Upon enrolling into Zadie's early childhood development center I was excited. My child was getting…read moreintroduced to preschool and I was referred to them so I was happy. I informed the school of dietary restrictions for my child and also had given all forms required by them prior to starting from the doctor. Unfortunately this allergy was not taken seriously. On multiple occasions my child was served foods that they were allergic to. After the 1st time I was then told that the allergy chart was not up and that there was a miscommunication and it was understood that there were no restrictions for the child's diet. (Even though there was doctors notes in place) I was also told I would have to bring food from home or that they can serve the sides of the day excluding the protein. I was also told that the child would be separated from the rest of the class to make sure of the possibility of the child eating someone's else food wouldnt happen. I thought this would be a good idea but still from then on I was so paranoid that I would remind the staff the day of and call after lunch each time this item was on the menu to assure my child was ok. On the second occasion I spoke to the teacher who ASSURED me that my child did not eat the allergic item. 30 mins later I get a call that my child actually did and was experiencing allergic reactions. I was told that the teacher, yes the teacher was out of the room durning lunchtime and that the aid served lunch and fail to check the chart. With all that being said if you don't want to micro manage your child's school just skip this one. The staff is undertrained and the most important things get overlooked.

Nadia the director helped us figure out a schedule to transition him in before he was full time. Then this was his first time in full time care and all of the teachers were so warm and caring that he was immediately eager to go to school every day. It is a fairly small school so our son was thrilled to get to know some of the "big" kids and eager to move up a class each year. He constantly amazes us with all he has learned at LPP and he loves the enrichment classes he takes like art, dance, science, and music. Since the school is in downtown Maplewood, the kids get to spend outdoor time in Memorial Park, walk over to the library, and explore on walks. We greatly appreciate the great hours as two commuting parents. Most important to us is how we see LPP helping our son become a kind and caring citizen of the world. He loves to "play play play" at school and we see how he is doing that and much more at LPP. Can't wait to send our younger child there when she is old enough!

I have loved their openness letting parents in and allowing us to see how the classes truly run! There's a bit of a cooperative mentality where you are welcome to come into the classroom to read a book or introduce something fun and educational, though it is not mandatory like other cooperative schools. All of the teachers have been wonderful--we have voiced a couple of concerns with our child and they have gone above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. I am so grateful to feel that care. One con is that they currently do not have an outdoor fenced in playground, but it's a non issue as they are set to have it installed this summer. I believe they stayed open the entire time. We were so blown away with how well the school was sanitized daily. It felt like the right place to enroll my son as an infant. Comparing our experience with two daycares my daughter attended.. at Goddard my children are rarely sick or sent home. Like both my kids missed no more than 3 days in 3 years. Goddard really values keeping kids healthy and safe. I enrolled my son around 10 months old and it was a great transition. The teachers in the infant room were so pleasant and truly are like family. They were very accommodating with special requests about milk and nap time. Speaking of communication, I give the admin staff 5 stars with how well they run the front office. They have exceptional follow up and communication-daily reminders, photos, reports and weekly newsletters. I also appreciate the diversity of the staff and families. As a mom of color, I really love that. There have been many special events to bring the community together. My favorite events have been Halloween parade, the carnival, the "prom" for graduating class and Mother's Day/Father's Day appreciation. So much thought goes into all these celebrations and it's special. Once older, my kids were constantly entertained with art, yoga, music, water play, so many fun things. Always tired from a fun day. While the tuition may not be the cheapest -- you get what you pay for. It's well worth it for the safety, health and well being of our children. I highly recommend!

Felt like I was walking into a prep school for much older kids and couldn't envision my 6 month old enrolled here. Location is great for Montclair residents but in the same vein, they applied the Montclair-esq pricing...the curriculum for the various age groups was also underwhelming in my opinion. My sentiment upon exiting was "meh"
