It is unbelievable, that there are actual horrible human beings like this. They call themselves a "lawyer" that claim to help individuals with specific cases. Her tactic is to get people to think she is a genuine, empathetic person, who has much experience with these cases. WRONG!! Veronica Barton pretty much stole thousands of dollars from me, without doing absolutely anything for my case. You will NEVER see Veronica face-to-face and she will always have Luisa or Ellie text you or email you back. For court dates, you will never see her and she will ALWAYS send somebody else (older men who can barely walk and don't have a CLUE about your case) on her behalf. It is an absolute circus and nightmare!! After months and months of being so patient and thinking she will still help you, when you request to speak to her directly via phone, there is always an excuse that she is busy. Remember, I am her client too, paying her thousands of dollars to represent me. Then, when you finally get to speak with her, she will send you an invoice (while still taking to you) for $350!!!! When you finally call her out on her BS, she gets very defensive and starts calling you "dude." What type of legitimate, professional lawyer calls their client dude?! She will call you in the middle of the night, half drunk, referring to her client as "dude." I swear you cannot make this stuff up!!! I ended up paying for another lawyer, and he was able to drop my case within a year!!! Karma will get this piece of work. She is out here taking FULL advantage of vulnerable people at their lowest times in their lives. Disgusting!!!

I scheduled a $350 consultation with this attorney because I was actively looking for legal…read morerepresentation in a domestic violence restraining order case. Before booking, I asked the person who answered the phone at her office if she was currently accepting restraining order cases, and I was told yes. Based on that -- along with her website and YouTube presence, which present her as someone who regularly handles these cases -- I booked the consultation with the intent to hire her. After the consult, she quoted me a flat fee of $17,500 -- which is nearly FOUR times the average market rate for a DVRO case in Los Angeles County (typically $3,500-$5,500). On top of that, I was told there would be an additional $2,500 charge for each court appearance after the initial hearing, if it became necessary to return. No clear explanation was provided for this INFLATED pricing, and nothing in her public content or reviews indicated she charges these kinds of rates. When I expressed concern that the pricing seemed designed to push me away rather than reflect the real cost of the case, she refunded the $350 consultation fee -- without me asking. While I appreciated the refund, it felt more like a move to silence me and avoid ethical scrutiny or a negative review, rather than genuinely addressing the issue. After looking further into her business model, it became clear that her practice seems centered more around selling legal advice specifically for restraining order cases, rather than actively providing legal representation in them. She offers a single online course that teaches people how to fight restraining orders themselves, and charges $750 for a 30-minute "strategy session" specifically related to restraining order cases. During our meeting, she also admitted that she only takes a "select few" restraining order cases PER YEAR. None of this was disclosed before the consultation. I didn't pay $350 to be sold a course or coaching -- I paid because I believed, based on what I was told and what I saw online, that I could retain her for representation. If her actual focus is guiding people to represent themselves while turning most cases away, that should be clearly disclosed in advance. I don't believe the $17,500 quote for retainer was ever meant as a serious offer -- it felt more like a polite way to decline the case while still profiting from the consultation. The tactic is: make the cost so ridiculously and abnormally high so that I'm forced to walk away on my own, rather than she being the one to tell me "no." It's obvious that she profits from the consultation fees and strategy sessions and courses/social media she sells to make up for the lost income from not providing true legal representation for restraining order cases on a regular basis. This approach lacks transparency and misleads clients who are sincerely seeking concrete legal help and not just "advice." I believe she doesn't disclose this because fewer people may pay for "only advice" if they knew she wasn't willing to go all the way to provide actual representation.

A disgruntled ex gf decided she would destroy my life for not wanting to take her back after a year of us breaking up. She fabricated a scenario out of this world and filed a police report amongst other things. I was devastated, shocked, scared and so I yelped. I found Mia. After my initial consultation I knew I wanted her to represent me. I researched 2 other lawyers at her advice and still chose her and I am glad. She is honest, straight forward and makes you feel like you are her only client. She is thorough and reassuring. She never gave me false hope but rather prepared me for the worst. Since i was never questioned by any authorities she found all the flaws and inconsistencies with the police report my ex filed and the case was poof* She isn't the cheapest but when your livelihood and threat of deportation is at stake; the cost is worth it. She will work with you financially and around your schedule. Her co attorney Marsha is terrific. The duo prep you very very well. The most supportive team. Thank you Mia and Marsha, you are my heroes.
