The body work I had done was fine, but the paint job was unacceptable. There was a very visible dried drip in the paint, and my entire car was covered in overspray! You could feel it on the entire surface of the car when skimming your fingers over the surface. Either they didn't cover the car adequately when spray painting it or the exhaust from their paint booth is getting on the cars where they are parked. Never again. read more

My husband was told to come here from a co-worker and was told they will give him a good deal. We needed our 2007 yellow Cobalt repainted because someone had spilled some chemical on the top and side of his car that ate away at the paint job. The car also had sun damage so my husband wanted a new paint job for the car. We talked with the owner and he beat the other estimates so we went with them. He also said for the deal he was giving us it would be under the table so he does not have to pay taxes on the job. This of course should have made us run because if they are willing to screw someone else they will also screw you, I see this in hindsight. They had the car 4 days. and we came and picked it up. From what we saw it looked ok. I should have paid closer attention and run my hand over the paint job before we left but didn't. This is my husbands car so I never washed it or payed much attention to it. Well it is now about 6 months later and my husband got stationed in Korea and I am taking care of the car and paying more attention. I had to take the car to the Chevy dealership for a recall and have it fixed. The Chevy dealership was nice enough to give the car a wash after the repair. We live on a dirt road so it stays dusty. When I got the car back I could not believe how sun damaged the hood, back, and 1/2 the top was. I could see that Chon's only painted the side and 1/2 the top where the chemical damage was and probably waxed and shined the rest to blend in. I could not believe they would do this to us. I told my husband on the phone what I saw and he said he noticed it a couple months ago but he is the type of person to say "oh well" but I am not. We work hard for our money and for Chon's to scam us out of over a thousand dollars makes my blood boil. I will be reporting them to BBB and and also the tax man. If you work hard for your money and expect a business to have morals and integrity then STAY CLEAR OF CHONS because they have none of the above. read more

Recently, my 12-cylinder 7-series BWM was repaired at Chon's through a Progressive Insurance claim. A small hole and crack in the lower valance of the front bumper was completed. In a word, the quality of the repair was awful. To be clear, I am a laid back guy. But, I have no doubt that someone with a modicum of skills could and would have done a better job in their backyard. Frankly, I wish I had never had the car repaired. The nickel-sized hole and crack were certainly less obtrusive or noticeable than the horrendous repair. The existing, damaged factory part could easily have been repaired, but the "professionals" at Chon's elected to replace them with substandard aftermarket parts. I have little doubt doing so allows for a greater profit margin at the expense of installing lower quality parts. The aftermarket bumper does not line up well and has mold seam marks all over it that the OEM bumper did not have. Chon's could have done 20 minutes of body work on the new bumper to blend the seam marks, but didn't. Further, the paint work on it is poor - it is inconsistent and there are scratches in the brand new paint which were put on it during installation of the bumper following the painting process. Paint is already failing just months after the repair. Speaking to the poor quality of workmanship, two issues readily stand out. First, in removing the original bumper, they broke the mounting mechanism for one of the factory fog lights. It is extremely easy to remove the fog lights from these cars, but rather than taking the time to figure it out, they forced the light out, subsequently breaking the bracket. Rather than owning up to it and replacing the part they broke (just $9 from the dealership), they cut a piece off of a splash guard under the car and screwed that piece to the back of the bumper to act as a support for the fog light. Apart from the ridiculous, cobbled-together nature of the repair, in order to subsequently remove the fog light, the car had to be jacked up, the splash guard removed, the screw/splash guard "repair" taken off, and then the fog light could be pulled out. Prior to that, all it took was a pen, screw driver, etc. to push on a release lever and the fog light would pop out. The bulb could be changed in less time than it takes to get a jack out and under the car. The poor workmanship notwithstanding, this was a display of a lack of character by the repair tech. This was discovered since the car went into the shop with all lights working, having been recently replaced with high-quality OSRAM bulbs) and came out with that bulb burned out. Had they checked it after the installation, who knows how long it would have been before the issue was discovered. Second, they were contracted to do additional painting around the bumper to take care of rock chips and flaking paint on the front of the vehicle. To say there was no prep work done whatsoever to the additional areas they were to paint would be an understatement. They painted directly over top of flaking, pitted paint. They didn't even take the time to clean off insect remains or scrape down the lifted paint! This was not a cheap repair, costing into four figures. The car frequently gets compliments and inquiries, and I regularly tell folks where the paint and body work was done. And, now I am positing it for as many others to see as possible. For any manner of body or paint repair, I would look elsewhere not just for value for your dollar, but for a company with character and integrity. read more

First off let me say this review is an honest experience I had at this shop nothing has been exaggerated. I dropped off my brand new 30k car for a simple repair to the hood the job was done on time and I received the call to come pick it up .As I walked towards my car I could see that something wasnt right. I spoke to the owner and he agreed that the repair was not satisfactory and apologized but in the same sentence mentioned that the insurance company would not let him replace the hood (and I believe this is true because all insurance companies are out for themselves not their paying customers) and that is why the job looks so bad but look how nice the paint job is and how nicely the paint was blended and from a distance it did look ok . After a lenghtly conversation with my insurance company (PRO**RESSIVE) I needed to pick up my car and return 4 days later to have a 2nd estimator look at the unsatisfactory body work issue. So we drive the car home and park it in our garage to take another look at the horrible body work and i was shocked to see all the problems with the paint YES THE SAME PAINT JOB THE SHOP OWNER HAD BRAGGED ABOUT THE DAY BEFORE I am going to list the problem areas and I will not stretch the truth as hard as it might be to believe this this is an honest review that I hope will help both this body shop and the crooked insurance companies realize that this system of having only one body shop on THEIR NETWORK is unfair to the consumer. O.K. are you ready this is a partial list of the problems i now have with my new car DROPPED OFF A CAR FOR A HOOD REPAIR NEW 30K CAR 5000 MILES (MINT CONDITION EXCEPT DENTED HOOD) BROUGHT HOME A "PROFESSIONALLY FINISHED" CAR THAT NOW HAS DAMAGE NOT ONLY TO THE HOOD BUT OVERSPRAY ON DRIVERS DOOR APPX 8" AREA (VERY OBVIOUS ), OVERSPRAY ON PASSENGER DOOR APPX 2" LONG 3" WIDE (VERY OBVIOUS), SCRATCH ON DRIVERS DOOR,TWO DEEP GOUGES THAT THEY TRIED TO HIDE WITH A PAINTBRUSH?? ORIGINAL PAINT STAINED ON DRIVERS DOOR, APPX 12" LONG PAINT RUN ON TOP OF DRIVERS FENDER WHICH IS SO THICK YOU CAN SEE AND FEEL IT, ADDITIONAL PAINT RUN ON BOTTOM FRONT DRIVERS FENDER, PAINT RUN ON TOP FRONT FENDER, PAINT DAMAGE (HUGE 2" LONG GOUGE AND DIMPLE IN PAINT) ON OUTSIDE FENDER AT WHEEL WELL, DEBRIS IN PAINT ON BOTH FENDERS, 15 PIECES YES THATS RIGHT I SAID AT LEAST 15 OF DEBRIS ON HOOD, OVERSPRAY ON PASSENGER FENDER, AND OF COURSE THE TERRIBLE HOOD. I know this is hard to believe that any professional company would even consider this acceptable but they called me and told me to come pick up my finished car . So to sum it up i took my car in for a damaged hood and now I have to have both fenders and both doors and the hood repainted on a brand new car. I hope this is viewed by the owner so he will possibly (maybe) hopefully inspect his work that his employees perform on his customers cars or at least use a paint booth to paint the cars in instead of a garage?? he seems like a nice enough of a guy but he cant do this kind of sloppy work at his customers expense it is absolutly unacceptable and it is a crime to ruin a perfectly nice factory paintjob on a car when all that was needed was a hood repair So now I am forced to file a claim against the body shop for body damage I will say that again so any potential NEW CUSTOMER will understand I HAVE TO FILE A CLAIM AGAINST CHONS BODY SHOP FOR DAMAGING MY CAR WHILE IT WAS IN FOR BODY WORK . If this is something you want to deal with go ahead and take your car here but if you want a real professional job done DO NOT TAKE IT TO CHONS my next stop will be a shop where they actually have the talent needed to do the job right. (UPDATE FROM PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE) 5 21-2013 The estimator from Progressive looked at my car and says they are sorry their DISCOUNT REPAIR SHOP ruined my new car paint job but dont worry they will make it right ?? all I have to do is take it to Tucson to have it repaired again and of course rent a car to get back to Sierra vista (two trips two vacation days from work) and hopefully it will be done correctly .
