But I do not believe I will attend Sunday service unless I get up late because the service starts at 1030. Although you attend church to focus on Jesus, the spirit of the Lord needs to be in the midst.. which is my opinion. So, please remember to dress causal and come with friends.

This is by far the most warm and welcoming church I have been to. Pastor Dean is such a…read moredown-to-earth spiritual leader who does an amazing job at relating the Bible to every day experiences. He is relatable and humble. I have never got the feeling that he looks down on anyone who steps into the church. I have been to other churches where that definitely is the vibe. All the leaders here seem extremely genuine (besides one but I keep my distance from them). The kids and youth ministry is awesome! My children all love going every single week and choose to participate in additional activities when possible. The worship team jives so well together and mix it up from week to week. Each of them enjoy what they're doing and you feel that when they sing and play. If you're searching for a church try this one out. And if it isn't for you, ask anyone who attends, I'm sure they'll offer you other suggestions in the area.

Bethany is open and affirming, making sure to state at the beginning of the service that all people are welcome, no matter their beliefs or where they are in their spiritual path. At the same time, the community seems to authentically struggle with being faithful Christians and followers of Jesus, and they take their Bible seriously. I was blown away by the pastor. She's young yet very wise, and her sermons are amazing. She really wrestles with the text, has a deep knowledge of the Bible, and is honest and real. The church has a bent towards justice and interfaith dialogue, as evidenced by the collections and different activities throughout the week.
