While walking around in San Diego - I've never been to the Gaslamp District, so it was really fun to see what was there. It reminds me of a little bit of Abbot Kinney in Venice, CA and a bit of Downtown LA. To have the convention center next door and the PETCO Stadium right there, along with all of the bars and businesses around - it's was new, and yet quite familiar. So, while walking around, I noticed the Chuck Jones Gallery, and I immediately squee'd, and walked a little faster to see what kind of offerings this gallery had. DMTB and I discussed certain pieces that would look great in our home, and considering some of the prices of the art we were looking at, seemed do-able. Of course, in the back of the gallery, was a "life" sized statue of Yoda, and wasn't cheap. Something tells me if we had the money, it would be placed in our future home - prolly something in the foyer. *rolls eyes a bit* :) This is an excellent gallery to not only visit, but if you've got the monies, I would highly recommend picking up something (or 5). :) Oh, and we weren't "bothered" by the employees - we were able to browse around without a problem.

An animation gallery. Cute. The artist is the late Chuck Jones. His family own 3 galleries: San Diego, Orange County & Santa Fe. However, Warner Bros owns the copyrights. So no photographs allowed. Also, they are not original works. The reproduction process is called Giclee (ghee-clay) print, which is machine-made and of very high quality made with real paint. The artwork can easily be found online for purchase at ChuckJones.com I love Bugs Bunny playing the piano. The original painting is probably more than half a million dollars ($500,000.00+). A Giclee edition is just small a fraction of that original price tag. When I make a few movies.... remind me to purchase the real thing. Lol. Friendly and knowledgeable gallery curators.

My rating is more for the content. I agree, sucks that your not supposed to take pics, took a few before they told me so I'll post so you have an idea what's there. Walking around let me understand the scoop of his art. I thought it was just Looney Tunes, but then learned so much more. Was super cool to see the art, both illustrated n sculpted. Staff was okay. The guy didn't talk, the lady was very nice esp when she told me I couldn't take pics. Sorry, but since I'd already taken them, I can post them, right?

Great art work and the gentleman in the gallery was kind. The art work is pricey but it's art. If I were rich I would buy it. Overall the gallery is nice and clean. I definitely recommend it.

You know, I've worked at two different art museums, and I'm still not what you'd call an "art…read morebuff," ...I'm more of what's you'd call "a lot buff!" *rimshot* Thanks folks, I'll be here all week. Take my wife, please. Boy are my arms tired. I'm pretty sure Grand Central Art Center is my new fave part of downtown Santa Ana. It's part grad student studios/other exhibitions/sales galleries. And, let me tell you, this is one top notch art gallery. Coming from a non-art buff, that means a whole helluva lot, doesn't it? Well, it should - because if I, a person who thinks Damien Hirst is just complete bullshit, then it should mean something to you. I'd say 85% of the works in this gallery caught my attention - a much higher ratio that the rest of the galleries around here. They've got some cutting edge stuff, a lot of trendy stuff and a dash of traditional sorta stuff. The space is top notch too. I love the way the different galleries are setup. But wait...there's more. On this particular art walk night that I went, they had posters of their upcoming exhibitions. Don't you roll your eyes and say "so what." These posters were the best free posters I've ever seen. Printed on fine quality paper with awesome designs. Oh, and FREE. Duh. Thumbs Up: -Non boring art. -If you're lookin' to buy, there is art here you can actually afford. Well, not you, but you over there...you can afford it. -Next to just about everything cool in Downtown Santa Ana. -Free food and drink during art walk! Thumbs Down: -It may end up being my second favorite thing after I finally visit Lola Gaspar across the way.

During the OC Yelp Elite Event here in March, a fascinating piece of artwork caught my eye…read more And no, for those who were there, it was not the Hitler Head teapot. Yes, I agree. W.T.F. Anyways, the husband and I saw a really cool piece of art and inquired about it a few days after the event. The price was right but we had some difficulty actually buying it. Let's just say there was a lack of communication with the curator and it took both my husband and I multiple attempts to buy the piece...over a month later. Whatever. But I would like to add that Alyssa, the curatorial assistant, was very helpful once we were able to finally pick it up. The experience of buying the art was a headache, but I actually really like the gallery. They show very eclectic genres of art and a wide range of contemporary artists - from cult artist "Dark Vomit" (scary!) to Thomas Kinkade (even scarier!). But the stuff in between is really cool. Take an afternoon and go check it out. The Artists Village in Santa Ana is one of the cooler neighborhoods of OC and Grand Central Art Center is, by far, one of the better art centers.

Sometimes it's not just the framing! The word "Gallery"…read moredescribes a place for exhibiting and selling art but really it's so much more. For me it's the experience - the time spent looking, studying, and simply browsing a collection is worth gold to me. Chemers Gallery in Tustin is that place that offers that whole experience. Every time I go in there, which I admit isn't near often enough but probably more than some, I delight in "finds". I have a fairly decent collection of artwork and it's not confined to paintings. I've ceramics, sculptures, glasswork, pottery, photographs, and a few weird pieces of found object works as well. Quite a few of those pieces have come from this jewel of a gallery so close to home. The owner Karen, and her friendly staff have always allowed me the luxury to simply roam. I have to walk through numerous times to take everything in. I get distracted by one or two pieces and then turn around and find something else completely unexpected. And, it becomes mine. I love this place!! I am a retired healthcare designer and Chemers was the art consultant on a few of our firms healthcare projects. What I enjoyed was the chosen works were always different from the predictable works too often seen in healthcare spaces and, they always complimented the concepts of our interiors. I also love the shows and exhibitions they often host here. Often soliciting works from local artists, craftspeople, and even foodies, these "pop-up" shows are always good for gifts, wearables, and sometimes taste-ables! And if I'm lucky, I often walk away with a new piece! I always look forward to stopping in on these shows and could spend an hour or more perusing. Do yourself a favor and visit this gallery - oh, and of course, don't forget, they also do excellent framing!!
