Okay, before we start, I have to amit that, next to Altona/Ottensen, Grindel is one of my absolute favourite areas in Hamburg. Keep that in mind as I may be a bit skewed towards rating this one favourably.
This is one of the smaller markets that's mostly frequented by people from the neighbourhood. It's right by the university, so you'll see plenty of students and young families attending. The market itself isn't too big and only offers the essentials (focus here is on mulled wine, food and a large carousel for the kids) but it's great if you're travelling with children or happen to be in the area.
You won't find the typical arts and crafts stalls at this market, it's really just food, drink and entertainment. Usually it doesn't get too crowded, so you can relax and enjoy!
As it's right in the university district, you'll usually find vegetarian and vegan food options as well. read more
