Please do your due diligence above and beyond when signing your child up for their FULL CIRCLE…read moreprogram. Ask what background experience the teacher has with special needs children! Ask straight out , if my child has a behavior can you accommodate them? They say it is place for inclusion and enriching summer experiences, but that is only if your child does not have any behavioral issues. Their words, that they understand that summer can present unique challenges in finding a safe and enjoyable program. They should make it known in their literature that they can not support the needs of children who may have behaviors while in the program. It gives families false hope that there is actually a place that "ALL CHILDREN" with special needs have a safe space and a chance to grow and have fun. I understand if they can not adequately provide the service, but then don't advertise INCLUSION AND ACCEPTANCE, when you do not have the support to actually carry through with you written promise. It can be soul crushing to families that think they found a nurturing environment to only once again be turned away and excluded. Which is the opposite of INCLUSION. Be up front with families in your handbook, quit giving false hope. Even worse the effect it has on the child that doesn't have the ability to comprehend being dismissed. I remember the night before my first On-Ramp class I was so nervous. I forced my brother to drive to the gym with me that night so I knew where to go. Well I was too afraid to even get out of my car to introduce myself . Anyways, fast forward a month and I'm doing my first official WOD for time. Eventually everyone finished except for me.. and I definitely started doubting myself. But they all gathered around and cheered me on until I was finished. You really can't top a culture like that! Since joining CFGB, I've not only become physically stronger but I've attained a certain mental toughness which has helped me beyond the walls of the gym. I can confidently accredit this to the coaches' tough love and constant drive to make every single member that walks through the doors of CFGB an overall better version of themselves. I've been to other gyms and I can whole heartedly say that nothing else compares to CFGB. This is definitely the place you want to be!
