Maybe it was the heat, but if our experience is Chimbe's best, they did not meet our expectations. We booked lunch here using TheFork; lunch booking was based on high rating.
Quickly seated, we asked to order two glasses of the vino de la casa. This resulted in a lecture about how they didn't serve vino de la casa (and honestly, the rhetoric was delivered so fast and so scathingly we didn't understand all of it) .. little known to use, house wine isn't/shouldn't be a thing (?). We thought we were just being responsible drivers and going by the glass and not the bottle (lol).
After all of that .. we were served vino bianco, by the glass, and it was the best part of the entire lunch. We did two glasses each, it was so fabulous.
We shared the apple and walnut salad; was nice. Both of us had the local pasta with sausage .. not so nice. It's my favorite dish here; I've eaten it at three restaurants and this was 3 of 3. Pasta was mushy and the sauce had no oomph to it at all.
Couldn't help but think wasted calories, but I'm guessing we sweated most of them out -- we were soaked when we got up to leave. read more
