The table was ready when we arrived, our drinks were served shortly after we placed our order. When the food began arriving the children's meals came first which really helped settle them down. I ordered Schweinebraten (Bavarian style pork roast). The meat was succulent and tender. It was topped with a crispy piece of fried pork-belly. A gigantic potato dumpling and a dollop of sauerkraut completed the plate. A nice dark bock beer from the Weltenburger brewery was a perfect pairing with the entree. The others in our group were well satisfied with their choices as well. Conveniently located near the cathedral and a short walk from the train station on Bahnhofstraße or the cruise ship docks on the Danube, if you are looking for a good German dining experience, the Weltenburger am Dom would be an excellent choice,

Second time here and not the last time either…read more Friendly, professional staff, the location is right in the middle of downtown and a great place for visit and overnight stay if coming into Nurnberg or Munich, this is close to Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz and if you are in Bavaria, I would definitely stop here. The Gasthof has rooms to rent with all modern facilities, including a large adjustable flat screen TV, there is free wifi as well It is exceptionally clean and well run. A typical bavarian breakfast comes with the room making this a great bargain. The restaurant is worth taking a side trip for. Chef Robert's creations are delicious and the portion size is very generous. There are traditional Bavarian creations such as Sauerbraten with dumplings as well as my favorite, Pearl Chicken in a Calvados sauce with thin noodles.

We ordered "Schaufele" (roasted pork shoulder) with potato dumplings, roasted pork with gravy and potatoe dumplings, Cordon Bleu (kind of Wiener Schnitzel filled with Cheese and Ham) with fries and "Käse-Spätzle" - Noodles with cheese and onions from the pan. All dishes came with a small salad and very quick. The roasted pork was of mediocre quality and the gravy seemed to be made from concentrate out of the can. Not a good quality. Also the dumpling. The Schaufele, (the roasted pork shoulder) was extremely soft and tender meat - the taste was good and also the baked pork skin was crispy and tasty. The only downside of this meal was - as stated before - the salad of mediocre quality. Also the dumpling delivered with the dish was not pursuing.
