I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to hotels…read more Give me a room with no roaches, a decent bed, and a shower than stays eternally hot. That's pretty much all I need. In Valdez, just about every hotel runs ~$100 (summer prices). So I hit up Yelp to see which one had the highest ratings and, here I am! It's a nice, polished, chain hotel. It has a decent restaurant attached. It always has hot coffee up front. And it's got feral bunnies running around outside. What's to complain about? *BONUS* the showers here are some of the best I've had at any hotel. They are TALL! I'm tall and I have to duck down to get the most out of most showers, not here! Seemingly endless hot water too, great after a day of climbing ice!

This hotel is beyond shabby, it is run down and management obviously doesn't care. Every where you…read morelook the floors are filthy and the areas around the restaurant and especially the kitchen are the worst. I will say the sheets and towels appeared to be well laundered but I wouldn't walk on the carpet without shoes because it was sticky. I could go on and on but I will finish by saying they simply don't care

The setting is quiet and the accommodations are nice. My friends and I stayed in the Eagle's Nest Cabin. It has ample room for six people making it an economical destination for a family or a bunch of friends. I searched for other properties and came up empty-handed. The ones that did have room looked more like a motel than a hotel (a bit shabby at best). If you are considering the area, consider the Robe Lake Lodge. Nice place, very well run. Jim

Like all hotels in small towns in Alaska, it's not perfect. It's at the mercy of seasonal access or lack thereof to resources and adequate, properly trained staff. That being said, this is one of THE NICEST, MOST THOUGHTFUL modern hotels I've seen in Alaska. -plug ins for electric cars -rooms equipped for blind and deaf patrons -lights controlled by your keycard to save electric -very stylish, EXTREMELY comfortable rooms, with sanitary, comfy, water saving duvets -gorgeous, modern bathrooms with step-in showers which are much safer for patrons with physical empairments -a fairly large pool, which in Alaska is an ENORMOUS luxury -a 24 hour fitness room -a beautiful Alaskan themed breakfast room Only complaint was breakfast looked better than it tasted. I agree with Lardbelly... skip the sausage gravy and biscuits. The nice surprise was the apple Danish, which was clearly filled with homemade apple filling, not that gross canned shit. Absolutely wonderful! They also have coffee available 24 hours with 3 kinds of creamer. Alaskans are coffee FIENDS and this did not go unnoticed. Absolutely recommend, especially off-season- the price is significantly less.

The dining area is gorgeous, the food was amazing and as someone else noted, they have true (and unique) craft cocktails. The room has no hot water to the sink, warm water at the hottest setting in the shower (went in and out as-well), there was no AC so the room was super hot, the lighting was bad, the electricity shuts off when I turned a light switch off and the fridge didn't seem to be very cold but still way cooler than the room. The views from the window were pretty nice tho

We arrived early in the morning after driving the whole night from Fairbanks to Valdez. Though we…read morewere exhausted, Phoenix at the front desk made our check in process very streamlined and easy. I sent emails notifying about our late check in on the drive, and he answered all of them promptly. He had been at the front desk the whole night and was still extremely accommodating and helpful!! He definitely deserves recognition for being such a helpful employee. Besides Phoenix, the other hotel staff were friendly and hard working. I can't say that we had a fancy or luxurious stay at the keystone hotel, but I can say that we had a hot shower and warm bed waiting for us at the end of each adventurous day. The keystone hotel provides just this, which is perfect if you are spending your days outdoors. I don't think I needed anything fancier during our trip, as most of our time was spent outside of the hotel and adventuring. The breakfast is not very good, but luckily the coffee co is just a short walk away. Overall, we were just happy to have some basic longing during our stay. Thank you keystone hotel!

Yeah, it's alright…read more Best Western is probably "nicer" and similarly priced. If you have a lot of people (3-6), Mountain Sky offers a "Family Suite" that is a great option. We bunked 5 people for 3 nights for $505. $101 a person for 3 nights lodging ain't bad eh? The shower pressure was weak and water wasn't very hot. After a day of ice climbing in the cold, we really need these two things! If they could fix those, I'd gladly throw 'em another star. WiFi is free and while it's not fast (welcome to Alaska), it's not so slow as to make you want to commit acts of violence against yourself/others. We had breakfast at the attached (unnamed?) restaurant, it was pretty good. Definitely a good option if you need to get going quicker in the morning. I vastly prefer paying for hot food rather than getting a "free" continental breakfast of carbs and hard boiled eggs.

We paid 159 for one night to sleep for a few hours before we head to Whitehorse. The sheets were clean. The bed was comfortable I slept straight 8 hours without waking. The shower pressure was ok. You can still get a good clean with hot water. This hotel does not have an elevator so if you have tons of luggage, it is something to think about. For its class in the middle of nowhere Alaska and the price, it's good value. The front desk guy had a really good sense of humor too. Check in was easy. The room had a coffeemaker with an assortment of coffee and condiments, a microwave, and a refrigerator. The TV works.

Just ok. There isn't a lot to choose from in Valdez, other than the Best Western, a couple of…read moresmall B&Bs, and the Totem Inn (which has some pretty bad reviews). The bedrooms are in the basement of a house (you reach the bedrooms through the garage door). From the outside, the house looks ok (chalet style) but the rooms are strictly bare bones. The bedding and towels have seen better days, but I think both were clean. The bathroom seemed clean although, oddly enough, there's a refrigerator in it. One bad thing is that you don't get a room key, so you can't lock your bedroom during the day. The house isn't locked either (and the owner is gone at her day job during the day). The owner says no one really locks doors in Valdez, and while it might be a safe town overall, I felt uncomfortable about this. I mean, what if the people staying next door are sketchy? The breakfast was decent basics--juice, coffee, cereals, toast, fruits, etc. It's all self serve (I had to investigate upstairs to find out where breakfast was served), but ok stuff. Overall, it's an inexpensive place to stay, but with few amenities.
