here's the deal. i've never been to a chiro before. i've stayed away because of their reputation, the faces people pull when they talk about chiropractors can be be extremely off putting. some people just want to pounce on you and say, "oohh, have you heard that story about the person that had a broken back because of a chiro? BECAUSE IT HAPPENED TO A FRIEND OF A FRIEND OF MINE."
i've had back pain for many, many years. and honestly, i've had treatment by some pretty shitty physios that haven't managed to help. i've seen some good physios too (auburn spinal therapy, what up!) but really, i just figured it would be this ongoing problem that i had to live with for the rest of my life. i don't need an alarm clock because i know i'll wake up to pain in my lower back about 30 minutes before the alarm goes off.
i had a massive night of drinking and dancing one night. the next day, i was struggling to walk. i decided to take a chance on this place from a recommendation. i had an appointment with dr rob ballantyne. the girls at the office are SUPER friendly and really accommodating, and booked me in that day.
i went, they did some x-ray scans while was standing up. ok, so rob is really good looking, and while he was showing me the scans, all i could do was stare at my junk that was all up on that scan. so he's talking, and i'm thinking, i can see my boobs on the x-ray, can you see my boobs? oh my god, my boobs are right there! i thought x-rays were just about bones! are we really having conversation about my back with my boobs on screen?
so i didn't really absorb a lot of what he was saying. something about misalignment, my pelvis being wonky, blah blah blah. we go back to the room for the alignment. this is where i discovered i'm a screamer. he adjusted two places and i screamed, both times. then laughed like i'd smoked a bong and watched space ghost. I COULD NOT STOP LAUGHING. until the next adjustment, then i screamed again, then back to giggling.
so i felt better, i had a bit more movement and felt lighter. i went home, relatively satisfied.
I DID NOT WAKE FROM PAIN. in fact, i was late to work because i slept through the alarm. HEAVEN! i can't even tell you how excited i was. i still haven't woken from pain. it's amazing.
oh, i had to cancel an appointment because i had gastro and didn't think it would be polite to vomit at their office, and rob gave me a call a couple of days later to check to see if it had to do with my back. how nice is that?
so yeah, highly recommended. the first appointment is expensive (i think around $250+) and then every other appointment is about normal ($55). read more
