Making the appointment was very easy. Quality is great. Everyone is always so nice. The office id clean and is always decorated really fun for the kids. They have TVs playing to distract the kiddos (sometimes you need that). I took my daughter there for her 1st dentist appointment (she was a little over 1 year old at the time) and she still remembers when she got her little toy at the end. This was my 2 year olds first visit to the dentist. Eli the dental assistant was amazing super friendly and patient. We attempted to do xrays and i was also offered a gown to participate and hold my daughter through the experience . She wouldn't bite down on it but we did try our best to familiarize her with the process. Next we went to the chair to get our cleaning and check up from the dentist. I was very hopeful coming here. I was referred by another parent that I know. my daughter has level three autism. I called and let them know. I made the appointment. They told me that the doctor they scheduled me with had experience and was great. I walked in and everything that my daughter can't handle and is scared of is exactly what they wanted my daughter to do. no one seemed to know how to deal with the situation or approach my daughter and did everything to her that would only scare her more. I explained to them my daughter needed to be sedated that nothing could be done while she was awake because of her sensitivities, but they kept pushing to not do that and unfortunately it traumatized my daughter who continues to cry 30 minutes out after the appointment. I had to drive an hour each way out of my way to come, and we haven't been to a dentist in three years. We've been to several dentists. I was very forthcoming about the things that my daughter could or couldn't do. I kept telling the assistant and the dentist that my daughter would not sit still for an x-ray or any type of work in her mouth that she would need to be sedated in order to have anything done that we've been to many dentist and she's traumatized and I came here because I thought they had the experience and could handle a person like this. My suggestion to any dentist reading this from the facility I highly suggest that you learn about different Neuro types 's because they exist and approaching someone lights in a face a lot of people around and they're terrified is not going to get you a good result and so asking the parent questions and listening to what they're trying to tell you is really gonna get you a long way and also being honest and saying, I don't think I can handle this case because we aren't trained to be able to provide her what she needs. When a person has severe sensory differences. You have to approach them in a different way when a person is non-speaking and cannot tell you what they're thinking and feeling they're going to react with behavior and are going to be fearful. You need to listen to people not just with their words, but with their actions with their cries and it seemed like nobody seemed to understand or know what to do and were insistent that they could not put her to sleep. unfortunately with my daughter, it has to be done not everybody is the same. And now here I am having to find another dentist after going through five or six different dentists that will take Medi-Cal and have the training necessary to be able to provide adequate care for my daughter and to be able to understand her sensory differences. People with autism are humans and need dental care just like every other Neurotypical human. And not every autistic human is the same and as dentists it's really important that you learn that and understand that. it's really sad for people with autism that they can't seem to find dentist that they can afford that will provide adequate care because holding someone down causes trauma and it is abuse. So I'm not gonna hold my daughter down in order to clean her teeth or take an x-ray and I think it's important for someone's all around health to make sure that they're not being traumatized and abused just to provide care. Understand that forcing a person with autism into something is considered abuse. Especially when they cannot speak and communicate with their mouth. The terror in my daughter's eyes by the end because she didn't understand what was being put into her mouth and it had a light on the end of it that was bright was frightening her and a person with a mask on that she's never met that didn't really introduce herself to her is only gonna be more traumatizing as you're laying back in a chair with another big light over you imagine that as a human who can't speak and doesn't understand what's happening and then you got all these other sensory differences going on and all the sounds being absorbed. Sounds pretty overwhelming. Doesn't it now imagine that for my little six-year-old Daughter. That is her reality every day and there are thousands. If not millions of other individuals like her that suffer from this and I do think it is your responsibility to learn how to treat and care for people like that. Hopefully this is a learning lesson for your practice not every autistic person is going to experience the same thing with your facility, but I do not suggest your facility for someone who has severe sensory differences who doesn't speak And who has severe autism. read more

I've had the opportunity to visit this brand-new pediatric dental facility a few times this week. From the front desk to the dental assistants we worked with, to the ever-present office manager, Omar, everyone was welcoming, professional, and made it a great experience for my kids and me. Hello. I am sharing my experience at children dental fun zones for Oxnard. I had such a good experience. My son is 4.5 and absolutely hates the dentist and always throws tantrums. We used to go to another office nearby until they wanted to pull out so many of his teeth. I gave this new office a shot and I was so impressed. We had Dr. Mathew help us and he was kind, patient, and caring. For once my son didn't throw a tantrum and the Dr figured out a plan for my son to not have to extract a bunch of teeth and try to preserve them.
