They also have the ordering process down really well, so you can get in, grab your food, and get back to exploring without a long wait. Limited seating inside. We both got the oink size on white bread with mustard mayo - one with sage & onion stuffing, and one with haggis stuffing. Both were so delicious. I prefer my pulled pork the North American way which includes coleslaw, but when in Edinburgh do as the people of Edinburgh do. Also note the special deal of you include a beer. This is a fine place for a lunch. Service is friendly and helpful. The ambiance is what you should expect for a pork lunch sandwich place. There are five tables including one for four or more people.

After our visiting the castle we were walking back uptown and ran into Oink and although we were not too hungry we had to stop back and grab a Pulled Pork Sandwich after out boy Phil had talked it up, we had to stop in. We got the Oink size sandwich (medium) with Sage & Onion and Homemade Chili Cheese. They wrapped it up and we went outside to get into it. Our first bite was a bit lackluster. We figured maybe we didn't everything in that bite but same on the second. The Sage & Onion and Homemade Chili Cheese did bring much to the table in flavor or spice and even the pork wasn't popping with flavor even. Maybe this is an American thing where we are used to super flavorful pulled pork. Trust me too I' not that guy either who needs sauce on my pork either. This was just a bit plain. I will say the staff was great and exampled everything when ordering. This just might be one of those things that doesn't carry over as well for Americans.

The Filling place certainly can ruffle up a good sandwich, especially a ham and cheese salad baguette! And what made it even better was that the cheese was extra special, as it is sourced from the famous cheesemongers of Edinburgh, Iain Mellis. This little cafe however, doesn't just do sandwiches. They do baked potatoes, soups, Paninis and salads. All the produce looked fresh and the shop smelt full of fantastic flavours. I also believe you can purchase cheeses and hams from the cafe's deli counter. And the prices aren't too bad either, actually on the cheaper side of the coin. When I was in the cafe it wasn't that busy, and that in a way was quite nice, munching a small lunch time snack while people watching from the window seats. That will do me nicely.

Some say these are the best pies in Edinburgh, and I'd have to agree. They're a step above your average Scotch pie, and filled with delicious meat and gravy. The bridies are pretty damn good too. Mmmm! It costs more to have it hot and sit in (damn that pasty tax!), but I live so close that I just take it home and heat it up in my oven instead. Before devouring them in seconds and dribbling gravy all down my chin. I have had a hot roll from here before, it was alright. It's just a shame that it's not open on a Sunday, the day of the week when I most crave a roll and sausage. NOTHING is open on a Sunday on Easter Road that meets my roll requirements, sad face. Why won't someone think of my stomach?!

Decided to try it out as it had decent reviews on just-eat, tho upon closer inspection a lot of the 6 star reviews seemed to be duplicates and one girl named "Fiona" couldn't be more stoked about the place... think if she is real, she needs her tastebuds checked... The "shredded beef" is less beef and more dried, deep fried.. something... blurgh.. The "lemon chicken" was BRIGHT ORANGE.. ummm... yea.... I've not come across an orange lemon before, have you?? And for the fact that it looked like it was cooked in fanta, tasted like nothing at all... The "shrimp with cashews" were frozen shrimps and also didn't have much flavour... The ribs, for the amount of sauce they were drowning in, had absolutely no taste either... The mini shrimp in the fried rice were again of the frozen variety and were fairly unpleasant.. Should really have stuck with tried and true than tried somewhere new on this occasion. Avoid!!

The curry sauce tasted lovely and had a fantastic kick to it, definitely one for fans of a hotter chicken curry. The chicken was a bit too chunky but was still tasty - same amount in smaller chunks would've been perfect. The ribs were very tender and a little bit fatty; it's not like me to leave any ribs but these ones didn't impress me. Oh, and when I asked what bottles of soft-drink they had it turned out they only sell cans, which was disappointing and not all that practical given how spicy the curry was. The meal was nice enough. The curry sauce was just how I like it but what I've said about the meat let it down a little although this is just my personal tastes. It's reasonably priced and was delivered quickly, but with many other Chinese takeout places available in the area it's not my first choice.

Known for kebabs, shawarmas, and burgers, Yum Yum also does deep fried mars bars, which I noticed when I first went up the steps of the Close with their outdoor sign. Being that Edinburgh is one of the few areas that have spots that make these, I was happy to see Yum Yum did it. I'm basing my review off of my order experience. It was made quickly. Payment was fast. And the mars bars was decent. If I was drunk, I would probably be foodgasming more. But I will say, it was very good and pleased I was able to experience while I was in town.

Chiefly Onesti's and The Rex. Time to complete the epic saga. Marcantonio's or 'Marr-keys' rests beside Wok Express near Motherwell Library on Hamilton Road, in shouting distance of a few pubs which gets them alot of business. They thrive on the squad of schoolies from Dalziel High School down the road though at lunch time. I dare anyone to try get served in here at lunchtime. The food is great, and not as expensive as other chip shops, with a constant wee production line waiting for you in the hot plate. Sometimes the chips aren't piping hot, but that's about all I have to say as a negative point. They also do a half a fish supper type contraption which is becoming more and more common which I won't argue with one bit. The ice cream, as has been mentioned, is also excellent. There's also something slightly nice about the wee box they give you your food in with Marcantonio's on it, as if they take a wee bit more pride in their business than other places. No reason why they shouldn't either.

Usual things on the menu that you would expect such as Pizza's, burgers, kebab's etc. My personal favourite is a Bonanza burger which is basically a burger topped with kebab meat and sauce and popped in a burger bun. It can get quite busy on weekends when pubs spill. They also have a selection of curries etc on their menu but I have never had a curry from them. Not to keen on their pizza's though as hate these cheap bought in bases.
