Extremely friendly Bible teaching church. Sunday Type service on Thursday evening after a free meal. This is extremely well accepted by people who work on weekends or are just busy. read more

I have visited this church twice. My wife and I love the fact that it is a Bible believing, Bible teaching church. We found it very welcoming, and such loving church family. I thought with it so large we would be left lost and leaving, however they greeted us and showed us around. It was a very warm loving experience. We look forward to returning. read more

Hard to give a poor review to a house of God. So I will give a poor review for the congregation and clergy and leave God out of it. I gave one star because at the church when you walk in the door there's a coffee shop. I took away one star because they had a coffee shop at the church. I love church, it is where the birth of written music began and has a stellar reputation of producing some of the finest classical and modern worship music in all of history. So I ALWAYS take away a star when the music is recognizable to the congregation only, and nothing but lyrics are splashed on a screen with background pics of clouds and sunbeams. By the time you learn the melody from listening and you're ready to sing praises the song ends. I'd like to say the people were friendly but I can't. I attended service with a member of their large group choir so I at least expected to have someone say hello to her, and welcome me. Didn't happen. I take a star away for that but I give one back because my companion invited me. So not everyone ignored me. Just felt unwelcomed. This place is obviously not my style of prefered worship. However, I've been to similar churches that were at least more welcoming. Go check it out. You might be moved by the spirit and find a community to worship with. I will always encourage that. The name has changed to Christ Community Chapel. We recently stopped going here. The people were nice enough, but the pastor (Joe Coffey) is something else. Almost every sermon finds him "humbly" praising himself in one personal story or another. We let it go for a while, at first, but as time went on, we began to be more and more bothered by what seems to be a constant and recurring theme with him - his self percieved righteousness (actually, his huge ego). This doesn't sit well with me. I've never seen such lack of humility in a pastor. Something's not right with that. How can I trust him as my pastor for spiritual guidance and discernment, when I see him NOT exhibiting even a basic of good discernment in this area in his own life? Do all of us sin? Yes! Are all of us flawed? YES! But if a person is going to strive to be a spiritual leader, they must be held to a higher standard. And the Bible says that God will hold spiritual leaders to a higher standard. As such, I truly believe that a man of God should be humble, not proud. Not only this, but I strongly disagree with his frequent promoting of his own agendas and/or opinions. It's not that he is being too fundamentalist, it's that he seems to mix his own personal theories/slant in with what is supposed to be a religious sermon. He makes a point to tell us that "this word means this in the original language" and "that word means that", but then after all of his explanations he weaves together an idea that goes like this ...... A + B = C, B + C = D, so ...... A therefore equals D (with D usually being his personal insight or opinion). No it doesn't. Thanks but no thanks for that fuzzy math. And just because he is a pastor, he does not have a free pass to be unquestioned about this nonsense. We people in the pews are not stupid, and we DO search our Bibles and compare what he says to what God says, and we are not confused or distracted by his title. His opinion does not matter to me if it creates an angle in the Word that is not there. It's as if he takes his own personal ideas and tries to find scripture to wrap around them, even if the scripture is out of context. I definitely do not like that. He needs to understand that it's not all about HIM ...... It's about the people he is placed in charge of shepherding. It's about the PEOPLE IN HIS CARE! He needs to start putting these people first. And I do not see him doing that. Every Sunday it seems is a sermon where he looks good and sounds good, everything very bright, shiny and churchy, but when you dig deeper and really look closely, it's just an appearance. Where is the genuine article? So many questions arise, that point to one answer ...... it all looks pious enough on the surface, but beneath it all, it's just another sunday of the "Joe Coffey Show". I'm just tired of it. It makes me very, very sad. :( It's a huge church, so obviously there are people there who like it and like him and like his messages. And that is fully their right. But I am not one of them. read more

Discovered this church on line from Washington State over two years ago and after having listened to a message from pastor Joe Coffey decided to visit when we arrived in Ohio. Being a first time visitor to such a large church I anticipated feeling lost in the crowd but found instead the warmest welcome and have been so at home ever since. No one is perfect . Not you Not Joe, Not me. Do you think this kind of bashing of a church is doing you or anyone else any good today? This is an excellent church that is very gospel-oriented and very people-oriented. A statement by another reviewer regarding Joe Coffey that "Almost every sermon finds him 'humbly' praising himself in one personal story or another" is patently FALSE!!!! I've been at CCC for 20 years. Joe JOKES occasionally about himself -- UNAMBIGUOUSLY jokes -- but often humbly uses some of his own weaknesses and screw-ups to illustrate sermon points. He is an extremely effective communicator, faithful to the gospel, and loved by his congregation. read more

I was on staff as the director of music at my previous church and that season was coming to an end. As I prayed about where I would turn to for church, my wife visited CCC-Hudson. For a number of weeks afterward I struggled with whether I should change or not. I asked the Lord for a "lightning bolt" to let me know if this is where I should move my membership... Literally two hours later, I was sitting at my computer when we got a knock at our front door. Neither my wife or I were expecting company... it was about 530 pm. My wife went to the door as I continued with my computer work. I heard a very brief conversation ensue on my front deck but couldn't make out the words or discern a familiar voice. My wife walked in and shut the door and I saw that she was holding something. I said - who was that? She said - Youre not going to believe this (as I had just told her two hours previously that I was praying for my lightning bolt)... That was someone from Christ Community Chapel... They didn't want to stay but they had seen on the guest list that we had stopped by a number of weeks ago and they had baked us an orange/cranberry bread and said they really felt that this was the church for us and they hoped that we would come back and join them soon. SHOCKER!!!! My lightning bolt!!! Shortly after we stated attending regularly. I found it to be extremely warm and welcoming despite it's large size. I was accepted right into the music ministry and now play the band. I lead a table at the Mens' Frat Friday morning Bible study... And wow!!! A coffee shop and book store in the atrium. AWESOME!!! Pastor Joe Coffey is phenomenal. Anyone who says that he is not humble hasn't the slightest clue what they are talking about. Clearly they've never spent more than a few minutes with him. He is humble... he is loving... he is funny... and most of all he is knowledgeable of the scriptures, with a doctorate in theology and he brings them alive and makes them VERY life applicable. He is organized and has a plan for the church. I'll tell ya what... there is NO more Christ centered, mission working, loving church than Christ Community Chapel. Great place to worship, learn, and give back to the Christian family/community. Five Stars all the way!!! read more
