As you approach the restaurant you'll notice it from the heavy green glow it gives off, it's quite an interesting sight. However as you approach further you'll start wondering where you should park. There is a very small car park outside however if that's full you'll have to put it on the road somewhere.
Walking up to the door you'll notice that you can see clearly inside the kitchen through huge open windows, which is an impressive and bold move.
The internal décor of the restaurant was quite plain, white walls with a few picture frames, however the lighting was a nice standard. I don't like to be blinded while I eat so there was a nice calm atmosphere.
The dining area seemed quite small, I don't know if it was just me but the ceilings seemed quite low which gave the area quite a compact feel. It was almost cosy, however I would not want to dine here when it was full.
The staff were very friendly and provided an excellent service. We were given plenty of time to choose from the menu and didn't feel rushed. Although we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time so that may be why we had their full attention.
There was a great selection of food which was on the slightly pricier end, however they offer a 2 for 1 deal on certain dishes so that looked like brilliant value for money.
The four of us there ordered a pint of coke each (that was slightly watery, possibly post-mix) and waited for our meal while eating poppadoms which came with a nice variety of sauces.
The wait for the food wasn't too bad and when it came it was presented very nicely, the dishes were quite large and there was plenty there to satisfy us.
The food itself was quite nice, although quite sweet.
The Saag Chicken was quite oily and the Pasanda was VERY heavy on the white wine. The Tikka and Butter chicken however were delicicious.
The Keema Naan was lacking in Lamb, however it was still quite tasty.
After the meal we were feeling quite full but opted for a dessert anyway. We were also presented with 4 free shots of Bailey's for checking in on Facebook which was a very nice touch.
Now when it comes to desserts I have yet to find an Indian restaurant that does them properly, this was no different.
The desserts ordered were:
A Coconut Ice cream (My usual favourite) which had clearly just come straight out the freezer pre-made as there was a layer of freezer ice sitting on the top although it was delicious so I won't hold that against them.
A Mocca (Coffee Ice cream) that was nicely presented in a ceramic mug, however the taste was very potent and grainy, it would have been better if provided with a side of cream or sauce.
A Strawberry Ice cream which had no complaints.
At the end we all felt very satisfied with our meal and I was quite impressed. We were given the bill and that's where I became disappointed.
We had thought that with the 2 for 1 deal, this trip would have been quite a good price. As we would have received 4 dishes for around £17-18.
However those pints of coke were £3 each, which even by restaurant standards is on the high end, especially considering they didn't taste like they came out the bottle.
Another hidden cost was the sauces that came with the poppadoms. We knew how much the poppadoms were however they added around another £3 to the bill for the sauces which we were not told about when ordering the poppadoms, we didn't even order the sauces, they were just included.
Aside from that we did work out that it was all correct, we had spent that much and instead of feeling like we got good value for money, we all felt quite dissatisfied with the price of what we just had.
We dreaded to think how much it would have cost had we not had a 2 for 1 dish.
Overall the food was quite good, the service was great, the price was disappointing. I don't know if I will return here, it's one of the few Indian restaurants in the area so I might do, maybe I will try to see how far I get on a budget here. read more
