I phoned and emailed before my policy was up for renewal to Cancel -(cause i know what these companies are like, they will just renew anyway) however even are cancelling the policy - they totally ignored this and continued to take DD from my bank. When I phoned to sort it they said I would be refunded as it did look like the policy lapsed and I shouldn't have been charged. (Eh duh ) However, here I am 10 days later no refund, but now 2 DD taken out. I love the way they still have your bank details and keep on taking until you have to ring & email- waste so much time to try and get my own money back, this broker is ridiculous, pure SCAM. better off going direct to insurer. read more

Unbelievably bad customer service, sales are easy but to et anything else off them is almost impossible , I have waited over two weeks for proof of NCB letter. Avod this broker , go direct to the insurer, middleman in this case offers no value read more

Tried to transfer insurance, on hold for 30 mins , then call dropped, eventually after 3rd attemp on hold, got to talk to a human, couldn't understand him, then was put on hold again and would you believe it, the call dropped, changed company, advise don't go near them, they may be a bit cheaper but not worth it. read more

I recently used chill insurance for my car insurance but NEVER AGAIN. My car got robbed ,ok, I can't blame chill for this : ), but subsequently when I'd replaced my car with the insurance payout, I wanted to put another family member on the policy. The guy I rang in chill assured me that if I changed company I could add him on, and get a refund from the previous policy as it wasn't due for renewel for another 8 months ( This was worth approximately 600 euro). So I stupidly believed him and paid for a different policy under a different company. When I never got my refund , I tried contacting chill for weeks on end, emailing, live chat ect. I'd even documented the name of the guy who'd told me this information, and the date and time, and they said they'd check their phone records. This was months ago. Now they've basically blanked me. I'd advise NOBODY to use chill insurance. I was a loyal customer for over 5 years and am now 600 euro down as a result of their mistake. They are only helpful when they are looking for your money, then they abandon you. read more
"We'll take it from here!" proclaim their many ads on the telly. Even the name "Chill" invokes thoughts of relaxation and an easy insurance transaction, the complete opposite of my experience with them. We are in the process of buying our first home, anyone who has been through this knows what a stressful time is it, particularly these days. Everything has to be perfect, has to be done to deadlines and any mistake, no matter how minor, can cost dearly. The last hurdle we had to over come before drawing down our mortgage was getting our home insurance sorted, compared with the applying for the mortgage in the first place, it should have been a doddle. My other half phoned Chill and went through our requirements and was delighted with the price he was quoted so we went ahead. However he realised a short time later he had given the wrong start date so phoned them to correct it, an easy enough thing to do. We received documents in the post a few days later with his name spelled wrong, my name nowhere to be found, the address wrong and the wrong date still on the documents. We needed to get a letter of indemnity off to our broker asap so he phoned them back to correct everything, and phoned and phoned every day for almost a week and yet Chill could not supply the required documents despite promising every time to email them. A week later we got a new set of documents but again name wrong, address wrong and no me on it. We've canceled the policy after trying and failing multiple times to get Chill to respond to our requests. We paid more in the end but it was worth it because I had the required documents in a mere 16 hours after buying the policy. All we have to do now is get our money back... read more
Chill is the last thing I am right now I paid my car insurance with them in full for the year over a month ago. They have still not sent me the disk... nor have they returned any of my calls or emails as to why not. When I signed up with them I filled out a form with my info... they preceded in getting ever single detail wrong except my date of birth. On average I'm 20-30 minutes on hold before I get through to a customer service rep who has no idea what's going on. In fact as I type this I'm hit 19... Worst. Broker. Ever. read more

Scammers. I just finished sending them this e-mail, but don't expect it'll do any good. Dear Sir/madam, Recently I got a letter from Chill stating that I would be informed on the best new deals. After that I received no other notifications... no advice. No nothing. I then got a text warning me that if I didn't renew quickly I'd miss out on the Early-Renewal discount. I rang in to find out what was going on. A representative spoke to me. He then told me the best insurance for me to get would be to renew my Aviva Insurance. I asked him about 4 times what the broker fee would be, as last year I was surprised to find 50 euro added to the number that I was told I'd have to pay. This 50 euro was the broker fee for Chill Insurance. So this time I asked.. at least 4 times. I called it broker fee, I called it admin fee I asked if there was ANY other cost. He said "No Sir, I assure you it will be 124 euro for you to renew! No other cost! I don't know what happened last year, but I assure you it will be ok this year!" So imagine my astonishment (read my sarcasm) when I got 2 letters from Chill. One stating my renewal would be 124 euro and one stating there was a 40 euro administration charge + 5% Government Levy, along with a admonition to pay this upfront as soon as possible. Despite the fact that I explicitly asked to pay it in 2 payments, because again I was assured that would not incur any extra cost. Please go ahead and listen to the recordings of this phone call, because to be frank I consider this to be 'conning' of clients. I would have probably agreed to the 164 euro, but it's just the principle of being misled (you could even called it Lied) to again. So what is it with Chill Insurance that it's so hard for you people to be honest and open about what you are doing and charging? No wonder Insurance companies and specifically brokers have such a bad rep. read more

Having tried to renew with AA, whose advertised online chat doesn't function, being left on hold, then told I"m through to the wrong edpartment despite having "pressed 2 for home" EACH TIME and then promised 3 times in the last week I'd get a call back to no avail, I caved and went to Chill. The Cork man I spoke to after a brief period on hold went through all the questions in a friendly manner, explaining the tricky ones (define "flood", explain why 123.ie don't insure if a mains pipe in the area, covered by a city council, where our property wasn't even affected etc etc). The staff on 123.ie are excellent we've found, but they wouldn't cover us for this weird non flooding event. Chill found someone who would, for less. So overall, yes, I'm pleased. Much as I utterly hate the whole ordeal of insurance shopping and I feel I've lost entire day, I think I'd go back! read more

Absolute nightmare. Called multiple times trying to change my risk address as they literally had it as: House Number, Town, Town (e.g. 17, Dublin, Dublin). I was told this had been adjusted and someone would call me back to take my deposit. Nobody did. My insurance then lapsed so I called them back (I'm based in the UK so this costs a fortune and it really doesn't help when you are being left on hold and having to call multiple times). Was then advised that the address was STILL incorrect. I had to explain again that the address they had decided to put on it wasn't even remotely valid (though I would have thought that was obvious particularly to someone dealing with addresses all day?!). They then told me I would have to go through the process of getting another new quote, despite having already done this, because they'd forgotten to update the address?? They told me they'd call me back when they figured out how the error had occurred. I'm still waiting. I've just gone directly to Liberty Insurance who they were giving me the quote with- cheaper and actual customer service! **UPDATE: I have now also been charged for the policy that was lapsed putting me into an unscheduled overdraft. I paid €1100 for my car insurance. The sales team are brilliant, they called me back in minutes to take my money and seemed lovely..... Then once they had my money, the service plummeted. They got my details wrong on the documents and won't reply to any of my contact. I even complained on their Facebook page, but my post kept disappearing without any contact. I'm a month into my insurance and still have no confirmation that I am legal to drive. In the end, I contacted AXA, who provide the insurance. They felt so bad for me, that they promised to look into my complaint, even though I'm not strictly their customer! Avoid Chill. They are a bit cheaper, but if you can't drive your car, then you are simp,y giving your money away. read more

All I want to do is add a driver to my policy: I have rang about 6 times and spent around two hours on hold. I was told my details were updated, they weren't. I have been put on hold for no apparent reason, hung up on, and now can't even get through to customer care. This is ridiculous! read more

Very straightforward service which I'd highly recommend. Received my quote within a few minutes and was explained to very clearly the features and benefits of my policy as well as how I could get the best value on it. The agent I was speaking to was very helpful and polite and was not pushy at all which is something pivotal to me taking out a policy with anyone; that I'm not being rushed and forced. I received the documentation extremely quickly and as I live close enough to their offices I was able to return all the signed forms it the next day and have the policy set up very quickly which was great as I was heading off on holidays a few days later, so didn't have a lot of time to play around with. I've only had one dealing with them since which was to retrieve some additional documentation which I received within a couple of days of requesting it so all in all I'm a very happy customer and needless to say it's the cheapest policy I've had in my 10 years of driving. read more

I bought a policy on the 3rd of June and cancelled it half an hour later due to getting a far cheaper deal, person on the phone said that all I had to do was send an email confirming that I want to cancel policy. They also said that I had to send back discs but the discs never landed to the house, probably due to it being cancelled so quickly they were probably never sent in the first place, I rang them back about ten days later they said on top of the email I had to send in a lost disc form even though I never received them or they were never posted out, also they never told me this the first time I rang?! I ring them again about a week and a half later because the money still hasn't been given back, they said they are unsure if I can get it cancelled as they didn't receive the letter until the 20th which was after the 14 day cooling off period even tho I cancelled it half an hour later and they never told me about it until I rang them wondering why the money hasn't gone in?! The policy wasn't to start until the 1st of July, I ring them on the last day of June because my insurance is about to run out, the company that were giving me the far cheaper deal were only offering the deal until the last day of June (and it has gone way up since), I Thought that would be no problem cancelling on the 3rd of June I was sure the money would be back by the last day of June, for the hassle it caused I rang again and said could I just keep the policy with chill, they said I can't as it's already been cancelled but They just haven't given the money back yet, and if I want to reinstate it I have to pay another 200 euro which is an absolute joke as the policy wasn't beginning until the first of July so there was absolutely no reason for it, July 9th now and I still have no money returned 36 days later and have no car, absolute joke of a company the hassle that they've caused me this past month and not even having a car to drive now... I need this money asap sent this three days ago and no help whatsoever, waiting almost 6 weeks and still no money.. read more

Have to laugh, every year when I am renewing my car insurance I always get a quick online quote from chill.ie just for the crack to see how much they could save me. My renewal quote from my own insurer was 435euro third party fire and theft. One other quote I got from another insurer was 491euro fully comp. So these the benchmarks to go off, now for chill.ie quote, drum roll please you know its going to save me a fortune as they have only gone and compared all these quotes from different companies to get me the best offer don't you know............ and boom, there it is a fantastic quote of 675euro third party fire and theft and 632euro fully comp. So that's it i'm glad I wasted my time with this bunch of chancers, anyone going with them without getting an independent quotes needs their head examined. read more

I can only agree to the previous reviews, Chill really does not deserve it's name first of all it takes them ages to get back via email, there's never the same person responding so it's starting all over again every time with the same issue. And all that for 1.5 K a year isn't really worth it. Thanks god I was still in the first 2 weeks of the insurance when I already wasn't happy about the service and canceled the insurance straight away, this was 2 weeks ago when they told me the pro-rated refund which was first quoted from one of they're employee as 389.87 EUR with following confirmation from another employee of the amount now received a letter that the refund of 313.00 EUR will be issued within 5 to 10 working days, it was already meant to be 5 to 10 working days 10 working days ago. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Like the person below me I waited a substantial amount of time to get my insurance disc and info etc. The customer service is without a shadow of a doubt the WORST I have ever delt with. I rang every number imaginable and typical of Chill, no answer. When I eventually got through to someone (Had to ring a landline), I explained my grievance, and was told my info as sent, so I waited and waited and nothing. Soooo I rang again and like before no answer, no call backs, no NOTHING, eventually, again I got through, told them the story and was told it was sent out, so at this point I am fuming, I demanded another policy info document was sent to me via registered post to make sure it was delivered, and it came finally with nothing so much as an apology!. Chill were lightning quick when withdrawing my hard earned cash from my account to pay for my new motor policy but when it comes to customer service, well suffice it to say I am biting my tongue. So anyways I recently rang them looking for a new quote as I am planning on getting a new car and surprise surprise, phone rings out, no call backs and on the off chance I speak to someone I am re-directed to a different department despite getting through to motor policy department???, perhaps it may be an idea to have a section where you have an existing policy but require a new quote. I can not be topping up my phone because of their complete lack of competence. I have wasted enough time and credit at this stage. To management/supervisors etc if you read this per chance, you could not honestly run a BATH let alone a insurance brokerage. Any if you should reply, please do not insult my intelligence by telling me that ye are "very busy" because that is a complete cop out, and for the record I will be making sure to tell family members, friend etc to avoid your company as If you had the bubonic plague. I really do hope you heed all of our customer feedback. When my policy is for renewal I will whole heartedly will not be renewing. read more

I insured my car with Ivernia via Chill. the cost of insurance was €619.28 which i paid. 1 month later I changed my car to a more newer model and my car insurance went up to €1262.36, they said thats what Ivernia are charging, Allianz when i got a quote were charging €693.52.....wish i had checked for reviews of Chill before i insured my car....avoid them at all costs read more

I dealt with chill recently for phone insurance and overall the service was good. My phone was replaced with no issues albeit a day later than i was told. However, the lady dealing with my claim by phone was rude. She first spoke to my mother and was clearly having another conversation with someone else and tittering down the phone. When my mother asked if she'd like to ring back when more convenient she barked no back at her and said I was to ring to discuss my options. Never did find out what those options actually were. I then rang two days in a row but no callback so sent a message on facebook. The facebook team (colm) was excellent. Cant praise him enough. He got me a callback from a guy who then handed me over to the girl dealing with me who I have to say has the most atrocious phone manner. Maybe it was the fact that i had to go over her to get a response but she was in no way friendly. I cut the conversation short.Would suggest further training. Maybe its a sign of the times that social media yields results? So 5* for the facebook team. 1* for the phone claim team read more

Really enjoyed dealing with Chill. Had to wait over 1hr 30 mins for a call back which annoyed me slightly but very apologetic when they did ring back. Was definitely worth the wait because they gave me a competitive quote which saved me over a hundred euros. Worst Insurance Company I have ever dealt with!! I gave them every document they asked for, then they kept adding more documents. They forced me to cancel a different insurance on a different vehicle or they would cancel my policy. I sent them the papers needed, they issued me my insurance, then canceled the insurance on the 2nd policy saying they never received the email (how did they receive it for the 1st policy and not the second, it was on the same email). They then decide to keep my insurance for 1 day into the next month and charged me 30% of the premium for the year, just for 1 day!! They took hundreds of Euros and then canceled my policy when we have 8+ years of No Claims. read more

Chill Insurance? Not at all. Stressful insurance! The short story: Shocking sales ethics, broken internal communication, awful customer experience design. They made deliberate errors so as to make the sale and then made us jump through bureaucratic hoops to cancel the policy - on the same day! The long story: 1. We call for a quote and give this information: our daughter has a full license issued in another country in 2010 which was commuted to an Irish license in 2016. We're very clear about this and do it on three separate calls. The sales agents record it as an Irish license issued in 2010. They do this so that he can make a lower quote and win the sale. 2. Before agreeing the sale and giving payment details the agent reads back the information. We realise the error and correct him. He says that's fine and we purchase the policy. 3. After checking this with another broker we call Chill inside of one hour of the sale. The sales agent can't help us anymore - we have to speak to someone else. The guy agrees that the date does make a difference and says there will be an additional €248 payable or we can cancel the contract. We say in that case we want to cancel the policy which only starts 10 days later. He says he'll try fix it. 4. The next morning Chill calls again - since we gave incorrect information to the agent would we like to pay the €248? We reiterate that we provided the correct information and say we want to cancel the contract. 5. A new person says only our daughter can cancel it as she is now the policy holder. The original guy we contacted within the hour is unavailable by phone or email - all day. On their instruction our daughter sends an email cancelling the policy and saying that we can continue to manage the process on her behalf as she is on her way to the airport. 6. We call to confirm the policy is now cancelled. Another new person says she can't cancel it as the certificate and disc have subsequently been posted sometime during this day. We must wait until the post arrives, return it and then they will cancel the policy and refund whatever is left on the policy. Despite attempts to get her to listen to the story of what has actually happened, or that the policy will begin before the documents can be returned, she just keeps repeating procedure back at us. 7. We phone again and get another new person who goes off to the postage room and says he has found the postage item and taken it to the cancellations team. The full refund will now be authorised. 8. We get a call from yet a different guy who apologises on behalf of Chill. He has listened to the sales call and acknowledges that we did provide the correct information which the agent entered incorrectly. He assures us that the policy is now cancelled and the instruction for full refund has been issued. 9. We then get an email from Chill cancellations department saying that the documents have indeed been posted so we will have to wait for them to arrive and return them and then the cancellation can be processed and the balance of the policy will be refunded. 10. We call Chill again and explain the whole story to yet another person. This is the 8th person we are dealing with in 24 hours in addition to loads of emails. Apparently they cannot connect you to the people you've already dealt with. Also there are, according to telephone staff, no supervisors or managers who can assist. He says the documents have indeed been sent off and the policy has actually not been cancelled. Our daughter (who is now on a flight and will only return to Ireland in 10 days time) has to physically fill in a lost certificate and disc form. 11. We explain the whole story again, including that we flagged the problem within an hour of purchase and the items were posted after the cancellation was instructed and our view that this is because they are trying to delay until the policy has begun so that they can only refund part of the policy. 12. After a tussle and consultation with a team-leader who still cannot use the phone him/herself the agent agrees that we can fill the form. 13. We do the form and send it off. We call to confirm and are told it's gone through to cancellations who will email us to say that the cancellations has now been effected and the refund instructed. 14. The email doesn't arrive. We call again. A different person. More lift music. A new person follows up and we finally get an email saying that the policy has been cancelled and full refund will be made. She assures us this will include all government levies and admin fees - we will receive a refund of the full amount we paid over. 15. We wait to see if full refund is made. 16. We write to the customer department, the CEO, heads of insurance and marketing and tell them this story. We say that if all they can do is send a bog-standard email, rather than someone with clout actually taking responsibility, they should rather not reply. 17. No reply received. read more

Got a quote from chill- Insurance not due for 11 days but foolishly paid it. Got a cheaper quote for exact same terms and conditions. Had not yet received anything in the post from Chill or supplied copies of no claims bonus or sent copies of Driving License. Emailed to tell them I did not want to go ahead with the policy and despite being told there is a 14 day cooling off period they have told me I have to pay GOVERNMENT LEVY AND ADMIN FEES. Total ripoff merchants . So be very careful. Don't get caught read more

chill insurance...................Chill my arse, jus got a quote from chill to insure my van , happy enough with the price so went ahead, when I paid in full with the credit card have been charged 40 euro admin fee for three minute phone call, customer service cant help cant let me speak to supervisor and cant ring me back, so I am now going to cancel demand my money back and move my van, car and house insurance to another company. so well done chill you can kiss goodbye to that business and any future business thanks to your underhand sneaky charges." I'll take it from here" well done chill it takes a big person to say sorry ten minutes after writing this review chill have just rang back and promised to refund extortionate administration fee, point proved, grievance alleviated. read more

I been delighted by they service on the beginning of our relationship. I have three cars insured trough them I'm with them over 5 years and two years a go company start doing strange thinks. First of all, as broker they are obligated to find the best offer for customers but they start sending renewal offers with mad prices when I rang them to find out why they find something cheaper but on the first place they try to sell most expensive policy after conversation they was able offer insurance 600 e cheaper. Other thinks mess with documents I was waiting for my almost 2 months and when I try to deal with customer support they promise to call me back with update for sure 7 times but they never did. I did ask for manager to call me and sort this story but the same no call beck. Today finally when I send email with official complain and I ask for contact to his manager he rang me with solution. Keep away from them this is my last time. read more

An absolute joke of a company. " We'll do everything possible to take the stress out of it for you"....my blood pressure is sky high and I am still shaking with anger an hour later after finally getting through to these incompetent muppets. I had car insurance with them for two years and as it was up for renewal I contacted them to get a quote. Three weeks later I'm still waiting despite sending numerous emails, phonecalls etc. For obvious reasons I've decided to go elsewhere for my insurance but I'm still trying to get Chill to send me my no claims bonus details etc so I can proceed with new policy. To avoid at all costs!! Worst service I have ever experienced!!! I am starting to think that they are not sending the Claim Bonus Letter on purpose making it impossible to switch insurance... Here's my story: I was with them for two years, the service has been dreadful all along. I had no choice but to renewed with them last year as I had waited endlessly for the no-claim bonus certificate to be sent and having never received it. as I needed to drive I accepted to renew after receiving numerous phonecalls (but never the claim bonus certificate). They messed up my direct debit, I realised it accidentally while checking my bank statement and I had to call them three times to have it sorted. Also they managed to take my personal details wrong (such as date of birth). The third year I was determined not to renew with them at all costs, but guess what again they failed to send me my no-claim bonus. (strange pattern here).They apparently claimed to have sent it to my old address, although I had called them to update the address right before the move. Went to my old address but the envelope wasn't there... probably lost in the post(they say).. They sent me a copy via email (which unfortunately has no legal validity). My car has been off the road for two months as I am still waiting on my no claim bonus to finally arrive. (And I still haven't got the original copy). I called them again today and they said the no-claim bonus was finally sent to me..to the old address again!!!! Despite at least the 10 phone calls I made to them to have it resent and confirming the details of my new address. Ah I forgot to say that I am still awaiting a phone call from the Customer Service Manager, who is either busy, or not in the office or will call me later... read more

I tried to get a home insurance quote in writing. They refused and when I asked to speak to a manager, I was told he wasn't available and that he would call me back. The agents talk in circles but do not answer questions in a factual manner. They gave me a lower quote than when going through the insurance company itself, however this was not the cAse when I tried getting the quote from their website. I would be very careful as their lack of precision is worrying. It appears that they were quoting me as having 4 years no claims when I told them I have never had a home insurance policy. This could be disputed in the event in a claim. Anyway after 2 frustrating and long phone calls, I came to the conclusion that I would like to avoid dealing with these guys who seem keener to make a sale than to give me an appropriate and precise quote. read more

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with! grand as long as they're taking your money but as soon as you call them for anything they just ignore you! tried to change the car on my policy and was asked for €70, when asked why it would cost so much the girl first replied that the engine size was bigger to which I replied that it wasn't, I was then put on hold and when she came back she said it was because the car was newer than the other car to which I again replied that it was infact older. Another few minutes on hold and she came back to tell me that it was because the car was older than the other one! how many excuses for taking my money would she end up giving if we'd kept going? now it's time to get my proof of no claims and I'm getting the total runaround I reckon because they know they have lost a customer so why bother! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! Absolute joke of a company! read more

No such thing as customer service. I took out car insurance with this company last October and within minutes of requesting an online quote, I had two phone calls and one text message from them. Today I wanted to add a third party to my policy and was left holding so long that my mobile phone credit was used up and I was disconnected. I then sent a message via their website requesting a call back but this was a waste of time. First thing tomorrow morning, I am going to cancel my policy and return to McCormack, Hooper Dolan Insurances. They may be a few euros more expensive but it will be worth it for the excellent customer service which they provide. read more

Having used a previous provide and been loyal to them I always just paid my renewal each year, it was only when I saw chill on TV I thought I would visit their site and do a comparison, wow was a surprised, my renewal for my car insurance reduced significantly, I had never really used a price comparison broker before, but I will be moving forward, I didn't realise how much could be saved by comparing providers, I also found the process very easy doing it all online. read more

I don't usually review, but I really believe in giving credit where it's due. I discovered Chill insurance, when my sister let me borrow her car I was unfortunate enough to have a bump. The claim and repair process was quite easy and the best thing was on my initial call there was no predefined robots voice and they were very kind and sympathetic, thanks for your assistance. read more

Still do not know how this company is still in the market and no legal action has been taken. The worst company I've seen in my life. I found chill through a search on Google. Their site is really easy to use and compare providers. I have taken a car insurance policy through them and found them exceptionally quick to put the policy and documents in place. Their staff are very friendly and available by phone as well as online. AVOID for any cause ... they had to prove no claim bonus and they did not even try to. NOW I BELEIVE I WAS ON THE ROAD WITHOUT INSURANCE!!!! On ask to send me an email confirmation that I got insurance I never receive one!!! Stay away from them!!! No customer service just doggy deals to get some monies of you. AVOID! read more

Not an insurance company their a broker, which employees 500 ignorant rip off merchants to work in their 5* 6 story Dublin 18 building.. anything but chill they'll make you jump threw hoops ask you ridiculous questions and hang up on you if you don't do as they say.. Although I had a small policy them, I have to say they are very polite and fast in their dealings. I needed a No Claims Bonus Letter and I called them up. They were efficient and help me out and I had it with me within 48 hours as promised. Good work guys keep it up. read more
