Atmosphere: It is modern inside, it seems like the place was just built (or I should say renovated). One thing I like to note is how spacious the places in Toulouse are. If there is a little room between tables so you don't HAVE to eavesdrop on your neighbor, that's a good thing. This place had some room, so that was a plus. Service: Our waitress was nice, no complaints. She spoke English and French. The owner, at least I think it was the owner, was funny when we left because he asked if we liked Japanese food and that there was a great place next door. I'm sure he is friends with them or something...? Usually you don't try to get patrons to NOT come to your restaurant! But hey, when in France...! Price: Reasonable, not cheap but not expensive. Like most places in Toulouse, they have a "meal deal" sort of thing where you can get an appetizer and entree or entree and dessert or go for broke with all 3. Afterwards, my husband said "best tofu I've ever had". If you've read my other reviews where I mention my husband, his best descriptive is usually okay. He said he would gladly eat at Mékong again and again. My food was good. I ate almost all of my food (barely left anything). In my defense, I starve myself when cruising, so when I have my first meal post cruise, i am usually hungrier than I normally would be. My husband ate all of his noix aux cajou, but only half of the rice. The nems were great too. The guava bottled juice was good too. The restaurant is very quaint. If I move to Toulouse, I'll be there again.

The server brought us complimentary drinks as we browsed the menu (we thought we were getting something special, but the other customers also received such nice treatment). One of us ordered Pad See Yew with chicken, and the other ordered a spicy beef dish with rice and vegetables. It came with a salad and included dessert. Throughout the meal, we drank a lot of water, which was continuously refilled without hesitation - a rarity in France. Finally, the pacing was impeccable, as the server kept an eye on our meals and knew when it was time to bring out the next course. For two meals, we paid about 18 euros in total, a great value for delicious food. It was just like Thai food I eat at home. We even left a small tip (in France) - that's how good it was.

You can reach this zone by foot from Capitole in about 20 minutes if you're up for a nice stroll. Metro also near. We sat in the main room, there is also a room downstairs. Staff was friendly. Prices are average. We had satay brochette which were okay, chicken with cashews and a coconut curry. There weren't many flavors, the veggies were not very crunchy, and the pieces of chicken not super tender. I was not TOO impressed. I have tasted better thai sauces also in Toulouse (Cite du Mandarin, Chez Moi...). This place isn't bad if you're in the area but don't go thinking you will have the best meal of your life.

One of the largest frustrations of being in most parts of France is finding an open restaurant after about 830-900 and we were successful here. The Thai offerings were great, nice sized portions easily served family style. The curries were excellent as were the wok items and there was even a decent amount of heat in several of the items, (the Pa Nang curry for example). The Pad Thai was great and the only thing that was lacking was a decent array of street noodles(which I could have missed). To make a long story short, the people here are delightful and their food is great plus they serve really cold tap water and don't try to force you to purchase some really mediocre Vittel for about 6 bucks a liter. This place is a real find and we walked out very satisfied. Yes, go to this place!!! In the end, it fed us and we were satisfied; just no reason to recommend this spot. The beer selections were also ALL Asian, and that's not good beer. The wine selection was also very limited.
