This is long...but very informative of the way this place does business and treats customers. I asked the stylist Bailey for a trim and thinning. Well, the shears didn't just thin out my hair - literally chunks of my hair were cut off. I was horrified. Bailey proceeded to tell me it's supposed to look like that. I've been thinning my hair for as long as I can remember, and it has NEVER looked like that. She got her manager, Dana, for a "second opinion." Dana tried to fix it, still I never received any kind of sympathy or apology. I was told that these things "just happen sometimes." Dana was also very aggressive, never let me speak, and never offered any kind of compensation. Before leaving, I was made to believe it wasn't a big deal and that I was overreacting. About the chunks of hair missing from my head. :) Dana, the manager, said she "fixed it", but after getting home I went through my hair and saw there were even worse than I thought. I was pretty upset, so I went back today to see if something could be done. The receptionist, Vivian, was extremely sweet and understanding of my situation. Exceptional customer service from her! 5 stars for Vivian - give her a raise, somebody! Vivian, you rock!!!!! But since Dana dealt with me yesterday, she was called over. I heard the same remarks from Dana as the day before. I was overreacting. I asked the stylist next to me when Dana walked away what she thought...and she agreed with me. Sigh. Anyway, Dana told me "sometimes shears malfunction." I guess as a customer, I'm supposed to care about shears malfunctioning. When I explained to her I didn't in fact care about shears malfunctioning, she walked away from me and processed a refund - which is great! What's sad is this whole situation could have easily been taken care of and I may have even gone back in the future, but the customer service I received from Dana was so terrible. She was so rude and made me feel like it was my fault I am missing chunks of hair. Unfortunately, I'll no longer be going here or recommending it to my friends after this experience. I received a service from Bailey at the University location and was highly disappointed with how my hair turned out. I showed her a specific picture on how I wanted my highlights which was a Carmel color, she told me she could do it, but it turned out blonde which is not what I wanted. My hair is also terribly damaged now and is very dry and brittle. I called multiple times to speak with a manager and did not get an answer. I was finally able to get in touch with Dana and she was not helpful at all. She refused to give me any type of refund and she also wanted to set another appointment with the same girl who messed up my hair the first time. I will never return to chrome for any kind of services, I have 3 pictures the first one is the inspiration picture, the second one is my hair straighten and then it's my hair 2 weeks after. I was referred to Kara by a friend and I was not disappointed! From the minute I walked in to the second I left, I was taken care of. When I arrived, I was offered a complimentary drink. Kara came out to greet me within a minute of arriving. I went in with a picture of a cut that I wanted and Kara was great at asking me questions, looking and touching my hair and really knew what I wanted before she ever put scissors to my hair. Mr Eddie cut my hair, then I return to have him color my hair. There are no words to express how happy I am with the job that Mr. Eddie did. Both occasions he was kind and courteous. But what really has me over the moon is I felt so pretty when I left. I left looking better than when I came in. The cut was perfect, it was exactly what I needed. The color was on point! I felt glamorous. My husband who never comments on my hair( other to let me know that I've cut it maybe too short) this time he was all complements. This place has a new and hip feel to it. And they usually have some kind of promotion going on so always ask. Fir example, the first time I went they were having a special on a deep moisture mask treatment for your tresses so I got one and it worked wonders. Charolette, the owner, is a very charismatic lady who obviously knows how to run a successful business. My hairdresser isRachel is an awesome hairdresser! When I got home after she cut and styled my hair, my brother (who never notices anything) took one look at me and actually commented that it looked really nice! My preferred hair cut salon in BCS closed about a year ago so I had to find a new location. I tried Chrome since it had won the Best of the Brazos award. I enjoyed the experience and thought the people and the salon were clean and trendy. The price is about the same as other salons for a woman's haircut- you'll pay ~$30-$35 total with tip at the end of the day. My only complaint was that all three times I had my hair cut their I asked for someone who could cut curly hair. Each time I had a different person and each time the cut was more layered for wearing it straight (you can tell in the way they did my bangs). I was disappointed with this since I'd paid about $30 for a good cut and each time ended up further trimming my own hair upon getting home. While I know it's very hard in general to find someone who can cut curly hair decently, I had higher hopes for Chrome, thus why I went 3 times. I do think they do a nice job in general and I know others who rave about their salon. I didn't necessarily have a bad experience, but had merely expected more for the cost and my request for a nice "curly" haircut. read more

I loved my stylist (Heather Joseph), and have been going to her for years and years. She does a fabulous job but is completely unreliable. I've had six or more appointments cancelled with very little notice; sometimes less than three hours. I've been driving from Houston for two years just to get my hair cut by her and I'm no longer doing that. I am very pleased with my experience at Chrome. I am relatively new to the College Station area and needed a place to get my hair cut. I am one of those people that procrastinates making appointments, so I called to see if there was an opening the same day and sure enough there was. Pamela cut my hair exactly the way I asked her to. I also got a deep conditioning treatment and it left my hair feeling like silk. At the end of my appointment, they asked if I'd like to schedule my next appointment that day. Love Chrome! Can't say enough nice things about Britanie! She cuts my mom's hair, my sister's hair, and my hair perfectly, and we all have different hair texture/styles. (yes, I promise we are related). She works magic with my little mouse hair and turns it into princess hair every time! I have very fine hair, and it is very difficult for me to find a stylist that understands how to make the most of it! Britanie always listens very carefully to what I am looking for and does a fantastic job delivering every time. I also love that she walks me through her process, gives me tips on how to style my hair, and recommendations for products that actually work with my hair type. I have tape in hair extensions and have been to multiple salons to get them taken out and put back in to move them up due to natural growth. My experience at Chrome has been the best by far!! It has been a painful process at other places when getting the old tape out of my hair. Dana did it in half the time and it was completely pain free. They know what they're doing. read more

I went there for a hair dye. The lady who saw me was relentlessly trying to sell me some hair pomade that I repeatedly said I didn't need. The manager was nowhere to be found and the receptionist was adamant about booking my next appointment. I walked out of there before she even finished drying my hair. DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR COLORED HERE. Kade totally ruined my hair. I am originally light blonde, and wanted a darker honey blonde. Left with DARK BROWN hair that was splotchy and striped and just looked completely awful. It was nowhere near what I asked for, even after showing pictures. I went in to the salon with a ver specific request. I was fixing what damage the last hair dresser did. I asked to be a solid blonde, showed pictures and thought the hair dresser understood. She did a balayage on me because I didn't want a streaky chunky look. It is still not as blonde as i wanted, nor is it the right blonde. I told her I wanted a pretty white blonde. My hair is an ugly orange blonde, not sure why she put a glaze on it. She told me I was going to have to come back to get it as blonde as I want? So I have to pay twice for you to do your job right? Chrome was recommended by a coworker. I made an appt to get my hair trimmed and colored. They could get me in that evening! Unfortunately, despite an appt, I sat for 25 mins with no explanation as to why my stylist still wasn't ready. Other guests waiting were offered a beverage, but the receptionist somehow overlooked me each time. I walked out after 25 mins. My time is valuable. 2 hours later, I got a call from the stylist offering a free hair cut because they overbooked her. ? Overbooked? A quick call to let me know she'd have to reschedule would have kept me as a client. There's plenty of other options in the Bryan / College Station area. read more

Horrible experience. I have naturally long blonde hair. I asked for a trim and a new wintery lowlight/highlight naturally textured look. My stylist showed me where she would "trim" (about 2 inches). However, the trim ended up being more than 5 inches off once I measured my new length at home, which is way more than I wanted. My long hair is now gone. The trim was done with a men's electric razor while my hair was DRY. Next, the color. I wanted a natural baylayage look, my stylist told me to do color gel to get the look I wanted. After waiting 45 minutes with the color soaking into my hair, the result ended up with a monotone light blonde color. My hair is now all one color with no texture (lighter and darker colors) which is not what I wanted. Please do not come here, or if you do, make sure the stylist knows what she is doing. The stylist did not seem professional and did not seem to take my opinion into consideration. She sang, talked about her boyfriends, and then told me that my hair didn't turn out how she planned once she was finished. It was not a confidence booster. I can't wait to fix what my stylist did to my hair. It took me 3 years to grow out my hair long and healthy, and now I have to practically start over. Chrome may have some stylists that are skilled and professional but this was not the case in my situation. Please research in depth reviews about who will be messing with your hair before you make an appointment. read more

I have gone to Chrome on both locations for 2 years and they have more or less done a good job. I usually get a men's haircut in the price range of 16-25 dollars. My usual hair stylist was not available, so I asked for a different stylist. I was surprised to find that my haircut was $36 dollars, since I have never gotten a similar price in the 2 years I have been there. I was curious to know why there was such a big difference, so I called back to ask why this was the case. They explained that I normally have a level 1 stylist who charges $16, but the new stylist I got was a level 4 stylist, who charges $35. In the two years I have been there, this is the first time I have heard of this. I am not upset about the price so much as the fact that they were aware that my new stylist was more than twice the price of my normal stylist and I was not made aware of this. I think it would have been better to explain this beforehand to prevent situations like this. I was not happy about this, but why was I charged $36 rather than $35 as she stated before? Then she said, the stylist's price is $36. I was not the only person who heard her say $35 when I was on the phone. What I wanted to know was whether this stylist's pricing was consistent or not, so this did not help answer my question. You may have a different experience with Chrome, but I didn't like how this was handled and will not be coming back. read more

I had heard good reviews about this place, and I didn't have a go-to salon in College Station, so I decided to give it a try. I called ahead to about about pricing for a trim and was told it would be about $45 for wash/cut/style. I booked the appointment for later that day. The guy who cut my hair was extremely rude and barely acknowledged me the entire time. He blow dried my hair and didn't style it before telling me I was done and could pay at the front. When I went to pay, I was charged $65 because my stylist was "higher level" which had not been explained to me previously. If the poor service wasn't bad enough, I found that my stylist had failed to remove most of my dead ends, which was the only thing I went in there for and had clearly communicated. My stylist, Danielle; stated she didn't take much length off, she just thinned it out. Thinned it right down to scalp she did. For the love of hair do not get a simple men's cut from Stephanie. I was initially getting my hair done by Brandi at the university location. I was very pleased after the first couple of cuts. When I went in to get my third cut they told me she didn't work there anymore and had moved away. Not only did they not call me to tell me this but they simply pushed me off onto someone else. That someone was Stephanie. I told her I wasn't comfortable with her cutting my hair, not because I didn't like her, but because she wasn't as high of a level stylist as I wanted. She then put me on the spot in front of other customers and pressured me into letting her cut my hair, which I did. The haircut was just ok. I scheduled another cut with her because I thought maybe she'd do a better job. Boy was I wrong. I'm going to have to wear a hat to work for a couple months until this disaster grows out. I've been going to the Crome location on William Fitch for a few haircuts. I went a few days ago for another cut and to get my eyebrows waxed. The stylist was great for the cut but the cut only. She waxed my brows and took off skin in between my brows and on one of my eyelids. It was really red and hurt that day. I thought it was just sore from the wax. The next day I noticed a big piece of skin missing from an eyelid and a smaller piece between the brows. It is very sore and tender to the touch. I called the salon. Their response was that waxing often takes off dry skin (my skin is not dry). I explained my concerned about scarring. She told me there was nothing she could do and it probably won't scar. No apologies. It seemed like it was more of an inconvenience that I called. Do not go to Chrome unless it is just for a cut. Be very precise which stylists you want and they book that one only. read more

chrome is amazing!! I went and saw Erin after another salon did a balyage for me that I absolutely hated. The other stylist didn't listen to me at all and I came out blonde when I wanted a dark caramel color. Erin listened to what I wanted in detail and really cared that I liked my hair.
