Upon walking in, I was greeted with smiling faces and incredibly approachable staff. I checked out the board and noticed one of their first rules- no phone on the chair. I honestly appreciated the dedication to good conversation and a friendly environment. David, the ringleader as it seemed, offered me a whiskey beverage. I opted for an old fashion, and my man knows how to make a fine beverage. Once I sat in the chair, I was transparent and explained that I'm not too complicated, but needed a tight fade with a cut on top that doesn't show off my widow's peak. I did ask if they would recommend anything else, and this is where they won. I asked Rust Belt about this a while back and they explained a bunch of different styles that my hair couldn't actually do. This place however, was real and transparent. They explained the limited options I had (which I was cool with) and said what would honestly be the best move. I appreciated it, enjoyed the very careful cut, had some laughs about music and buffalo, and walked out real happy.

I chose this particular barber shop because it had really great reviews, and it was considered one of the highest rated in the area, so I was interested in seeing how the service goes. When I stepped in, it was smaller than expected. I saw around a few seats or so, but the atmosphere felt quiet and minimalist, but really warm and welcoming. It wasn't just how things were decorated and designed, the two barbers that were there, Jaclyn and Fallan, were really, really welcoming. As I waited for about ten minutes or so, they were each cutting a customer's hair, and they had lengthy, very personalized conversations with them. It wasn't just casual, it felt almost like they were talking to their best friend, especially in the way Jaclyn engaged in the conversation. From overhearing those conversations and the way they treated them as customers, it is really clear that they very much care, and they really love their job. It's also clear that the two customers that were there were long time customers, and they seemed pretty happy being there. The barber that I got was Fallan. From the very first time I sat in that chair, she asked me what my name was and she introduced herself to me without even asking. That warmth and thoughtfulness extended to even new customers like myself. Fallan had a sort of friendly restraint in the way she spoke with me and I really like that, because I am naturally a more shy and quiet person. The other barber, Jaclyn, who I think is the owner, was absolutely welcoming and so inviting. She asked me a lot of questions about who I am, not only as a customer, but about my background and experiences as a person. She sounded genuinely curious to know more about me, and it was really nice, since Fallan did a great job cutting my hair consistently short, and Jaclyn was consistently conversational and nice the entire way through as I was getting my haircut. I knew that this place had high ratings, and I definitely know why just based on even my first experience. However, even then, I was surprised at how nicely and welcoming they treated me. I thought of it as unusual, but a feeling and experience that I very much accept and welcome because of how thoughtful and friendly it was. If you do want to be treated really well and have incredibly nice and skilled barbers cutting your hair, do consider this barber shop. It still feels somewhat surreal that they were that friendly, and it was only the two of them there.

In the beginning, the service was great, but over time I noticed a consistent decline in the scheduling and overall experience. I would see an available appointment, schedule it for my sons, and then receive a text that same day or the following day asking to change the appointment time. This happened approximately 4-5 times. What ultimately became my last straw was when we would come at the newly agreed-upon time, only to find another client already sitting in the chair. This happened twice, which resulted in me and my sons having to wait much longer than we had anticipated. I understand that schedules can change and things happen, but repeatedly changing our appointments and then having us wait when we arrived at the rescheduled time was frustrating and inconvenient...especially when I had specifically scheduled an open appointment slot. I would rather someone simply tell me that they no longer want to provide haircuts for my sons than continue running us around in circles. I have always tipped for the service, so I'm not sure what the issue was. Manny did a good job on their hair and I appreciate that. However, because of the repeated scheduling issues and the way our last few appointments were handled, I can no longer recommend his services.

I just thought it was part of his style, as he does like the hip hop culture from music to clothing style - he mixes that in with his own spin on it. As his mom, I always want my son to be comfortable in his own style and never tell him not to wear the durag but I missed seeing his hair! I just enjoy the no frills attitude, the meticulous cut and the sports loving old school American Italian Buffalo attitude here. Dom always knows how to cut my hair, shave my neck and he still does a straight razor/edge on my neck every time. During Covid, I seriously missed this place and didn't know how to survive. Was grateful when I could come back with a mask and now I feel like it's back to normal here. The floor got a little renovation too and it looks like the place got a fresh paint job too.
