To start, when I stepped into the entryway, Dr. G. gave me a warm welcome as the pleasant scent of a diffuser provided a sense of calm. But, I remained cautious of the scents because I have asthma and sometimes the constant permeated smells in a room will often trigger an attack. Nevertheless, I loved the scents and the warm friendly nature of Dr. G. As I completed the new patient check in which was also offered online prior to my appointment, Dr. G. was prepping for my visit. When I completed the paperwork, Dr. G. took me on the educational tour of his practice. One thing I know for sure is Dr. G's desire to provide education to his patients. He has the heart of a teacher. He wants people to have a sense of ownership with their chiropractic care and how this element can affect various aspects of our lives that we would never know. Dr. G. says that everything he does is with intention to help heal and restore so that pain and suffering will be a distant memory. This is a philosophy I can get behind. As Dr. G. guided me along the path, we finally sat down in his office to discuss the financial matters. I noticed a lovely message on his desktop whiteboard that really made me feel as if Dr. G. really wanted to earn my trust. And he did! It was a small gesture, but greatly appreciated. After the consultation, Dr. G. took out a state of the art digitized gadget to assess my condition. We discussed the meaningful process of what I would need from this point. Next, it was time for me to get another assessment with a few other high tech instruments. Once Dr. G., gave me his prescribed course of action, it was back cracking time...well almost. I was lead into a room with two black tables with a cushy middle section. These were the massage tables. I was given three minutes on this wonderful machine. I tried to beg for one hour but of course that was ridiculous. Good thing I only held this thought in my head and not out of my mouth. After the tables, Dr. G., took me into another room for the adjustment. Dr. G., talked to me throughout the room. He guided me through each step. I literally felt better immediately. TL;DR I've had an overall positive experience with Dr. Ofek and his office, and his work made a…read morenight and day impact on debilitating hip pain during my pregnancy. I couldn't take the stairs due an old injury and my pregnancy, but after two visits with Dr. Ofek, I could walk normally again with pain. I have been to 4 different chiropractors in my past and feel relatively comfortable with chiropractic care and body work. When I became pregnant for the second time and developed serious hip pain, partially thanks to an old injury, I'm surprised I didn't think to visit a chiropractor until it was recommended to me. I had been working with a pelvic physical therapist, who helped with some muscle tension relief, but it wasn't until the day after my second Chiro visit at Ofek's that my body felt safe and comfortable. Since then, I've been keeping up a maintenance schedule of visits. I started with once a week and just recently feel comfortable with two weeks between visits, even in my third trimester. TREATMENT Dr. Ofek uses a few different techniques, most of them I was already familiar with from past Chiro offices. If there's a technique you're uncomfortable with, chances are, he'll have another option available to use instead. Examples I've used: manual manipulation, pressure, theragun. I appreciate how he doesn't just check on how my hips are doing but also does an overview of how my whole body wellness is doing. For example, he has some techniques that can assist with acid reflux and jaw tension. KIDS There's a kids play area for little ones in the small lobby. When I first brought my young children with me, Dr. Ofek took time to explain to them how he was helping my body so they could feel at ease in the treatment room with me. (My kids have not gotten treatment, but I know pediatric chiropractic is a specialty here.) LOGISTICS & SCHEDULING The office managers are both very friendly. Plenty of parking is behind the building. There's a single bathroom in the building (a converted house). There is one treatment room, which will have its door open for most patients. There is also a PT room of sorts with gentle exercise equipment. And there is a private office where the doctor will speak with you for in-take. (As I write this, a child is getting treatment with their parent present, and the treatment door is closed for privacy.) I really appreciate how the office often has appointments available day-of. I definitely prefer to schedule ahead of time, but sometimes your body surprises you and needs help right away.
