I had the most surreal time at this restaurant today. I went in with my two children and several problems arose immediately. First, the owner who took our order made a fuss when I ordered tap water for us. As a family, we do not buy bottled water for very good political reasons and getting three glasses of tap water should not have made such outrage by the owner. Then I ordered three dishes. The soup came out within ten minutes and then we had to wait another half hour at least for the rest of the food. My son who is three was very hungry and did not appreciate the wait. Instead of realising that he was hungry and perhaps offering us our rice first, the owner comes out to grumpily tell him off. I found this inappropriate since he is three and she, being in the food business, should have clued in that 35 minutes is a long wait for children. Even my five year old was asking where the food was, perplexed. Then the owner comes out to remove the chopsticks from my children and I told her that my five-year old uses them. The owner condescended to me and said that children don't use chopsticks. Uh, yeah they do. We have lived in China and children begin using chopsticks just as early as they use spoons in the west. But whatever, I realised this was an unpleasant person and said nothing.
Then the food came and it was not great, not terrible. But it was not worth almost €10. One tofu and one aubergine dish that at most low quality restaurants would have cost half the price. My son was already so over-hungry at this point that he was upset and knocked over a holder of salt, pepper and vinegar-soy. So I just wanted to leave at that point as he was miserable having waited so long for the food that it was better to have the food wrapped up. Instead of expediting us out of there, the owner made us stay to watch them clean and she shouted at my son. It was really insane--he just turned three and was clearly hungry and tired of not having food. The owner then brought out our food in a bag and the bill which was nuts: she charged an extra food item which was the vinegar and soy holder my son broke. I have insurance and would have been happy to have my insurance pay for this, but I did not appreciate the sneaky methods this person used to fake the broken holders which were only a couple Euro in total as food, then up-pricing it to €10. Then the tap water, remember that? €1 each. Yup. And my children were given a tiny amount of tap water.
In short, the food isn't worth it here. The service is a nightmare unless you are into being bullied. (She even announced to the next table what trouble children are and they proceeded to shame my three year old. Seriously!) And the shameless thieving is really unbelievable. Remember the food she had wrapped up? Well they didn't include the rice we paid for.
Avoid this restaurant. I hope they go out of business tomorrow. It is a pathetic excuse for a restaurant. Dishonest and not quality! read more
