One month before my wedding, I had a hair and makeup trial at another salon in Breck. It was a nightmare:(. My poor mother weighed our options as I was having a major meltdown. She decided to reach out to Weemala after receiving recommendations from a local wedding planner and a planner associated with Vail Resorts. The owner Jessica was kind and reassuring and confident they could help us out of this crisis. They miraculously were available to do our hair and makeup for my Friday wedding and also fit us in for a trial the day before the wedding. After having such a bad prior experience, I was very nervous. But, Jess reassured us that she only uses people with 10+ years experience on wedding clientele's hair and she herself will be doing our makeup. After Ashley met me at the door of the salon upon our arriving late and hurried (as we had a lot on the agenda for the day before the wedding), I knew I was going to be in good hands. She was cool and confident and made my hair look even better than the picture I had shown her (the same exact one I had shown the previous salon). I felt a HUGE weight off my back disappear. I literally almost cried just from relief and gratitude. Ashley then did the groom's hair trial (he has longer curly hair that can sometimes be difficult to manage). I had a small concern that I couldn't quite put my finger on. She figured out what was bothering before I even could, and then she immediately fixed it. On the actual wedding day, it looked even better than it had the day before. She did my three bridesmaids' hair and our moms' hair - all of which looked amazing. I seriously cannot thank Ashley enough!!! :) Jess is a truly gifted makeup artist. She knows what foundations will look better when photographed, she listened to everything I said, and she trusted her judgment enough to know what will look great on me. And, it did! On the actual wedding day, she did individual fake eye lashes that looked so beautiful and real, I forgot I had them on the next day. My bridesmaids and our moms' makeup looked equally beautiful. It was perfect! It was beautiful and special but, we still looked like ourselves - only enhanced versions of ourselves! Jess was so calm and eager to help us, I will be forever grateful to her and Ashley both. A bonus is that both Jess and Ashley came to our hotel the morning of the wedding. I didn't think it would have be problematic for us to go to a salon, but it actually was way more relaxing and much less stressful having them come to us. It made things run so much smoother. Thank you Weemala for saving us, and thank you for helping to make our wedding wonderful! We both felt awesome, and you were a hugely significant part of that! awesome, talented, stylists at this hip, rustic salon. Irlande and crew are so good a color, cutting and styling I always do what they suggest for my thin curly hair! I'm always in awe of the other folks getting styled while I'm there! They always look so incredible. I get a Brazilian Blow out to straighten my curly frizzy hair on a quarterly bases. My hair has never looked and felt so good for up to 4 months! I've gotten many Brazilian Blow outs in Denver and I been over charged and very disappointed with the results. Irlande does an amazing job that I'm so spoiled I won't go any where else ever again! Plus her coloring skills are off the charts! Love it there! I love going to the chopping block!!!! Everyone who works there is so friendly and I love the atmosphere! But better than that, my haircut I just got is awesome!!!!! When I wasn't completely satisfied with my haircut (due to me having trouble communicating what I wanted), I called the shop to ask if I could come back in. They told me to come back in and my stylist figured out what I was looking for. I absolutely love my haircut and they didn't charge me for the 2nd visit to fix my cut...which I was completely expecting to pay. best salon experience ever. i have wavy / curly sometimes hair that gets cut so many different ways and it's never been just right. melanie let me gab on for many minutes about what i like and dislike. she was such an intentional listener and explained what was possible and what maybe wasn't given my hair type. i could tell she really cares about getting it just right. she shared ideas and eventually we landed on that i wanted and then voila - it manifested. i love my cut and loved my stylist melanie. felt very comfortable, very relaxed, very taken care of and like she truly listened to me. so happy. read more

Melanie is incredibly skilled and more importantly, she listens. She understands that "low-maintenance" isn't a personality flaw, it's a lifestyle. Her cuts and colors actually grow out in a way that doesn't betray you months later. Her chair is also one of the few places where I can fully check out without guilt. No forced small talk. No oversharing. Just quiet competence and great hair. During one of the more chaotic stretches of my adult life, that's been a rare gift. **For those feeling a bit more social, the vibe is fun, inclusive and inviting. They just meet you where you are! read more

I made an appointment at The Chopping Block after having a friend of mine recommend Melanie. It was a wonderful experience! Melanie recognized that I had a natural curl in my hair, and gave me education on how to style and take care of my hair to accentuate my curls. Most every salon I've been to in the past has always just flat ironed my hair with out considering it's natural texture at all. I've had my haircut for a few weeks now, and I have been styling it according to her tips, and I am so happy I decided to give her and The Chopping Block a try! read more
