Having the pond nearby was a plus and we were within a 25min driving to almost everywhere in Portland. We were a bit concerned how parking 2 vehicles would work since the apartment only comes with 1 spot, but we never had any issues getting a spot in the front lot! We had a top floor apartment and didn't have issues with noisy neighbors. Overall, we would recommend this apartment to anyone!

But if you are someone who likes more privacy in an apartment, than I wouldn't suggest these. You can literally hear everything your neighbor is saying or doing. Whether it's next door, downstairs, or upstairs. We live in a 3rd floor 2bed/2ba.. I know apartment living comes with noise, but it should never be this much.. and at the price point. I like quiet, but I also like to function regular in my place without being a disturbance to neighbors.. regular things like having a convo on the phone, sex, using the restroom, arguments, can all be heard as if the people are in your apartment.. parking is also a bit of an issue too...and things break with no real help... Finally things were fixed in the apt. But in general, you can hear your neighbors cough! You can hear whole convos about private info. So in response to Lake Salish, it's no one specific, it's that the walls and floors aren't sound proof, not even a little bit. Paper thin... you can hear everything. No matter which apt you Are in. :)

No I'm not a former employee of the property management company. But I am a retired property manager and I can honestly say you get out of the experience exactly what you put into it. FACT OF LIFE, if you are grumpy, always complaining and looking for problems, PEOPLE will avoid you. Not Guardian or the management team, they're pretty patient, but just ordinary people who have no desire to deal with that kind of a person. Before you complain about others first check your own attitude. The apartments are small but very comfortable, well laid out with plenty of room for furniture, sounds contradictory but it's not, lots of storage space and maintenance is friendly and responds faster than most. The park like grounds and buildings are kept immaculate. Yes it's hot in the summer and cold in winter, get an air conditioner and put on a sweater like everyone else in the country! If you're patient you'll find your home here. When you do take the time to get to know the management team and residents, introduce yourself, go to morning coffee, shake a few hands and smile. Like everything else in life, You Get Back Exactly What You Give. IT'S A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE. Tony Gilman Current Resident

Just wow.. place sucks. Don't keep their word with anything.. management has changed 4-5 times in…read moreless than a year and a half. Too expensive for the amenities and bunch of riff raff moving in. Seems almost like they don't care how many people are in each apartment as long as their high rent rate gets paid. Trash area used to be locked and we "had to" have our key to get in.. now people just break the handle or the gate open and dump their trash anywhere and everywhere. No cameras to catch the pathetic people leaving their trash a foot away from the compactor. Dirty diapers, broken glass, furniture get left out so you have to obstacle course your way around them to be a good tenant and make your trash into the "can".. our dryer sucks, our washer smells. Could be and should be better.. but it's not. In response to Jason: What improvements have you made? I received a notice yesterday asking residents not to be slobs and then go to take my trash out last night and it's as bad as the pictures I have taken over the past couple of years. I know you don't have control over people's lack of hygiene, but I am genuinely interested in what improvements have and are going to be made. Haven't seen it yet. Update: WE MOVED OUT. There are many positives to be had at this place but also many negatives. Management changes A LOT. I had to fight the management group in court when THEY lost my rent. They also failed to log in 17+ other resident's ("that we know of"). We were harassed with eviction notices and phone calls for 3 months until it was finally resolved. S

Residents are told not to throw their trash away because it's overflowing and are fined if they do throw it away and it's caught on camera. Instead of adjusting to the appropriate frequency of waste removal service, the management lets this happen and then penalizes the residents for utilizing trash service when it's already full. So my parent gets to sit with garbage in the house for days at a time and I even take some with me to dispose of at my house when I go over there and it infuriates me that this is the living situation there. This is just completely unacceptable and absolutely abhorrent. Just disgusted.

The have rats and bees by the dumpsters, there is no extra parking. I complained about people parking in handicap and they marked my car with a handicap tag in the window to tow me., because I was over the line. The parking lot spaces are all uneven which is not code. In fact everytime I complained to management about anything, I would receive a write up notice. The last time I complained, I was told to get my chest freezer off the patio, which I asked if I could put in on my porch two years ago and they said yes. But I complained to the manager about something and got a notice to move my freezer, I called the property mananger and she told me it does not matter what a prior company said you need to move it, I told her that I was handicapped, she said then pay someone to move it. Do not get in the pool of it is cloudy, they do not take care of the chemicals in the water, THE POOL IS TO SMALL FOR THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE USING IT. Look at the appliances before you move in, pull out the dishwasher rack, it is terrible, look at the small fridge and the small sink. Make sure the garbage disposal works.( I didn't have a working sink for almost a month) Look at the parking lot, no extra parking. Look at the tiny pool and how many people live there. Check the garbage area, always a mess. they charge you a fee if you pay by debit card or check. Do not be snowballed by the smiles of management, they will show their true colors in time. Do not move here cause you will be leaving like everyone else it's just a matter of time, save yourself the hassle. Shop for a better place to live, I found one that is $250 cheaper with a pool four times the size in a gated community with a game room and theatre.

We hoped to find one that was affordable, pet-friendly, and close to the Vancouver waterfront which we enjoyed during our prior visits to see family in the the area. The Slate Ridge apartment community met those requirements and then some! We were highly impressed by the beautifully kept grounds around the apartments! This included a variety of tall forest-like trees and open shaded paths between the covered car parking areas. Not only did they have the furnished appliances we needed such as a washer/dryer, stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher, but they also recently remodeled/updated the upstairs apartment with new countertops and cupboards. We worked remotely with our Slate Ridge apartment leasing agent Amanda Baker who was very professional and welcoming! We appreciated both Amanda Baker and the Sltate Ridge community manager Amber Walsh who each took the time to answer all of our questions by email and phone which was comforting to know that our apartment would be ready for us when we arrived after a long two-day drive from California. Amanda even arranged a video walk-through of one of their empty one-bedroom apartment models that we were interested in leasing ahead of our arrival. We were even more impressed with the quick response of their maintenance team of Ron and Randy who responded within a few days after the move-in inspection to remove some older window stripping and replace one of the kitchen cabinet doors. We are enjoying some of the extra amenities here at Slate Ridge including a fenced-in dog park, daily "Valet Trash Pick-Up" at your apartment door, the free freshly grounded Starbucks coffee machine in the clubhouse, and the central mailroom with Amazon locker package service! It's a peaceful apartment complex that is close to a few beautiful community parks, all your shopping stores like Target, Fred Meyer's, Home Depot, Walgreens, a major hospital, a fire department, and a neighborhood bus transit center serving the local Vancouver community, and the Portland International Airport. It truly feels like home here!
