I broke my tooth and my dentist advised me that it required an emergency root canal. Nancy (Dr…read more Cohen's office manager) took my call and she was argumentative and insisted I provide her with detailed medical information that should be shared by speaking with or by faxing my dentist. When I asked for her name she retorted that she was the only person who takes calls. (I didn't learn her name until I received a letter from Dr. Cohen.) Nancy also refused to book my appointment until I personally provided her with "the number" of the tooth in need of root canal. I let her know my concerns, that I am not a medical professional and that she should call or fax my dentist but she said she did not want to. After four phone calls Nancy finally booked my appointment. I was in a lot of pain and speaking was difficult. My greeting in the office was "We just got back from lunch so it's gonna be a while." I filled out the forms and listed my physical disabilities as they affect my treatment needs. Nancy asked me questions regarding my issues. When I answered she stated in a very nasty tone "Just wondering." I was disgusted. I provided films from my dentist. I explained to Nancy that I needed the films back after my visit. She yelled out behind her (to the wall) that all of my x-rays were to be duplicated during my appointment because I wanted to keep my films. So right away I called my dentist asking for additional copies of my films to be made ready for pickup that evening. Lisa brought me into the exam room. (She never introduced herself. I learned her name during a phone call the following day.) I asked her for a small cushion for my head. I require extra support due to a spinal fusion and pinched nerve. She said "The chair has a cushion." I warned her that without a supportive device I would have to physically hold my spine with my own hands. But Lisa just wandered off with no intention of meeting my needs. I advised Lisa that I overheard Nancy's instructions to retake all of my x-rays and that I did not give my permission for that. I let Lisa know that it is unsafe to have so many x-rays taken and it was unnecessary since I just had them done at my dentist's. I explained how I disagreed with Nancy's actions because it's wrong to make a decision for me. I deserve to be included in any decisions that affect my health. I then felt a hand dig into my right arm near my shoulder. The fingers dug into my flesh and it was shocking. It was Nancy the office manager from the reception window. She continued to grasp me as she squeezed between Lisa and I, then leaned down into my face. I was trapped in the dentist's chair. I yelled "Let go of me!" and Lisa watched wide eyed as Nancy began screaming at me in a bizarre rage. I continued to demand that she let go and not touch me. Lisa did nothing to help me. Nancy left the room. Then Lisa left as well, so I assumed Nancy was in the process of being fired. I was in terrible pain due to my broken tooth. It had an exposed nerve. When the doctor finally came in he acted oddly so I assumed he was embarrassed by his office manager's violent rage. I really needed the root canal so I stayed to have the surgery. I told the doctor that I needed a small pillow to support my spine. Lisa again said that the dentist's chair had a pillow build into it. Her ignorance and inability to understand my needs was simply unbelievable. He placed a phone book under the build in cushion so that he could proceed with my root canal. I shook during the entire procedure. When the doctor was finished Lisa let me know that Nancy was gone and I was all set to go home. I thought she had been fired and that Lisa and the doctor were simply too shocked to say anything to me regarding the assault. The next day I could tell I had tissue damage where Nancy grabbed me. I couldn't do the dishes and the pain was pretty bad. On the phone I asked Lisa why she and the doctor didn't do anything when it happened. I told her I was shocked and didn't even know what to think or say. She agreed and stated she felt the same way. I asked again why nothing was done at the time of the assault. Lisa then said she didn't see Nancy grab me. I reminded her that she was right there with us. I asked Lisa if she heard me yelling for Nancy to let go of me. Lisa said YES. She said she would tell the doctor. I received a letter of apology.

Dr. Pellegrino may be one of the only quality dentists in the Lehigh Valley. I have been a patient…read moreof Dr. Pellegrino for over 15 years (since he first started to practice in the Lehigh Valley). First, I will say I agree with what other reviewers say - its rough to get an appointment, especially if you travel for work like I do. Let me tell you, it is worth the wait. A busy dentist is one with lots of returning patients! I recently went to another dentist for a procedure because I couldn't get appointment. Huge HUGE mistake. I figured "how bad can it be"? Well..... it was horrible. I now have a crown from another dentist that is problematic a full year later. Intense pain from another dentists work like I have never experienced in all my years of going to Dr. Pellegrino, but I am back to get it fixed! (Now much more wiser). In the years I have been with Dr. Pellegrino I just forgot how good he and his staff were because everything was so effortless, and easy, and proper. Suffice to say I just took it for granted in general. I have had a crown, fillings, replacement of old fillings from other dentists, countless cleanings, whitening, and other dental procedures. All went well. I came in, had the procedures done, and walked out with no issue. This has been my experience for years. I have recommended Dr. Pellegrino too all my friends or acquaintances, and will continue to recommend him. Years of quality work with zero pain - and many more to come. You can be assured you will have the same experience here; which I am pretty sure is standout from most other Lehigh Valley dentists.
