Staff have been there for years, and you want there to be little staff turn over for consistency. You will get to know your child's teacher. They respond to any concerns, and do so courteously. The owner, Kate, has always been very professional and I really appreciate that. They have a backyard so kids can also be outdoors. While it was hard at first to leave my son, and he cried for about two weeks at drop off (all normal) now when I pick him up there are days he doesn't want to go home because he is having fun!

There is a team dynamic which is comforting since everyone has a specific task they focus on. As a parent and educator, it makes me feel great to know my daughter is in a safe environment. As someone who has been with the DOH, I have seen other facilities and it's truly frightening what is out there. But IBEAR truly makes an effort and works together to ensure a safe, respectful, learning environment. The facility also provides breakfast and lunch, which is helpful. There is even bus service! As for the teachers, my little one looks forward to seeing her teachers. She gets up every morning looking forward to school so I know she is having a good experience. (She is 3 and very vocal, she would have said otherwise). She is happy to share what she learned and talks about her friends and teachers. Watching her behavior I know that she is in the right environment. I did read a review that the place is dirty. I would like to address since I toured without an appointment. I literally had popped in one day to check out the Daycare before enrolling my daughter. The place was clean. In fact, it was much cleaner than other places I have seen. The floors are clean, The bathroom was clean too.

They don't advertise, and it's purely by word of mouth. That makes it even better. I love the environment, and both kids absolutely loved being there. What I love most is that everyone there, from Maria to Adela to Rosie are experts in child raising. They know if someone is amiss even before we can put our finger on it. It's like having a set of experts who can diagnose a problem. For the older children, the 2-4 year old side is a great place for socialization and bonding. Honestly, Mom's family daycare is one of the reasons why we made sure to stay in the neighborhood -- it was that important to us.

My son is so happy every morning when he sees his care giver and sometimes doesn't want to stop playing when I pick him up. They really do genuinely love the children. Given the recent tragedy in the Bronx, I feel like a daycare where your child is safe, loved, well-cared for, and happy are the most important criteria. I'm grateful that we were able to send our children to Mom's. They don't do pictures and you won't get a report out on how many dirty diapers, so if that is a level of control that you think you need, I would look into a nanny rather than a day care.
