The following is the letter I have sent the shop to tell them exactly how their fitting went…read more.. AVOID AT ALL COSTS --- I am writing to you regarding your supply and fitting of Furlwood Value 3 Strip 14mm Engineered Oak A301 Lacquered with underlay which was fitted in early January 2011. As you may be aware, we have had many problems with this job, from start to finish. The end product we are left with is a substandard job which has required multiple attempts at a fix and is still in a bouncing, warped condition. The original advice we received from Lee was to have engineered boards fitted. This, it turns out, was the first mistake of many. From the condition of our fitted wood floor, we should at least have had solid wood boards fitted, or we should have been told that the underfloor would need substantial work. After some investigation of my own, I noticed that the underfloor would need repairs in at least two separate locations and I told both Lee and Ed this. I was told that the fitter (Luke) would do all the work that was required, that I would be told of the work that would need doing and be told of the cost beforehand. None of these things happened. After speaking to Luke I was told that he noticed that the underfloor needed work, he called Lee and was told specifically not to fix the floor. This was another big mistake, I should have been informed of the state of the underfloor so I could have it fixed before laying a brand new floor over the top. Once the job was finished, my kitchen floor was partly removed even though it should not have been touched, the window trim in the living room was broken and the flooring in the hallway was very bouncy. After calling the shop many times eventually Richard was sent around to fix these problems. Richard fixed the kitchen floor but broke our brand new washer/dryer in the process, causing us to lose our 5 year warranty. Richard also fixed the window trim and simply packed out the underfloor in the hallway which did not fix the problem. After many weeks speaking to Jade at the Carpet Shop eventually Lance was sent over to lift the bouncing floor, fix the underfloor and replace the wood boards, or so I was told. Once Lance came over he told me he would take a look at the underfloor once it was up and fix whatever needed fixing. The finished result was a slight improvement on before but still very bouncy and creaking. On his advice I gave the floor time to settle in but after roughly 3 months things were even worse with the floor now bowing up. After several more weeks of conversation with the shop Luke was sent back to fix the underfloor but this time I had to cover the cost, which was £270. Once Luke took the floor up we discovered that Lance had not fixed the underfloor in any way, he hadn't even glued the boards in place which accounted for the movement and the creaking. As far I am concerned Lance conned both me and you on this job. Luke proceeded to lift the unglued boards and fixed the underfloor. We reused the old boards left over from the original fitting which left small gaps I was told Luke would fill with s little wood filler. Unfortunately Luke did not have any filler with him on the day of completion (Saturday 18th February) and he would come back on Monday at 19:30 to complete the job. Luke did not turn up so I called him to arrange a new date, which was set for Wed 22nd. He did not turn up again so I called yet again for another date. This time he said he would come over on Friday 24th. He did not turn up a third time and now he will not answer my calls or return my messages. As you can see, every single person we have dealt with has let us down. Lee, Ed, Richard, Luke and Lance have all worked to a substandard level with only Jade attempting to help us. Also, it seems your guarantee is worthless as all of these repairs should have been covered, yet I had to pay for the final repair work. Not only am I left with a substandard floor I also have to deal with an unfinished repair job. Please rest assured that I will not recommend your services to anyone.

When I moved to London several years back, I think it took me about a year to figure out one could buy household goods someplace other than argos. Of course, I lived in halls near covent garden, so I give myself a small excuse for that idiocy. Now that I'm in Camden, I generally head to A&K for all the little bits and peices of kitchen and other assorted household stuff I may need (for those who have done time in the states, I often go here for the random sorts of things that used to have me Target-bound). They are not infallible, nor would I go there for sparkling service (not bad mind, they just basically leave you alone), but I find that if I can't find something random in A&K, there's a decent chance I won't find it anywhere else nearby either.

I still to this day regret not buying it for resale alone (bubblegum pink is not for me lol)

Unfortunately, my experience was far from 'fast' and efficient. I called in a plumber to sort out the leak under my sink. Unfortunately, it was out of his capabilities as the leak was inside the building wall. I have asked the plumber, named Meguid, to have a look at the shower head that also has a leakage issue. Meguid did not have the parts with him but tightened the existing fitting and secured it with a tape, and offered to come back with necessary parts if it continues to leak. The leak indeed occurred again, so I tried calling Meguid to get him to come back with the necessary parts. To sum it up, I had to chase him by calling twice a week over a period of 5 weeks trying to arrange for him to come back. On various occasions he answered my calls, every time coming up with excuses and promising to call back. Never happened! So I gave up on waiting, and called RedMound and complained. They took 2 weeks to investigate and their solution was to call another plumber, pay full call charge again plus the charge for the parts. I wasted 7 weeks waiting for them to sort out what is a relatively simple issue and they do not feel responsible for the wrong doing and attitudes of their plumbers.
