We're pretty familiar with the menu, and can personally recommend the spring rolls as appetisers - they are, without exception, always hot, flavoursome and delicious. Similarly, the chicken and cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce (in a birds nest) is a favourite, and the beef with mushrooms is a regular dish in our order. That's not to say the other food isn't excellent - it always is. The staff are attentive and friendly, and will usually respond to any special requests. However, we have always found Friday and Saturday nights to be a bit too busy for us, when the staff are whizzing around serving the large number of covers. However, that said, we do take our young son with us, and if we were with adult friends or just as a couple, it would probably not matter at all to us. Can't really think of anything there is to dislike about the Phoenix. The toilets are clean, the beer is cold and the food really hits the spot. Well worth a visit.

The staff to be fair wanted to give a refund but made out they couldn't. Either way I've left my details at the store and tried to email. I will get ignored but I wont be returning and will advise everyone else not to go. A restaurant which recently got a 1* hygine rating ( look it up) i would expect to turn it around and also make a customers experience good. I prefer to order a collection and I arrive at the shop around 20 minutes later to pick it up. The food is fresh and smells wonderful! Sometimes I nick a few chips out the bag when I'm in the car, just can't help it. Delivery is ok but when it gets super busy e.g. saturday nights around 6-8pm delivery time can be around an hour because they currently (I believe) have only one delivery driver. So I'd ask on the phone how long collection might be. Collection time is usually half the time of delivery, plus I save money on the delivery charge (esp. when I'm at my friends and we're a few villages away). The delivery charge goes directly to the driver anyways so I can't tip the chefs who actually cook the food at the door even if I wanted to.
